I've heard them on the Comedy Channel, as well as two or three of the music chaneels that I listen to. Don't remember which one it was... Country Roads, 80's, Vortex, New Country and/or the Pulse..
XM has more terrestrial repeaters in cities... And trying to aim a home antenna at Sirius is an exercise in satellite funtioning... and makes you respect NASA a bit more.
Take a stand for a company that respects its customers by subscribing to Sirius.
Um... Sirus may not have commercials for Radioshack or JC Penny's like XM does, but don't kid yourself... they make up for it with promo spots for their own shows... if I hear one more commercial for Pam Anderson's "talk" show on there... I'm going to scream.
The music from Sirus seems much more hit driven. XM has much deeper tracks that they play more routinely. Don't knock it till you try it... They're both great.
Clear Channels seems to be loosing it's stake in XM. They used to simulcast KISS FM from LA and now it's turned into an inhouse XM produced station.. with Rick Dees.
They are a minority partner in XM, and are not in control at all..
If you get a Tivo with "Tivo Basic Service" you don't need to subscribe to Tivo... but it's definatly a step down from regular Tivo-hood. You can always upgrade the unit and get the full Tivo experience afterwards. Otherwise, every Tivo you get has to have Tivo Service included. It's well worth it. If you want, you should take a look at DirecTV with Tivo.. boxes are $99 for exisiting customers, and there service fee is $5 a month. GREAT GREAT GREAT deal!
Ain't that the truth... If you get a Tivo with Tivo Basic service, there is no monthly fee unless you want to expand to the full Tivo experience. Which is probably woth it. As far as a standalone Tivo, you do need to subscribe, unless your reciver is older and came with version 1.X of the software.
I know your pain, I've heavily investigated this area, I have owned a Panny Showstopper which was a ReplayTV early model, an Ultimate TV from Microsoft, and a standalone Tivo. I've tried software from ATI, Showshifter, and Snapstream for my PC... I plan to attempt the MythTV unit as well in the near future, but nothing has compaired in terms of ease of use, inobtrusiveness, or sheer functionality as my Tivo.
The Tivo's real genius is that it is so blasted easy that trying to copy all of what it does is hard. It's the research that has gone into it that makes it what it is. I also have a Replay 5040 for backup, but if my Tivo died, I'd go out to CCity/BBuy and get one immediately. I've given the Tivo the mom test, and it passed with flying colors. My mother who hates technology and my obsession with gadgets would also replace her tivo should it expires.
I havn't ever had a computer with so few glitches, it's been running along since 8/01 and hasn't been shut off unless the power went out in all that time... and it still works great.
A few caveats, IMHO I've got the best type of Tivo the DVR for DirecTV which is intigrated with my sat service, and has the two tuners for duel recording, and I have upgraded the HDD in my Tivo so I have 80 hrs of storage.
As far as the computer solutions, I think I'd recommend SageTV, but that carries with it the fee involved as well. Whatever way you go, it'll be worth it. I was in a hotel a few nights ago, and was going crazy without that ability to pause, rewind, and skip commercials.
They told you for the first one as well... I know, my roommate basically kept me up one night telling me what was going to on the expanded edition of FOTR in June. Since that was known then.. I don't see how you can feel screwed by their duel release.
It's interesting that we have companies sueing (or at least postering like they want to sue) -- SunComm, and then Microsoft's chief muckity-muck telling the world that security researchers are to blame for Windows holes...
I have to believe that one or more of these companies are going to try to make it more illegal to attempt to do security reseach. Now imagine if that same attitude was used towards other scientific research...
Kinda makes you glad for that Bill or Rights thing, don't it?
AVG is total rubbish compared to Avast!, which is also free for personal use. Highly recommended
Why? What makes Avast! a better program than AVG? I'm not knocking you, I'm really curious because I just by default use AVG to scan my PC (it's better and faster than my other computer's McCaffey AV)...
Way to bring that biology into it! I'd love to use siRNA (a short segment of RNA that is exactly opposite to the mRNA strand, and which binds to the mRNA strand to silence it's transcription) to shut up N'Sync...
Does the amount of $$ put into this scheme change? That is, does the amount of money just become divied amoung more people, or is there a set minimum that is guarenteed?
The reason to ask this, is.... that is the amount is just split amoung more people... who cares? It's better than the system now, where there is no compensation...
If everyone gets a minimum, then yes, we should care because the total cost of the system is increasing as more people grab from it...
Hehe... my retail job runs SCO Unix for it's backend server, on an IBM Netvista. Due to stupid BS from corperate, I can't say where I work but it's "beloved" -- snicker -- by/.
We then use Windows 98 running on Dell PC's for the POS (yes it's very ironic) and a HP Win2K server for internet.

I have been to the USA 4 times. I was close to being shot at twice (by criminals).
Where in God's name did you go that almost got you shot? I've lived here for 20 odd years or so.. and never gotten close to getting shot... shooting others... well, that's a different story. Maybe you should stay out of the ghetto?
If you want to get streams over the internet, Sirius sat radio offers this.
That being said, I'll take the XM over anything that I can d/l. No #$^$^# buffering, great song selection, and now that the XMPCR is intigrated into iTunes, I'll be buying one soon (well, as soon as I have some spare $$ sitting around, doing nothing!).

Sirus has Club Pam with Pam Anderson... yipee... for another week...

Ok, maybe I'm taking the metaphor too far....

I believe that lemming thing is an urban myth. Some disney filmaker got a whole bunch of them to stampede over a fake cliff, and filmed it.
Hmm I used to drive by the CIA (Culinary...blah..blah..blah) on my way to work... small world! Jim
Now.... what school did you say this was? :P

Whoops.... how'd that get there :>. The sig was on an e-mail that I received from a friend, and then appropriated for my own use....
