*sigh* your exact argument has been been debunked 10000000 times on /. already, but ok i'll bite one more time.

The only reason no one changes from MS office is due to the low pain threshold users have. The equation is thus - as long as the pain of changing does not exceed the painfulness of using office no change will happen.

MS has also been CONVICTED of leveraging it's OS to prevent all new comers from challenging. the pain isn't from any failings of other software options, it's interference from MS.

sounds like the windows eula i had once "by opening this box you agree to the terms listed inside" it's a violation of contract law to ask someone to agree to something you haven't allowed them to see.

i seriously doubt gateway will win this. you can't tell someone they have no right to legal recourse either, to allow that strips the courts of their power and doubt they will be happy about that attempt.

  11. EULA's are not a legal contract on Man Sues Gateway Because He Can't Read EULA · · Score: 4, Insightful
contracts require the ability to negotiate the terms and talk with the other party. EULA's do not allow this. more so ALL eula's are given to you post purchase of software/hardware, which means you've been forced into agreeing to something without seeing the details first, which is not legal under most contract law.

i've always had the opinoin that eula's are not legal, and are just used as a bully tactic. i hope this guy wins.

no the main material is silicon and it's plentiful, the expenive part is the production, it requires a LOT of processing and quality control. people keep rambling on about moore's "law" but fail to realise the price of a cpu hasn't really fell very much at all in 10 years, they've just gotten faster (which is all moores prediction is to do with). in the case of solar panels this will NOT help them sell. they need to get much much cheaper for adoption to happen.
