There are actually 4 unlaunched Saturn V rockets. One is on display at the Kennedy Center, One at the US Space and Rocket Center Huntsville, Alabama and one at Johnson and I understand one more exists elsewhere. These were all built and ready for launch when Americans decided to save money going to pay for their "Welfare State" of the 1970's etc.
If you want to see how big these are, come to the US Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville, Alabama and there you can see lying down on such rocket and a model standing up. The model is 36 stories tall making it by 25 stories the tallest thing in town other than TV Transmission towers. The fuel tanks for them are so big that a surplus one was made into the dome of the planetarium in Huntsville. The rocket first stage burned 150,000 gallons of fuel a second per each of the 5 engines! I saw the test from my house when I was young. At 9.5 miles range the shaking broke the front window of my house once. The Flames went out about 1 mile or so. It was really quite the thing to see these being transported. In addition I have been on the NASA ships for transporting the boosters.
Arguing the great cost of such launches is pretty silly when the cost was R&D and Manufacture mostly and that was already out of pocket. This illustrates how STUPID our political discussions get on such issues.
The B-2 Bomber for example was reported to cost about $2 Billion a plane per the discussion when the project was killed. Actually the production costs were something like $100 Million and the rest was already out of pocket R&D. Ignorant idiots in the media don't understand such things.

The problem is that they give you a command name and a set of switches and input values not considering that many combinations have no real value or simply don't work together.

I actually have no objection to cameras if the process actually is used to support good Probable Cause warrants, but using it to cause warrants in the first place is very very bad. A Note on Probable Cause: This is a US Constitution feature that the English are not generally aware of. It requires that an actual injury or imminent risk of injury be present to issue a warrant for arrest. It does allow you to survail a potential terrorist target such as your government buildings because it is likely that they might be attacked. It does not allow you to just survail on general basis. It is a wise restriction and prevents a lot of trouble with the state getting out of hand. It does not assume that because you are in "Public" you have given up your personal rights to pass by and be investigated without cause.
This "In Public" stuff you are hearing is based on a false argument about the "right to privacy." The first fact is that just because someone is in public that does not mean they lose their right to privacy. The US Constitution clearly states

It is pretty clear in the bill of rights that you need a person to make the complaint and that person must be subject charge for false claims. This mad rush to justice from a camera or vending machine is neither justice nor safety but rather consists of a crime in of itself.
I believe that few people would object to the cameras being there if they were only to be used in support of Probable Cause investigation. This means that if the cameras were used if a Crime was reported to support the case to deal with it.
The problem is that it will become a case of "Vending Machine Justice" where you will be watched until an "Offense" happens and then you will be pounced on. The problem with this is that Probable Cause requires a real or imminent threat of real injury and not the usual brushing and bumping of daily life.

The logic behind the design of any OS provided by M$ is that they own your computer and can control it at will. These are not security holes they are DESIGN PARAMETERS! If the OS has any scurity where the user may exclude the external control from the machine, it is by definition not going to give the ownership to M$ (Or anyone else for that matter except the operator)
The logical conclusion is that eventually some smart or lucky or just plain accidential events will give all of these control mechanisms over to hackers some of which will take advantage of them for their own purposes.

There are a lot of myths about the resolution and reception of the human eye.
The optical sensor array in the eye is neither dense or accurate. It really is a pretty lousy sensor array by the standards of a modern digital camera. There are processing kludges and some curious process tricks that make the output fantastic though.
For example the resolution of any single sensor in the eye on Luminance is about 5 powers of 10 bright to dark. This is fairly consistent to our modern films and digital sensors. However the eye by some curious tricks adjusts its sensativity so that it produces nearly 14 powers of ten bright dark. For you guys "Grand Challange Types etc." who are building automatic robots take a hint.
In addition to the great range done by process tricks, the sensor is also curiously a "rate of change" sensor not producing any fixed value data like a modern camera. As such it allows a calculus by subtraction (Slide Rule stuff for you guys old enough to remember) to provide motor control in a linear process.
But for the less detailed analysis the sensor here has very lousy resolution and very bad quality output compared to modern cameras. It isn't a very good sensor at all. It is the processing that brings out the great detail and such.

I recently did some serious looking into the issue of tides etc and found that the trigger event for most earthquakes is a Tidal Flux. I will second the motion on MAN pages being stinking rotten messes. I have tried for years to read them and tried to make any useful sense of them. The problem is that they give you a command name and a set of switches and input values not considering that many combinations have no real value or simply don't work together.
I could use a man page with a few examples for how to use the command. Try chmod for example. Goof around with chmod in a recursive fashion and you are likely to have the OS fail to work! It is easy to not know that unless a program is not editable it will fail to work.
Take the wonderful commands for applications of grep!!! Which goes with which and which conflicts with which and why.
Well if you are not confused you have not tried these wonderful tools. They are powerful but obscure. A MAN page which actually gave you a useful script like command [Switches] [FileName] and actually showed you a simple examle or two might help. tar for example can be pretty awful without a good example.

The US IRS website has a document that answers to the Social Security Tax Collections. This tells what Payrolls have been doing in the period. They are up 1% for FY 2003. Note here that applying a simple reality that the population of the labor force rose by 3.5% in the period that means the average worker got a cut in pay or no job or something that resulted in a net 2.5% loss in pay.
This uproar is not being stimulated by Politicians who would like to drop the issue like a hot rock. It is because out here in the USA there is real pain. The job Payroll decrease per capita is compounded by the fact that the upper tier got a very substantial raise making the real loss more like 6% or more. This is the worse results ever. Not even the Great Depression did this kind of damage to the economy.
Now arguing this on a political front one might note that Mr. Kerry and Mr. Bush represent about the same position on the matter so argument should not be made this way. Rather this should be laid to the point of what is going on and why.
Simply Stated there is a massive Trade War in the name of "Free Trade" being prosecuted against the people of the USA by their government. Their wages and profits are highly taxed while their competition enters the market untaxed. On export the same condition applies. The US Government's trade war against its citizens against them in all world markets.
The Outsourcing issue is developing because we in the USA are catching people doing things which are profoundly disloyal and dishonest in our government and speaking up about it. It isn't anything else. The cause is the "Trade War against America" called "Free Trade" by the Politicians who think that renaming treason will make it decent.
The reasons for Baltimore's high crime areas have little or nothing to do with things cameras may help with until CITIZENS are willing to report and testify. Cameras may support testimony but they of themselves are not useful to bring a case to prosecution. This means that until the people of Baltimore want to solve the problem they will not get a solution.
Expensive cameras will only excuse the cops from walking out and working with the citizens.
I would suggest that the English people posting here about not minding cameras etc should take a careful look at their crime stats. You bought a pig in a poke. Sorry but crime went up not down. This stuff doesn't work because it is just another high tech way to be even lazier on the job.
I actually have no objection to cameras if the process actually is used to support good Probable Cause warrants, but using it to cause warrants in the first place is very very bad. Human beings often jostle and bump and any one of a thousand events might well appear to be a crime on camera. The events that require attention should always require a human being to initiate the complaint first.
A Note on Probable Cause: This is a US Constitution feature that the English are not generally aware of. It requires that an actual injury or imminent risk of injury be present to issue a warrant for arrest. It does allow you to survail a potential terrorist target such as your government buildings because it is likely that they might be attacked. It does not allow you to just survail on general basis. It is a wise restriction and prevents a lot of trouble with the state getting out of hand. It does not assume that because you are in "Public" you have given up your personal rights to pass by and be investigated without cause.
This "In Public" stuff you are hearing is based on a false argument about the "right to privacy." The first fact is that just because someone is in public that does not mean they lose their right to privacy. The US Constitution clearly states
This set of rights does not have any condition. The right to be secure in one's person has not been given up by traveling in public. It is absolutely unreasonable that my activities or person should be searched for no cause other than the average daily threat of crime. Clearly some other additional reasons must be present and the Installation of a camera is not one of them.It is pretty clear in the bill of rights that you need a person to make the complaint and that person must be subject charge for false claims. This mad rush to justice from a camera or vending machine is neither justice nor safety but rather consists of a crime in of itself.
I believe that few people would object to the cameras being there if they were only to be used in support of Probable Cause investigation. This means that if the cameras were used if a Crime was reported to support the case to deal with it.
The problem is that it will become a case of "Vending Machine Justice" where you will be watched until an "Offense" happens and then you will be pounced on. The problem with this is that Probable Cause requires a real or imminent threat of real injury and not the usual brushing and bumping of daily life.
We all know that the eyes will be jaded towards catching the people who oppose those in power as opposed to just dealing with problems that citizens report. This is the whole problem with the security demands of today. They all arise from the disrespect of the citizens by the police etc rather than from the damage of the criminals.
On 9/11/2001 we got wonderful camera pictures of Mr. Atta and his gang as they went about their effort to destroy our country. At no point in the pictures did the cameras and the watchful eyes see anything of the horrific crimes going down. Nor could they have done so until the knives were used. All that we will get out of such thinking as is going on is the rise of a much worse terrorism by the State than was ever contemplated by the terrorists.

The logic behind the design of any OS provided by M$ is that they own your computer and can control it at will. These are not security holes they are DESIGN PARAMETERS! If the OS has any scurity where the user may exclude the external control from the machine, it is by definition not going to give the ownership to M$ (Or anyone else for that matter except the operator)
The logical conclusion is that eventually some smart or lucky or just plain accidential events will give all of these control mechanisms over to hackers some of which will take advantage of them for their own purposes.
Eventually the level of traffic on the Internet arising this way will crush the band width and crash the net. This is not long off. At the current rate of saturation growth, this date is about 18 months away. Then either these Zombie machines will have to be removed from the net, a chore which will eventually prove impossible to handle or the OS will have to be banned access from the net. I can forsee the day when M$ machines are banned from attaching from the Internet for this reason.
The logical outcome here is that the ownership of machines must be in the hands of the operator or the system crashes entirely. Thus the M$ control will break shortly.

There are a lot of myths about the resolution and reception of the human eye.
The optical sensor array in the eye is neither dense or accurate. It really is a pretty lousy sensor array by the standards of a modern digital camera. There are processing kludges and some curious process tricks that make the output fantastic though.
For example the resolution of any single sensor in the eye on Luminance is about 5 powers of 10 bright to dark. This is fairly consistent to our modern films and digital sensors. However the eye by some curious tricks adjusts its sensativity so that it produces nearly 14 powers of ten bright dark. For you guys "Grand Challange Types etc." who are building automatic robots take a hint.
In addition to the great range done by process tricks, the sensor is also curiously a "rate of change" sensor not producing any fixed value data like a modern camera. As such it allows a calculus by subtraction (Slide Rule stuff for you guys old enough to remember) to provide motor control in a linear process.
But for the less detailed analysis the sensor here has very lousy resolution and very bad quality output compared to modern cameras. It isn't a very good sensor at all. It is the processing that brings out the great detail and such.

I recently did some serious looking into the issue of tides etc and found that the trigger event for most earthquakes is a Tidal Flux. Remember there are Land Tides, Atmospheric Tides as well as Ocean Tides. Land Tides are quite significant. The Flux is an interaction between the Sun, Moon and the Earth. Most earthquakes occur when the moon is very close and is at 90, 45, 22.5 degrees etc to the sun. The flux is stronger on the closer to right angles and where the moon/sun aggrigate is accelerating the land. This I would assume is both cause and trigger but it is not fully known.
Other research shows that Full Moons tend to produce more tidal stress than new moons due to Gravity shielding.
There is a lot of research going on regards the prediction of Earthquakes and to represent the most successful to date tech is that like a big board that is being cracked by a hydrolic press, it begins to snap an pop a little then suddenly it fails all together. By listening for the pattern of small pops the big pop becomes more and more certain.
The Tidal techtonic forces have been observed on the moons of Jupiter and Saturn. This is related to the charging up of energy.
UFO type sightings often are precursors to Earthquakes. This is because the earth emits certain sub atomic radiation that appears as solid shiny balls/disks or fast moving ones. This appears to be related to the energy holding the structure of matter together.
This is not a realistic presentation. The issue of vehicle size and other issues is really not related in Europe to the USA. The USA is a vast continental region which is has a very low population density. The uses and reasons for vehicles there and in Europe where the density is very high are profoundly different.
It would be entirely in error to say that the US Tax system encourages the bigger cars etc with the possible exception of some fast write offs for business but those are not specific to any purpose.
US Climate and road conditions are vastly different to Europe. I own a vehicle that must haul around up to 7 persons quite regularly. It often has to double as a truck to haul loads. In Europe the density of population alters the multiple use needs a lot.
The Climate here get very hot and very cold. It is quite wild and (Europe does not get many tornadoes because of this difference) demands better control (More Power). I am going to be traveling this week some 1500 km in temperatures reaching about 35 C! Try finding that very often in the EU! There will be 5 persons on the trip. Try that in your EU small car. The vehicle gets about 28 mpg. That corresponds for comparison to a single person car getting about 140 mpg or a whole lot better than some think.
I would also note that the EU tends to depend for its economy on the US guys buying their goods. It seems the "Problem" described is really the solution for the EU types. But if they don't want me working, consuming etc, I suppose they can go out of business. It is after all the fervent desire I keep hearing from them.
I will kick in just a point or two more here! To be blunt, the reason the EU types have any civil liberties at all is about $7 Trillion in American Treasure about a Half Million American Lives and OH MY just a bit of that American Defiance and Suspicion of Authority. Actually the problem with publishing certain medical discoveries in the "Standard Outlets" is that they are "Standard Outlets." The discovery that stomach ulcers were bacteria caused was so contraversial that the MD who discovered it was nearly cashiered out of the profession. The fact of his ability to treat them effectively had no account. The fact that he had cultured H-Pilori had no account and got him no standing in the standard outlet journals for medicine.
I have worked Heart Transplant Unit as RN. We knew early as 1992 that the causes of heart disease were Viral and Bacterial (Several causes). We also knew that Cholesterol had nothing to do with the problem.
The presence of Homcystine an indicator of cellular destruction was a key indicator but not diagnostic because of other sources of destroyed cells.
The arterial plaquing associated with heart disease is bacterial plaquing similar to that of tooth plaques caused by various bacteria most prominant of which is Hemolytic Strep A. What happens is during your life, you get an infection somewhere. Most likely it is in your gums. This infection seeds germs into the blood which find cavitation points in the body to hide out where the normal immune factors of the blood have a hard time getting to them. There they set up plaques to hold on and to defend themselves from the body. They grow essentially in stasis (very slowly) blooming out when the body defenses are weakened or the body oxygen level drops or the blood sugar level gets too high. These blooms are frequently the events people know as heart attack and stroke.
It would be no surprise that some other agents such as a "Nano-Bacteria" were at the root of this stuff. I would suspect though that these are actually agents of control that are seeded out of the larger bacteria to control the host. Bacteria do this sort of thing a lot.
It just isn't the same in the USA as the rest of the world. Generally the rest of the world expects kids to stay at home until they marry. The compressed locations of Europe and Asia tend to make this most practical. They also have a real good social order that tends to respect the idea that family is very important.
The USA grew up with people who had really moved out (to another country) and also with lots of space. As such we tend to view it as a requirement to move out. I think in many ways the Non US way is superior in human terms. It does have its price. The US way has its own advantages.

Dairy Price rises are the result of a regulated price being raised. It must be fairly stated that the price was kept very low for a very long time and was crushing the farmers. In addition the root cause IS ENERGY PRICES.

The Issue of OPEC is not really true this time around. The issue is some much more basic stuff like a US Tax structure that is clobbering the domestic production. It is stuff like environmentalists who cannot allow production. It is stuff like the Hummers who drink gas like it was going out of style. It is stuff like the lies on Wall Street where Shell for example overstated reserves falsely to inflate ficticious profits. It is nearly a perfect storm of this sort of stuff.
There are solutions but continuing to hire political leaders as the USA and many other countries are doing who combined together have the intelligence and vision of 3 rocks and one large brick is going to make things continue to get worse.
Simple up front solutions that would do a lot include.
Require Auto Inflation devices for car tires. This would save nearly 10% of gas used
Require Ultra Filters on engine oil. This would save another 5% to 10%
Push automated driving tech like the "Grand Challenge." This has potential to cut use by 50% or more.
Push better management of traffic. This has the potential to save another 10% of the gross.There is a lot we can do without impinging on people's lives and taking away their ability to be free.
Every day when I drive to work, I look at the beautiful slope of the west side of the Cumberland Plateau. That beautiful cliff line that I see was cut by a Glacier 2000 feet thick. It was long gone before mankind had any influence on the environment
Is the climate changing? Yes! Does mankind have much to do with it? Probably little or nothing! Will the Glacier return. Possibly some day.
Where I live has been under the ocean and a desert and glaciated and been tropical and is currently sub tropical. All of this happened before some ECO-NUT showed up and had a panic attack about change. Maybe if the place warms up a bit, the orange trees will again be grown in South Alabama. If it cools down, maybe fir trees will grow there.
If the ECO-NUTS actually believe that the place is going to get cold, one would think that they would quit caring about Nuclear Power Plants and their waste heat.

It is routine in high tech welding to use a microwave signal to produce a conduction path to make a low volatage arc welder produce a stable contact point weld. Who knows? It probably is static that discharged. Maybe the discharge was assisted by the cell phone signals. This stuff gets pretty funky when you really look into it.
The nature of electrical conduction and signals makes the evidence be pretty hard to track down. Did you ever try to track down an intermittently failing circuit to the cause? Possible ~ Yes? Likely ~ Probably not. It is a rule that given enough chances any possible event no matter how unlikely will occur.
