    People in the right lane are going at the speed limit already. If you couldn't use the left lane for travel, then you couldn't use it at all!

    If the right lane is going the speed limit, then the lane isn't yet saturated with traffic. So there isn't any need to use the left lane.

    I think most people would like others to keep right out of courtesy, not neccesarily due to legal reasons. Just because something is legal doesn't mean you should do it.

    . 3 years is not a data set to base public policy OR firm geo science upon.

    You base public policy on whatever data you have available. When you have large unknowns, you do a risk assessment and then decide if that possibility of destroying the planet is important to you or not.

    Small aperture can induce diffraction, noticeably softening your photos. Optimal sharpness in most lenses typically occurs around F8.

    Although I appreciate .conf files' readability, sometimes I want to store prefs which are a little more complex.

    The configuration section doesn't have to be just a list of name-value pairs. You can design your own config sections with the full hierarchial functionality of XML. Look up the IConfigurationSectionHandler interface.

    Unfortunately this statement is true. Since the statement only applies to the wiretaps that the government talks about. The secret ones being ones they don't talk about. Sort of a Clintonesque defence.

    The NASDAQ will almost certainly go up because you've replaced losers with winners, but that makes it hard to use yesterday's numbers with tomorrow's numbers to help visualize the overall trend.

    If you believe this then you should invest in an index fund, which would then give you an almost certain result. However I believe your logic flaw is to assume past performance is a guarantee of future returns.

    And knowing is half the battle! Any help on keeping the mind clear of the crud and pulling any useful info from the class?

    Go there to learn fundamental concepts of programming. Learn things like debugging, algorithms, encapsulation, threading etc... These will naturally transfer to any language. Go with a positive attitude, even if it is "just VB" or you won't learn anything.

    Well considering the OP asserted that his intent is not to take a life under any circumstances, and to use his gun as a deterrent, I don't see a problem with this logic.

    Peer reviewed journal submitted research is mostly unavailable on the public internet, thus I couldn't possibly submit that to you.

    The evidence I submitted is the most credible that can be produced in this situation, and you rejected it. By setting your standards impossibly high, you can reject any argument I could possibly come up with.

    Some kooks claim the sky is blue, yet nobody on slashdot can provide me with any evidence of this. Can you?

    I never had to even cock the weapon. I've spoken with dozens of people who've defended themselves with arms without firing. Thieves base their crimes on believing people are unarmed.

    Load it with blanks. The bangs will encourage a fast retreat. And if the bad guy disarms you, you won't get shot.

    The US seems more eager than ever to accept science as it relates to blowing stuff up, so I don't think that's gonna be a problem. Group A is more like the "cobalt bomb" cult from planet of the apes.
