If you break American law (e.g. this one) and live in any country (like the UK) which has an extradition treaty with the USA you can be brought to America and charged with the crime.
So if you trade with an American you can expect a free holiday in an American prison.
I don't know about that though it's possible. However, realize that enough "extraditions" will probably have the effect of boosting anti-American sentiment in other countries, and if the government is seen as pro-American, I'd say this might have some effect on the government opinion polls in that country. I think you know where I'm going with this...:)
For this reason, White (chief executive of CodeWeavers) said he was excited rather than worried to hear that the WGA validation tool was blocking Wine. "The reason we love this is because this shows that Microsoft is aware of Wine at very high levels," said White. "For us it's exciting -- it is an acknowledgement of us as a threat."
This is a true businessman at work. While everyone else is crying foul, this man is rallying around this news. Anyways, most of the updates coming out of MS might mess up a working Wine installation.
Except for the fact that it appears to give me directions going the opposite way on a one-way street near my house (is this part of their plan!?!?). Man I should never have used MSN Search last week.. i knew Google wouldn't approve.
2.) Seamless integration with Windows, a family of operating systems that over 90% of the public uses, and which only one company has full access to the internals of: Microsoft.
Frankly, I think that point is moot. Seamless integration with Windows is just not what it is cut out to be. iTunes proves that regardless of what Microsoft puts out.. customers will flock elsewhere if they can get feature A, B and C that isn't in the integrated MS product. All this competition forces companies like Apple to keep innovating and think about opening up lest they have another Mac meltdown.
It is rumored Bill's parents had connections with IBM, which led to the contract for MS-DOS. It's all in who you know.
Sure, Microsoft's success is all due to IBM. We all know that IBM played a large role in making Microsoft what it is today. Oh wait, they shut them down when they started to get hot.
Those hoping for sequels to farcry can rejoice if the takeover succeeds. You will now have farcry 2005, 2006, 2007.... with just the names of the characters changed.
Soon it will be a far-cry from what it once was....
Ah, I love this Canadian mentally that has them believing that everyone here dies on the street because they are uninsured. Sorry, but it's a huge myth. Moreover, Canada caps its doctor's salaries so most of the really good doctors who specialize in the rare and complicated diseases that save people's lives come to the US because our schools are better and you actually get paid properly for your skills. I'm not going to open the socialism debate, but it certainly has its own set of flaws.
Canada is a democracy without all the flaws inherent to true democracy. That's it's rated #1 for standard of living in the world. Oh wait, what's this??... something to back that statement up. And this. Highest paid skilled workers doesn't mean highest standard of living in the country. I'd take the latter over the former anyday.
up here in Canada we're celebrating. This means we can procrastinate further on whether to help you guys start the next arms race. After his recent trip, Bush had a lot of people up here arguing about whether it's in our best interest to help with missile defense.
Personally, I hope the defense project fails... otherwise Canada will be forced to disagree again with American policy. I'm sure there'll be economic consequences.
Unfortunately these days in the US, "responsibility to society," means absolutely nothing next to, "responsiblity to stockholders." Even "responsiblity to stockholders," might be sufficiently meaningful if we had a *slightly* longer term outlook, around here.
You are absolutely right. That's why I think it'll only be another 20 or so years (at least one or two global catastrophe more) before the engineering profession is subject to the scrutiny that doctors have faced for at least the past hundred years. I'd go as far as saying that engineers will be considered "doctors" of the physical infrastructure on which society will depend. Malpractice in this case won't mean death to one or two patients, but could lead huge economic losses affecting society not to mention human casualties (death and injury).
should not be using Internet infrastructure in their core network. Unfortunately, the Internet provides the most cost-effective solution to global networking (no quality of service guarantee until we hit IPv6). I think network engineers have a responsibility to society to ensure that the networks they design can withstand both natural disasters and deliberate attacks by both script kiddies and criminal masterminds like Bin Laden.

Don't worry. The Bronx was already cleaned up by Guiliani.
OpenOffice already supports WordPerfect.

Oh
Last I heard, adults could go to jail for a fist fight, but kids can't go to jail because of bullying on a playground.
Oh... you meant 2 other groups of people.
Except for the fact that it appears to give me directions going the opposite way on a one-way street near my house (is this part of their plan!?!?). Man I should never have used MSN Search last week.. i knew Google wouldn't approve.
Move along people, no competition here for Oracle or DB2.
OUCH! that's rough...

Ya guys usually don't like to be called 7 of 9.
True, but even then he never stopped complaining that he Gets No Respect!
Someone's going to be looking for a job real soon.
If that's what you care about.
A drunk martian took a piss on our billion dollar mission.
Sure, Microsoft's success is all due to IBM. We all know that IBM played a large role in making Microsoft what it is today. Oh wait, they shut them down when they started to get hot.
Yep it's definitely all in who you know.
Soon it will be a far-cry from what it once was....
Damn, I knew that Nigerian guy wasn't from Nigeria.

Definitely still in use in the Bush administration when it comes to discussing WMDs in Iraq.

You must be new here.
Makes you wonder if the prisons are filling up with rapists, murderers and grey-collar hackers... where are all the professional criminal hackers?
