    What really confuses me about MS licensing Unix from SCO is that they didn't need to. Windows for Unix systems, is at version 3.5. That means MS was illegally using Unix source for versions up to 3. Or they were using something that didn't need a License, and why didn't they continue to use that software, why buy a license for something when you don't need to, unless you are funneling money.

    IBM has 45 days to give SCO AIX but SCO must show all lines of code in 45 days to the court. How can they comply when they have already told the judge that can't until they get the code.

    Well that is SCO's whole case, they are interpreting their contracts, whatever way they feel is most helpful to them at this point in time(changes on a regular basis) They want certian contract made non-exstiant while enhancing others with super human powers, like the ability to make huge leaps of illogic in a single bound.

    I remember once about 5 years ago, I came across a 17year old girl in a quake 2 room. After beating the crap out of each other, we joined forces and kicked the crap out of anyone else who entered the room.

    I still smile when I remember one shot we were standing next to each other, when some one came around a corner, we both let loose rockets and he didn't stay long after that.

    All said and doen a woman can compete with 90% of the men players with practice, the top 10% will take a while for them to penetrate simply due to skill level but that day can and will come.

    Actually if you really wanted to, you can build your own plane, using twin turbo jets(yes real jet engines) a uhf video downllink, a radio control uplink for control, using directional anntenna's and by flying 50' or less off the deck, I bet one could fly 20 miles with out being picked-up. unless of course it is seen. sound levels are minimal, using stealth tech, and camoflauge, It would be intersting to try, unfortuneately I don't have an extra $6000 to actually try it.

    umm that was being controlled manually by a remote control. Other than some basic mixing of the controls,(a little elevator when using turning) I bet it would be hard to pilot. You would still need to be a pilot, and not some lazy geek, with 100,000 hours in MS flight sim but it looks like it is possible.

    disclaimer I never have nor ever will use MS Flight sim.

    Try reading for once, GPL version 3 is supposed to take into account the incompatiblities with the new Apache License, and xfree86 4.4 new license. Then again it isn't out yet either.

    I fail you boy for being a geek. it was 2001 that the obelisk was found on the moon, but we haven't gone to the moon in 30 years so we don't know if it is there or not. Second it was 2010 when the second start was formed out of jupiter. WE got time left.

    AMD doesn't Sun's sparc's line doesn't comes close to be good for laptops, the only mystery processor for 64 bit for laptops would seem to be the G5 hopefully with the new manufactoring process, the G5 laptop will be out soon.

    Yes just remember that most slashdotters surf from work when they can't get o other machines, I use mozilla on win 98 from work, IP protected by 2 firewalls and nat. I use windows and Beos and debian and osx at home. which sections are low I will set them up to help sort out the hits

    You also realize right that Airport base station is the only one outthere with a modem, such you can use it with dail-up if you need to. You won't get the bandwidth but youstill won't need wires. Add hock wireless network with net connection, a phone line, and power recpticle sold seperately

    You do realize the first person who can make a mass attack virus for the Mac will be Famous right. He might get caught, but windows users will treat him like hackers treated kevin Mitnick. He will be infamous.

    In my opionon there is greater reason to attack mac, simply because of fame, Attacking windows is done for a reason, test an Idea, to see if you can bring down the Net, get passwords, and install spam relays(mydoom). Attacking the mac will be the ultimate hack if you can turn the mac into a security the level of windows.

    Netcraft shows what 65% percent of webservers are apache. Apache does run on windows, but how many of those installs are there, I have never come across one, but that doesn't mean it doesn't exsit. Add in how many *nix servers that are not running apache minus the windows macines that are and you are somewhere in-between 65%- 70%.

    Their hasn't been a mac virus since system 7. That's right since around the time of Win95. Second Windows virii can take out the whole internet just becuase of bandwidth issues, Even though 70% of the server out there run a version of *NIX. Why aren't Those servers affected other than bandwidth, well there hasn't been a *nix worm(sobig, msblaster) since 1989, that's right 15 years, Microsoft can't go 15 weeks.(yes every 4 months is about right). MAC OSX is based off of BSD which is a *NIX so that right away elminates 80% of the viruses microsoft faces from a programing stand point. The other 20% are stupid users(mydoom) and that can only be fixed through teaching users.

    So Yes even if MAC OSX was the top dog there would only be one or two major problems a year, Unlike the 4-5 you get with Microsoft.

    I run both windows, and linux. I use the linux box to connect to the outside world, and the windows box to play games on.

    um, wine only works on the x86 archetitures, you have to have an amd, or pentium processor. unlike bochs which simulates the whole computer, and can be cun on anything, giving you ultimate in portablity.

    TSCOG (The SCO Group, not to be confused with (SCO Santa cruise Org.) is nothing but a lying pack of bastard's, then again Most here knew that a long time ago. Not one of TSCOG claims has ever been proven, and when they go down, I hope their "golden parachutes" catch on fire. Darl and Company won't ever work again. They won't be allowed near anything, because, any one who hires them will be sued by them. They are litigatus bastards all the way.
