    you have to rely on a third party that may or may not choose to support your phone for you.

    what happens when no one at XDA wants to support your phone for you?

    um that's not true. you can run any of the PowerPC apps on a brand new intel powered machine right now.

    with rosetta and classic mode of leopard it isn't hard. not sure about 68k compatability but that is slightly more difficult.

    of course given the fact that Apple has switched Processors arch. not just once, but 3 times in that same time makes it a lot more difficult.

    i am waiting for that to happen with the TSA airport scans actually.

    some thing like celebrity TSA Scans, showing all the boob jobs. all the images are done digitally so they are kept . The system is supposed to delete them, however a simple setting change can fix that. with time date stamps, and an accurate watch, guards in the back will know which files belong to whom.

    Check again, Flash isn't supported on the xoom for another 1-2 months if your lucky and adobe moves quickly.

    Adobe has to certify flash ready devices before it will be allowed. That is why Apple told them to fuck off. Apple doesn't like third parties ruining their devices and making them late to the market.

    I would also check again on real reviews of mobile flash. In short it works, but only kinda of, and it sucks down your battery if you got something that actually runs. I have found dozens of flash "apps" that don't work on mobile flash.

    The zoom is shipping without flash as adobe hasn't certified it yet.

    Adobe is taking the stance of ships us a dozen developer models and specs for free pay us to port flash and maybe in 6 months you can have a half ass copy.

    As it is many flash websites are broken with flash arm as the features aren't supported. Sure the basics work. But move beyond video and animation and full support falls away.

    The AR drone with a bigger battery pack and longer range(no wifi) is exactly what they want out of the devices. nimble enough to go inside, stable enough for winds.

    the AR drone might be a toy but it is a better package than most of them so far. especially for urban environments.

    The trade federation didn't become the empire though.

    The trade federation was setup to become terrorists, to raise the alert and fear levels enough in the republic for the republic to willing throw away their freedoms in the same of security creating the empire from a republic. Not unlike how the Romans did it.

    What remains to be seen is whether or not the same can happen to the USA. We do have on major advantage over the Romans. Our presidents are term limited. Even afraid of the outside, 50% of the population won't let someone stay in office a day longer without using weapons.

    Every thing is always better way back when. When women stayed in the kitchens, your slaves did your gardening, and you had hours and hours of free time to do nothing but smoke weed, drink, and talk about the good old days.

    personally I would rather have an upgrade for itunes, that broke it into three parts.

    Store, sync, and shocker of shocks media player.

    I like to say Itunes is the new IE 6. it does everything (badly) and it is it's own security nightmare, but you have no choice in using it.

    My iphone 3G is 2.5 years old. HTC, samsung and motorola so far aren't supporting hardware older than 18 months and then only if it was really popular in the beginning. The very fact that there are Android phones selling right now with 2.1 on them is ludicrous. the fact those phone will never get a software update is just scary.

    When apple ships 4.3 all devices that they are currently selling will ship with it standard. Minus the ones currently in the supply chain. In 6-8 weeks you will have a hard time finding a device running the old version in the retail chain.

    MSFT does something similar for most of windows. When a new version comes out the OEM's start installing it fairly quickly.

    Android they are content on selling a three year old OS.

    and your reason why tablets have taken this long to work into the market place and why ever version up until now has sucked.

    You can't imagine your way out of a paper bag.

    a tablet will never replace your desktop it isn't meant to. if you think it will your wrong. It is a complement. a secondary or tertiary device. do you have one sheet of paper one pencil and one ruler to work with? Or do you have multiple pens/ pencils, dozens of sheets of paper, rulers, compasses, squares, scissors tape, paper clips, etc.

    a tablet isn't going to be your only computer.

    That is why many companies keep spare computers mostly setup, so when one goes down and it isn't a 5 minute fix, you replace the machine out, and take the old one back for it's 12-18 month reinstall.

    Reinstalling windows regularly is like changing the oil in your car. If your not doing it often you have hidden problems that you may not know about. This isn't even about viruses. Windows loves to randomly trash itself.

    Now to be fair I haven't used windows 7 yet. I have to get a copy of it but I am unwilling to spend $200 on something that i only need occasionally. I know somethings have changed for the better. Oh and it is $200 because I am not a student, and refuse to install limited versions when the full OS X is $130.

    It is the third party repositories and side loading apps that are causing this to happen to being with.

    users can't be trusted to do the smart, right thing. they don't understand why their app needs internet access, or text access. so they click on yes all the time. they have been trained to just give the application what it requests because that is the ONLY answer the application will accept. If your new game doesn't run without internet access then it gets it no questions asked. even if it doesn't actually need that but for the trojan that also gets installed as well.

    Giving the average user control, is like giving them a plane and believing that since they have an autopilot they can land safely.

    Apple's walled garden has limited this kind of behavior so far despite having 10's of million of more phones sold.

    It is sophisticated because the emails could have come from the person sending them. Proper grammar,similar writing styles, with enough background information to sound like it was legitimate.

    basically unless you were a close personal friend you couldn't easily tell the difference, unlike the $38.6 million that some guy who just emailed me has stashed in Libyan and is having a hard time getting it out safely.

    He partially owned the company. you can't fire someone like that. you have to buy them out.

    Which means he got a nice golden parachute too. Hopefully it was real gold and they kick him out of a large building with it.

    I do both.

    I use one mail client as POP3 client. The rest use IMAP to keep it updated across the board.

    the POP3 client downloads all saved mail that it hasn't gotten so far, so I can archive it and store it in local backups.

    True but t-Mobil in the USA sucks hard.
    you barely get coverage beyond the major cities, if your lucky. about 90% of the places I visit will get little to no signal at all.

    My two year AT&T iphone bill is roughly $1700 maybe a bit more if I text a lot.

    Pretty much all cell phone data plans are vastly overpriced. I have been trying to decide if to upgrade, as I use my iphones features all the time, or if I keep my iphone 3G going for a fourth year(I am currently 2.5 years into it).

    The battery is surprisingly is holding out strong still.

    you can't light a fire, that burns wood and you just said you won't cut down the last tree.

    Also sleeping out in the open is fine, as long as the bugs are light, it doesn't rain or snow, and the wind doesn't blow to hard.

    Why don't you try living like you suggest, and give me all your stuff. you don't need it after all, you can make clothes too. oh wait that requires you to kill animals, and plants too. guess you had better walk around naked.
