A few of the usual certs, knowing the right people, and a willingness to work Mon-Fri 9-5, and you too could have a cushy public sector job! The government where I work seems to have money to train anyone with a basic computer knowledge and desire to learn. Plus the pay is rediculous (the good kind of rediculous).
From the article: "the time and money spent on migration, deployment, maintenance and training, as well as potential user productivity loss, would be too high to justify any return on investment in OpenOffice.org at this time"...How is that free? Sorry, but it's always a rapid jump to bash MS, without even a vague mention of TCO.
I would guess a lot of users are happy with the 'portability' of a dial-up connection - ie. laptop in a hotel room. Broadband may be ubiquitous, but not as much as dial-in appears to be.
How is it a 'scoop' if the news/story/whatever is innacurate? I could scoop ALL the major news sources just by making up crap stories featuring the right players. I don't see any way to call this (or relate this) to journalism.
I'm sure a portion of this trend is a ploy to keep the repairs of auto's in-house. A Ford dealership, for example, makes a LOT of money doing repairs. If they can force a clentele, its gravy money, of which a chunk goes back to the Ford headquarters. Seems like a sane progression, now that manufacture costs for these specialty components are probably WAY down for the manufacturers.
What's the average processing time for a sucessful patent application? And is it luck-of-the-draw who gets the patent, if there are competing applications? Sounds far more complex than it needs to be.
What major corporation/entity etc wouldn't expect to pay for these legal debacles as a normal operating cost? This isn't a sign of MS admitting their evilness...just common sense.
I thought that phones were not modular (able to be plugged in and out) until recently. I read that the phones were hard wired until the last 30 years or so. True/Not True?
excerpt - - O'Brien's book is only about 530 pages, plus some appendices. Unix doesn't rate an index entry at all, but Linux gets three. Two of those point to an extract on page 153 from a BusinessWeek article in which the authors have this to say about Linux: "Linux is good at serving up Web pages, but it isn't as effective as Windows 2000 at handling more complex jobs."
Very nice. My PHB must have this one.
Supposedly "The Creeping Fear"...sounds awfully close to "The Creeping Flesh" starring Christopher Lee (Dooku). Probably a line of crap from Harry Knowles and his unwashed companions.

I'm a moron...Ignore my parent.
...to replace the Hydrogen tank with a self-sustaining supply? I don't fully get how this works, so I hope this isn't a troll.
Ohhhh, the Humanity!
...will turn out to be nothi* [Carrier Lost]
Where do I sign up?

Is this a record moment for MS, when 95 outperforms a Linux boxen? I just heard a few coworkers keel over dead.

Combine this with the robotic exoskelton legs that MIT(?) just revealed, and we'll have Stephen Hawking in the marathon in no time (a la Onion)
Feeding starving kids is on the backburner. Ahh the self-serving 21st century.

It would be called "Born on the 7th of April." Is Oliver Stone free these days?

Now we can enjoy the worlds finest programming the way it was meant to be heard (:-P
That, or "Why do you have those glasses on your shoe?"
"I Love Alberta Beef" ... me too, if it gets cold enough.
