The Mario Galaxy co-op is exactly what I've been hoping for.
This kind of co-op has at least 3 advantages:
When I'm playing, my wife can just come, grab the second wiimote and join in. Then if the baby wakes up, she can just leave.
Playing the star doesn't require that much skill. Even someone new to gaming can easily be of help.
When playing with the star, you can effectively teach & help the other player. This means I have a much greater chance of getting my wife to actually play the game as the first player.
The co-op game might not be for everyone, but for me it turned Mario Galaxy from a probable purchase into a must-have. And I'm probably not alone in this.
Actually I find both modes of the number keypad useful:
The number mode is very useful when inputting longer numbers.
The other mode makes the arrow keys that much nicer to use. Yes, there are also arrow keys next to the number keypad, but on the number keypad the location of the down arrow is much more comfortable for my hand.
(Similarly, I never use WASD as movement keys in games, it's always WAXD)
The other keys (Home, End etc) on the other hand I could live without...
I beg to differ. Phonetic writing may not have worked for the Norse, but that doesn't mean it's not practical. Finnish language is practically phonetic; if you ignore the new words coming from English, French etc. all the Finnish words are pronounced like they're written. (With the sole exceptions of words with 'nk' and 'ng' in them but even there the correct pronunciation isn't very far from what you'd expect)
For a Finnish person English feels almost chaotic as you can never be sure how a new word should be pronounced. In Finnish you can.
But I do agree that trying to simplify English is a pretty futile task.
I did some quick googling and came across this: http://www.physioroom.com/research/reviews/200410_ review_soccer_heading.php
It mentions a previous research where a professional boxer's punch was measured to have an acceleration of 53g!
Likewise 15g is not that much when it comes to quick movements of your mouse. Do the math yourself if you don't believe it.
Umm... I may remember incorrectly (and the Sunbird roadmap page seems to be down so I can't even check), but the ability to synchronize with mobile devices won't be added to Sunbird until _after_ version 1.0 and the current Sunbird version is 0.3a1...
And yes, it certainly would be great if Google supported SyncML.
30 seconds? Good for you. On my computer XP takes something like 2 minutes to start (thanks to SP2). And then I have to open all the applications again and wait for them to start.
Whereas restarting firefox is lightning-fast in comparison and doesn't affect any other applications.
So Windows reboots tend to be a little bigger deal than Firefox restarts...
Yep, the true moment of equality between sexes doesn't come when a player gets treated equally despite the fact that she's female - it comes when she can say she's female and nobody really cares. That moment is still far...
I certainly hope this game will have a bigger 'sphere of action' - or atleast have one more shaped like a sphere.
Let me explain. Enemies (and civilians) are always spawned at a certain distance from the player to give the illusion of a 'real' city. However, this distance varies depending on direction - in front of you the distance is quite high so the enemies don't seem to pop out of nowhere. Since you can't see the ones behind you the 'area of real life' can be kept smaller (so the game doesn't have to calculate as big a sphere of action). Sounds smart?
Not really. It's extremely frustrating in GTA 3 and GTA VC to wipe out a street and have more enemies spawn RIGHT behind you. How on earth can you watch your back if the enemies attacking from behind get to start closer to you than the ones in front?
(If you don't believe this happens, try turning around constantly during a rampage... although I think it isn't that big a problem in VC as it was in 3)
Bah, once again it's just a question of people not being critical towards media. Just as not everything shown in 'normal movies' is realistic, porn films aren't even trying to show normal sexual behavior. As long as you realize that, there's no need the be afraid of porn films. And I certainly don't think this unrealism is a good enough reason to start banning porn from people; nobody has tried to ban superhero films (Hey, that guy just jumped off a roof and began to fly! It's bad influence if someone tries to do that in real life!) Besides - I admit freely that I've watched porn quite often and my relationships certainly haven't suffered from it... maybe even the other way around.
Me. This is quite useful when i'm chatting with someone who is a much slower typist than i am (such as my gf). Without this feature we often end up having multiple conversations going on at once when she is still writing a reply when i change the subject.
Of course this feature has it's downsides as well (for example when i first type something and then decide i don't want to send that message after all).
So... i can live without it, but it can still come in handy.
If i can choose I usually play as a good guy. I have tried the other role as well but i always ended up with a rather watered-down evil guy.
It was also quite interesting to note what kind of evil deeds were easy for me to do and what were not. In Fallout 2 for example I found it hard to say no when someone asked for help but i didn't really have trouble shooting dozens of innocents/good guys. Disturbing? I don't know... I guess shooting down a bunch of pixels felt a lot more like 'just a game' than refusing to help. Then again, i remember how i used to get annoyed when one of my friends kept killing civilians in some game (don't remember which game it was) when the player was supposed be protecting them. Just a game, yes?
And i'm quite certain i'd never try to ruin somebody else's playing experience.
I still play 'evil' games (GTAs, Carmageddon etc.) but the more 'real' they get, the more my conscience starts to speak up.

I've never liked WASD either, but for a different reason. It leaves my fingers too close together.
Try it out. First place your fingers on WASD. Then try moving your thumb to X. Much more relaxing position for your hand, no?
I'll have to try ESCF though, as you do have point there.

Bones powdered in 15g? Oh give me a break.

Buzzword Buzzword Buzzword Buzzword ...Mushroom Mushroom?
Sorry, it just had to be said :)
As if a million voices cried out and were suddenly silenced?
Oh, I'd imagine the keyboard to be much harder to eat :)

I'd say the day for 'garage movies' is already here, considering the success of Star Wreck...
It's software causing hardware...

...and as has previously been mentioned, "Orkut" means in Finnish "Orgasms". Oh well.

I'd certainly appreciate one... (i'd have to change webmail anyway soon enough)
