  1. The ONLY reason this is an issue on UK, Australia Investigating Facebook Amid Cambridge Analytica Data Scandal (go.com) · · Score: 0

  2. But, to the citizens OF China on China Lays Claim To Four Great New Inventions That Have Existed Elsewhere Before (bbc.com) · · Score: 4, Insightful

They will believe THEIR country invented it. Just as with any repressive non open government, the people only know, what they are told if they cannot seek information from outside of her country. I remember, after the collapse of the USSR, some reporter was asking a newly freed person that came to the USA about his experiences. He said when he went to an American supermarket for the first time, he knew that his government, had LIED about the United States, his entire life. North Korea, thinks their "leaders" are Gods, because they know NOTHING else. China is a more open place in places like Hong Kong, and areas around Peking/Beijing, but, they have state controlled media, limited access to news OUTSIDE of their country, so, it's understandable that many in their nation, would believe they invented a lot of things, which we know is incorrect.

  4. 4 years ago, about this same time of year, I got a Huawei Mate2. It was during the "feeding frenzy" of the Oppo OnePlus One, while waiting for the invite, someone mentioned the Mate2, which had this huge battery. Reading the specs, it only had a snapdragon 400 processor. I ordered it on Amazon, thinking I'd play around with it, but send it back because of the "slow" processor. It came, and after setting it up, when I ran a benchmark, it was as expected...not the fastest in the west, but, what I was amazed, was how responsive it was. When the invite for the OnePlus One came, I got one, fiddled with it a few days, then sold it and went back to the Mate2. I ran that one for 3 years before upgrading to the Mate8. If you aren't into high end games, but, just use a phone as a phone, camera, mp3 player etc, you DON'T need the overpriced "flagships" with their flashy colors. These midrange phones are pretty good. Or, do like I do...wait til a new flagship comes along and wait for them to discount the "old" one...sometimes by around HALF of what they launched for.

There are a TON of places you can get free wi-fi...just because someone can't afford broadband, why should I have to pay for it? I can't afford a bunch of things, but I'm not asking for anyone else to pay for it. The problem with these programs, the ones that REALLY could benefit from it, aren't the one's TAKING ADVANTAGE of it!

  6. I have my phone (MY phone), work email set to be on only from 6:30am, to 5:00pm M-F, and from 5pm Friday, to 6:30am Monday. Before the advent of smartphones, the internet, email and the like, when you left at the end of the day, that was it until the next business day. If my boss needs something on the weekend, I expect to be paid, he knows it, and has paid me if needed. THAT is the way it should be, but, some people are "scared" to say no, think they are "on call" 24/7...when a boss knows that, you will end up being their beck & call man.

  10. I don't care what color you are, what religion you are, what sex you are. Just a couple things. 1. Come here LEGALLY 2. Learn ENGLISH 3. Live within the laws of THIS country 4. Get a job and don't mooch off the government (same should go to those able to work that are born here) Other than that, I don't give a flip what you do, in the privacy of your own home... If you came to this country ILLEGALLY, even as a small child, go back to your home of origin, apply to come here legally. The so called "dreamers" included. Why is it the USA has to be the "dumping ground" for the world? Other nations have strict immigration laws, but the USA, England, Europe are suppose to allow pretty much anyone to come to their countries. It's just another attempt to break down the nation states, to create a "one world order" BS.

This is what you get when you value SAFETY more than FREEDOM. 40 years of liberal logic & indoctrination, lack of morals, lack of ethics, lack of manners, lack of respect, no family, and on and on... When I was in high school in the 70's, pretty much every pickup had a gun rack with a .22 rifle and or shotgun. Some had pistols in the glovebox. Not one was locked. Kids carried pocket knives, or buck knives in a sheath on their belt. NOT ONCE was there ever a shooting, stabbing or anything else. The gun hasn't changed...the KIDS have changed. Twitter blasts out that a police officer shot a kid several times WHILE he was RUNNING AWAY with his hands up, and it spread like wildfire. After the TRUTH came along, that we found out not only was this young adult not running away, he was running TOWARDS the officer, after he had previously assaulted the officer, and, tried to remove his service weapon, after he previously assaulted a business owner. Next thing will probably happen, is taxi services, auto insurance carriers will probably "demand" that uber/lyft drivers take some sort of EMT/first aid course before being allowed to operate, increasing their costs, and exposing them to potential lawsuits because people would rather save a couple thousand dollars, and not call an ambulance.
