Of course no one bid on it, if you listed it as a 486 that was a working Pentium. Since that description makes no sense (a 486 and a Pentium are two different processors) nobody wanted to guess what you were really selling and take the risk. Most failed eBay auctions are the result of poor descriptions and a lack of photos.
I'm just glad I don't work in a store that will sell all these formats. Is anyone anticipating all the returns when joe six-pack buys an HD-DVD and then discovers that his $30 DVD player won't play it? Will the retail people even understand how to explain all this stuff? The entire thing will cause so much confusion, that HD disc players (both HD-DVD and BD) will probably be kept in the demonstration rooms, and the media will be kept in big racks with disclaimers like "THESE DO NOT PLAY IN NORMAL DVD PLAYERS" once the retailers find out what a pain in the ass this all is.
The whole thing reminds me of the old days, when I had to visit specialty shops to get my hands on LaserDiscs, just so I could enjoy a film in letterbox. Part of me wishes that these new technologies will go the same way, but at the same time it has been nice to see normal consumers embracing widescreen, dolby surround, and high quality in general. It still sucks when I come across the person who asks why they "cut off the top and bottom of the picture." Ugh. On the other hand, even the guy with an HDTV and an HD TiVo is still gonna ask how he can stretch the SD channels to fill the screen. Ugh again. They need to make you pass a class before you can buy electronics.
The bug seems to that Mac users are running Windows. This has upset the entire Microsoft culture. Therefore, all Macs running Windows will be erased and set back to running OS X. How else will Microsoft actually make money selling Office, since only the Mac users pay for it?
They probably cut the homeland security budget because most of Bush's buddies have been removed from that office. Whatever section they now inhabit probably saw an increase. Let's see what part of government his old drinking buddies can screw up next!
I remember soldering RAM chips into my Mac 128 to get 512k. I never knew it was done intentionally.
On a similar note, the original iMac had the header for a floppy drive. (I guess they planned to ship it with one.) Several companies made a quick buck selling kits to connect a standard Mac floppy drive to this port. Not too much later, a firmware update caused this port to stop working, along with the "ext" port that people had managed to plug SCSI and graphics card into. Perhaps Steve still didn't like the idea of people messing around inside his new Mac? It seems funny that the iMac G5 is designed to be completely disassembled by the end-user now. It's like the Mac II all over again...
You blame Apple because you are unable to read the system requirements or try out the free 30-day trial of the software? The trial page even has a compatibility checker application you can download.
Next time, try blaming the real source of the problem: yourself.
Anyone who places a bid with more than 1 minute left in an auction is an idiot. This is why ebay will continue to be a seller's market: Too many morons with under 10 feedback repeatedly outbidding each other when the auction has 6 days to go.
If you want to win an auction, hang out until there is 30 seconds left and outbid all those early fools.
Do I want a phone as reliable as my computer?
Of course I do. I don't run Windows.

Add irda and parallel? Why not add an 8 inch floppy drive and a punchcard reader? Apple already dropped parallel in 1984, and last shipped a Mac with irda in 2001. Why would they add such outdated crap back on? And what do you really need a serial port for?
I can relate to this. I ordered a Pioneer DVR-108 DVD burner, and while it was in the hands of UPS, making its way from California to Ohio, Pioneer announced the DVR-109.
Oh, and I ordered my 21.3 inch LCD monitor two days before Samsung announced that they would have a no dead pixel warranty on all new displays bought from then on. (Luckily, my display arrived without any dead pixels.)
Season 8 of SG-1 and Season 1 of Atlantis are only halfway finished. The other 10 episodes will run in January-March. It has been this way since 1997, back when SG-1 ran on Showtime. They are afraid to compete with the networks and their new Fall shows, so they go into reruns for 3-4 months.
You can see a schedule of upcoming episodes on this calendar. New episodes start up on January 21st.
Season 9 of SG-1 and Season 2 of Atlantis don't begin until next Summer.

They sell the regular TiVo for $49. You add a 250GB drive and a couple tuners and that makes it $999? Talk about a ripoff. Next year this stuff will cost $199.
The remote control that came with my DirecTV DVR (TiVo powered) can run through all the TV power codes to help you find the code for your TV set.
(Instructions: Hold the DTV button and TV power button together for 5 seconds, then enter 0999. To search the codes press the channel up button, wait 2 or 3 seconds, and repeat until the TV turns off.)
It's probably not as discreet as this thing, but it is something you could have been doing for quite a while now.
DirecTiVo does not support networking, HMO, TiVo-to-go, or any of the other cool features of the 4.0 software on the standalone TiVo models. The USB ports are not even activated.
The boxes are perfectly capable of these features, but DirecTV is unwilling to activate them.

You work on the shuttles, and you don't even know how to spell the name of one of them? (It is called the Endeavour.)
No wonder the things keep blowing up.
Complete bullshit. You can use a retail OS X disc to install a fresh OS on a blank hard disk.

Yeah, so they shipped my PowerBook back to Taiwan before it was Fedexed to me? I think not.
