Good thing we pay these people insane amounts of money to come up with fluff, feel good legislation instead of dealing with the real issues ( illegal domestic spying, Iraq, privacy, ect... ).
If the Democratic party would propose and deliver a coherent, workable agenda, instead of attempting to cripple our government through obstructionism and presenting themselves simply as the "we're not Bush" party, I'm sure there are a lot of Republican moderates like myself that would switch.
It's interesting to note: Clinton got a blow job, and the republicans of the time wasted how much in resources impeaching him for lying under oath about a blow job?
Our current president has a list of illegal acts and uncovered lies a mile long. I haven't heard anything about the democrats trying to impeach him. Granted, it's a republican control congress, so maybe it's a moot point.
Regardless; Think for yourself. Don't register as any party, register independant. Read about the issues, form your own opinions and vote with your head, not with your emotions.
Bad news: RIAA/MPAA are making even simple file sharing a legal liability. No more testing out songs before I buy CDs
Good news: Songs suck now a days. No need to buy CDs, nor even test them out.
It's a win win for me; I don't spend more money on music, AND I don't have to worry about liability given that I have no interest in that music anyway.
First of all; Warez sites have porn. Not just a boob here and there either. Real live penetration. Often times, you have the weirdest fetish shit to deal with too.
So let's dump that on 200k kids. Lovely.
Second, kids are idiots. Truly, they are. I remember when I was a kid, I was an idiot. So now we are turning out 200k kids in to an enviroment ripe for molestation. And porn, lest we forget.
This is a bad bad idea, no mater how you slice it.
I never understood why web standards aren't maintained by the folks that actually are writing the browsers. Membership would require a browser with, say, x% market share.
This would seem to be a slam dunk to me. I figure you get Microsoft, Mozilla and Opera to the table, you'd have some pretty interesting standards developed that the browsers might stick to.
Might. Anyway, it'd be better than having some extra organization making up rules that none of them really pay more than a passing look at.
I always wondered about that quote from TNG. If Q changed the gravitational constant of the universe, it would alter the orbit of the asteroid and everything else. In the end would changing that constant, universally, even help in their situation?
Unless he just altered the LOCAL gravitational constant ( local being to that solar system ).
No, doesn't make sense, seeing how it's a constant, but then he *is* Q.
Oh and did anyone else notice that if this happens then people are being punished without ever having seen a judge or even a police officer. No sworn in official will be involved just people from two companies. Welcome to the justice system of the 21st century.
Grand stand much?
A private business has every right to refuse service to anyone, for any reason ( despite what the equal rights groups may tell you ).
This isn't a government organization exacting punitive measures against citizens on a private organizations say-so. This is one private org asking another to "punish" their customers.
Their paying customers. Which to me seems like a bad idea. But whatever.
This won't be replacing harddrives in personal computers for years to come. However, if they can get these things ~6gigs with a far higher reliability rating than harddrives, these would be ideal for corporate use.
But in this particular case, the summary has as much meat as the story, with the added benefit of saying it in a paragraph instead of several ( and even that's too long ).
For those of you who haven't read it, here it is: Windows, Linux and Mac OS X all support long file names, albeit differently. Linux is case sensitive, the others are not.
Tada! Two sentances. I imagine, were I a perl coder, I could have done it in half of one, but there you go.
I've worked for two women CEOs. The first was an absolute wreck. She played favoritism and liked to bully people around. Fortunately, as the only person there trained in a specialty, I was spared most of the bullshit. And when she did try I just threw it back at her ( it helped that she was retarded. Seriously, I think she was. That's all that could explain it ) and laughed. She tried to throw some weight around one day ( to get me to change my schedule, which worked fine for what I was doign ), and I ended up quitting.
The board fired her a week later ( about a day before I got a desperate call to come back ).
The second women boss I had was alright, mostly. She seemed to think I could do no wrong ( which is a very odd atmosphere for me to work in. I really prefer someone to check my work out, as I can be focused to a fault ). She does have a nasty habit of taking all employee actions personally. Someone gets a job offer, they obviously don't apprecaite all the work she does for them, so they are fired the very same day.
Seeing how corporate owned PVR solutions are subject to lawsuits and the like, it might start making financial sense to build a myth box out, to get the features that the big boys can't give you.
That's assuming there's anything worth watching on TV anymore, House MD not withstanding.
Seriously, is this news to anyone? All it takes to learn this is to flip on the TV to any station. Christ, even the local catholic church station. You'll notice they put the prettiest girl they have up on the tube. Why do you think that is?
Sex sells. I love it when they do this on religion stations especially.
"Well, I'm really interested in starting an open-source project. A game? Naaah... maybe some cool drawing software? Or security tools to keep out hax0rz? No, no... wait, I've got it! Accounting!"
I always thought it was one of the acknowledged shortcomings of open source stuff that it concentrated all the work in the high-profile, high-geek-factor areas?
Actually, accounting software is really interesting from the code angle. There's all sorts of neat stuff you can do with the numbers.
Actually, in clear cut cases like this, where the plaintif is slimy, the judge will force everyone to cross the t's and dot the i's, creating the length of trial we see here. Further, there is a shit load of crap to go over ( purposely, I'm sure ). So this case will take a while, but it won't keep getting appealed because this judge is doing a complete job.
I say let it. Let's vote in all this DRM and sneaky sneak violations of rights in the name of corporate interests. It's a lesson we are bound and determined to learn the hardway, so let's get this over with.

I can't wait for november.

Anyone with an IQ above that of a cabbage, perhaps?

You know, sex is not as big a deal in other countries as in the puritanical US.
Be that as it may, I'm still for blocking children from seeing donkey shows. And worse.

Goodness, no! This might push them behind schedule!
What you're forgetting is taht Q is an asshole - he just doesn't care.
Interestingly enough, you can't be an asshole and not care. You care enough to be an asshole.
There's something you never hear in a hallmark commercial.
I always wondered about that quote from TNG. If Q changed the gravitational constant of the universe, it would alter the orbit of the asteroid and everything else. In the end would changing that constant, universally, even help in their situation?

Great. More useless legislation from our elected officials. Must be election year.

I would kill for these where I work.

We managed to bust the dumb terrorists.
Personally, I'd feel safer had we gotten the smart ones.
Of course, the commercial doesn't influence my decision to buy Mountain Dew, but that's a different argument altogether.
Doesn't have to. All it needs to do is put that product in your mind. Seriously, when you think soda, what's the first one that springs to mind.

While interesting, you'll notice I said pretty. And generally, pretty alludes to attractiveness, which is key to sex.

For the two people that still have the client installed!
There is a very real need for a quick and dirty distro. What you are describing is a situation where another distro would fit better.
The problem isn't the tool. The problem is you trying to fit a square peg in a round hole.
