    Whats to stop me put up a load of mirrors around the items I want to protect?

    First, it would attract alot of attention if you are trying to hide something...a shimmering metal object is easier to spot then a camoflauged one.

    However, I thought you could make a mirrored building or vehicle, then cover it with a fast melting/evaporating coating. The laser hits the coating, disipates it and then hits the mirrored surface.

    These people don't have photographic memories. When I run for political office they won't be able to print out a picture of me with a piece of snot hanging out my nose because I'm in mid sneeze.

    People don't care as much about other people because the processing to be done about a situtation happens right then and there, inside someones head. People care about computers because storage of their activity is indefinate, and has the potential to come back and haunt them much more easily than someones faded memories.

    I remember a story about ebillboards that would change their display based on what radio station you were listening to while in proximity of the device.

    Could this be scaled down and used to locate police, who would be tuned into police radio frequency?

    if someone's going to make a million dollars off that idea...please toss just a few bucks my way.

    Like me.

    I work with raw DV files on a daily basis. DV takes up 13GB per hour of footage. At that rate, a 300GB drive could fit almost 23 hours of video.

    As someone who has worked on a project with over 40 hours of video, I can tell you there is a need. I'll take two, please.

    Just follow the money.

    On the apple USB keyboards, F14 is not exactly the same as Scroll lock. I have a MiniView III KVM from IOGear. It's on screen display requires double tapping the scroll lock key. I can't get to the OSD with my apple keyboard because it doesn't have a true scroll lock key. Bummer. And yes, I know it can be switched to a double tap of cntrl...but when you play PC games...double tapping cntrl is a common occurance.

    Would you rather they go after the P2P apps again and possibly get even more restrictive internet legislation passed or they go after the people responsible for violating current copyright laws?

    We would rather not have them attacking and devestating the lives of innocent people. If someone is sharing massive ammounts of files, fine, throw him in jail and let him get analy raped, contract AIDs and learn how to be an effective criminal, all the while draining my tax dollars. Copyright infringers deserve it!

    It never leaks.

    I recommend the Ion Cross pen as well for its overall usefullness. It's great to drop in your pocket or attach to your keychain. It also makes getting girls phone numbers a little slicker...the thing snaps open and shut with a bit of visual flare.

    That being said, I have had one of the many Cross pens I've used leak...only one out of about 5 I have bought so far. (they are easy to lose) The good thing is, even though it leaked, the ink stayed inside the pen and didn't get on my clothing.

    umm no. I dont see why you people are expecting ports with this leaked code. Anyone that even attempted to distrbute a port would be shut down by Valve.

    If I had the time and inclination, I would attempt a port. I know alot of geeks who have nothing but time on their hands. If the source is complete, someone out there will attempt a port.

    Valve can't stop someone working on a port, if they don't know that that person is working on the port. It would be interesting if the person/group worked on a port, then tried to sell it back to Valve.

    Is it conceivable that given todays technology, Apple could cram the features of the messagepad 2100 into the form factor of the palm Zire 71?

    I miss the Newton Interface...it was simply amazing. Why hasn't anyone come close? PalmOS, even v5 is utter crap. It feelsl ike some first year cs students half assed homework assignment.

    While I agree that a palmOS device can do most if not all of the functions of the TI calculators...one thing they lack is good tactile feedback.

    Inputing numbers with the stylus is painful, and the minature keyboards are just as bad.

    Why not use PATRIOT for that SoBig chump too?

    Because that SoBig chump got more newscoverage and has more mindshare than Alamo. If more people were aware of their dwindling rights..the masses might get upset enough to fight back, or atleast become somewhat disagreeable.

    Similiarly, it's easier to kill a streetbum than to take out the president. Atleast, in such a way that you can delay being caught until the act is long since past, and no one cares anymore.
