    as usual some reasearch lab is in need of some funding so they make a release about finding links between something commonly used and the radiation boogy man. just talk about radioactivity and the avgerage idiot puts on his negativity goggles due to massive ignorance. the largest source of radiation you will come into contact with is the SUN. think about it, in 30 minutes it can cook your bloody skin. name me a stronger source your ever likely to run into?

    actually your totally wrong. motion blur is when an object moves so fast our brains aren't able to disinquish it clearly. ghosting is the effect caused when a pixel changes colour slowly and you see a "ghost" image of whats moving. this effect happens on both crt's and lcd's, however it tends to be more pronounced on lcd's. just move your mouse around the screen quickly on your crt and you will see an example. you look like a right idiot now don't you!

    as usual slashdot drones are way off. this is news worth because: 1. 4 gig is huge for solid state storage 2. the speed is inscrease at a great rate 3. MOST IMPORTANTLY - a disk that doesn't spin, WONT FUCK UP. think how much more reliable these things will be. granted 4 gig is too smal to be useful to me, and it doesn't look fast enough to be worth it. but solid state disks is there the future should lie.

    hardly anyone is downloading at 100mbits flat out 24/7. the advantage of 100mbits is that when i DO download something i'll get it in seconds not hours. current backbones will handle the load just fine.

    you can sign any contract you want, it's meaningless untill proven in court. ther eis such a thing called contract law, which means if something is being asked of you in the contract which is unresonable then it's void. i would say any contract stating you CAN'T work for a year after leaving the company is bullshit and won't stand up. no one has the right to prevent you making an income and putting food on the table. however it's likely it's over simplified in this case, and probably states if he CHOOSES to leave then he can't work in the computer industry in certain roles for a year.

    your missing the point. if neither company will fill the demand, then why the fuck do they have the right to stop the local government doing it? obviously residents have lobbied for this to happen, due to being sick of waiting for either corp. to do it. you can't purposly stay out of a market, but keep ANYONE else servicing the demand just because you PLAN on coming in later and making money on it. it doesn't matter who is servicing it, it's totally irrelvant in the context of what is happening. it's exactly like someone living on a dirt road, asking a company to seal it for them, being told it's not worth the trouble, then going to the local council getting them to do it and having said company whip around and cry "you can't do that, i would have made a killing off that 12 months from now!"

    the blame for linux's lack of desktop maturity and lack of driver support for nvidia etc, lies squarely on the pre x.org group, XFree. nvidia were submitting patchs as were ati and they were being ignored. just look at how the whole project stagnated for YEARS, people screaming out for features, developers submitting patchs, wanting cvs commit access, and it was all ignored. the whole linux/gnu/bsd desktop situation would be years ahead if it wasn't for those turkeys
