This is the kind of music store I have been waiting for. I tried to be the good guy, buying songs from Apple and all, but it did not work out. I realized how stupid I was being. I could fork over a buck for CRAPPY quality music (128kbps!) or I could get music at 320kbps for free. THe minimum quality I go for is 192kbps. Anything less and music sounds like crap. I have to wait a few minutes with WinMX, but hey, I just saved a buck.
I also read that music bought from the Apple Music Store gives even LESS money to the artist. $16 cds only give $1 or less to the artist, and many times it is worse than that.
So here is my situation. I have been reading about the RIAA and how it screws over artists, and hey, I don't want to support that! Instead of paying them my money, I get music for free until they go under. Then a better system can take over.
No, not really. They don't try any harder to get your package on time because it will get there on time anyway. I always pay for the cheapest and I have never had any problem getting a package more than 3 days. A big scam.
It seems, to the consumer, the goal of Linux is to make things as hard as fricken possible. This is something they (me included) would say:
The install process is horid. I DONT want to extract a tar file. I DONT want to compile code. I DONT want to search through 4 places just to find the freaking configuration file. I WANT links to be added to the "Start Menu". I WANT links added to the desktop. I WANT a central place to uninstall files.
Actually, its possible. It would only be around 12690 megabytes for all CDs (assuming there is only one for each distro). I am downloading a 14 gig file right now, so this could be done easily, however I dont think there would be a point.
Oops, that didn't really make sense. It SHOULD read:
People are always talking about freedom and they would die for it. So I ask the question, "Wouldn't you rather die than lose your freedoms?" They answer yes, but were just a minute earlier talking about how we needed to take away freedoms in order to protect ourselves.
Hypocrites.

I go to the terrorist/arabic sites then use Ajeeb (http://english.ajeeb.com/) to learn what they are saying about us. I don't want the government talking this in the wrong light. I should not have to worry at all.
OpenOffice is a pretty nifty suite. In fact, I perfer it when I am writing standard papers due to its word completion. However, do anything advanced in layout and it kind of falls apart.
I also dont like how it doesn't automatically save in.doc or have an option to do so. All my documents have to be in doc format because of the layout issues and interoperability between Office and OpenOffice.
A great thing? DRMed 128kbps music. I fail to see anything great about that. You would have to pay me to listen to a song in 128kbps quality.
You have an MP3 player, so use it to play MP3s.

http://www.downhillbattle.org/ is what really pushed me over. Check out their posters, I have them all over my walls. http://www.downhillbattle.org/flyers/?PHPSESSID=72 5ad2c3bab3c780a7721fc58a54177c
Real dolls.
Only people who can't do math would be stupid enough to buy this. You know how much stuff you would have to buy to make this worth the money? Tons.

Where is the "nerd" in this news? This is just a marketing ploy.
Tell that to the Iraqis who risked their LIVES to vote.

Sadly, linux just doesn't "do" this.
Even to very technical people, the man pages are useless. Beleive me, I tried.
A command line doesn't make installing something more secure. It only makes it harder.
6 mbit speeds are still nothing for what we will need to tranfer UDTV (Next-gen after HDTV, going to be crazy quality).
I need a 320kb/s connection because my regular 129kb/s maxes out about 75% of the time.

heh, on a more serious note, I think this would be a great thing to have. Slackware is a pain if you done have a clue, like me.

*engage old-skool virus flashbacks*
It is not enough. Anything less than Sygate or Zonealarm is like doing a taiwanese whore without a condom.
BSD (even if it's dead, hehe) and Linux can all show you this.
Never underestimate the stupidity of humans in general. It is the safest bet ever devised.
Trustworthy computing has ntohing to do with security. It is about locking down the OS so DRM is more easily enforced.
