I don't have 4.5 million, but that sounds like a STEAL! No seriously, it's over 2 football fields long and can sail around the world, not to mention land planes on it.
Imagine the CHICKS you could get! Screw a mansion, you have a FREAKIN' Aircraft Carrier! Countries tremble when you draw near! Can P.Diddy AKA Puff Daddy say that about his home? Huh? Can he? I don't think so.
Who exactly is this Jim Waldo and why should I listen to what he has to say?
artima.com: "Jim Waldo is a Distinguished Engineer with Sun Microsystems, where he is the lead Jini architect."
Ok... and? How many "lead architects" are there out there? Every hardware manufacture has a lead architect, why is this guy's opinion special enough to be given a article on/.?
oh jesus! I had LASIK surgery and didn't even think to check the software running the machine. Mine turned out fine, but that scares the crap outta me now.
"As an aquarium enthusiast, I have to chime in that this (fish) case mod is probably a disaster. "
Then I guess you don't know your fish.
Beta fish can live their entire lives in a very tiny fish bowl, as little as 12 oz of water from what I've seen. They come to the top to breath atmospheric air, and since they don't pull oxygen from the water they are less susceptible to pollutants in the water, so there is no need for filtration or aeration.
So the case mod would be very easy. Just leave about 2" wide for the fish, put some holes in the top to allow air in and to sprinkle a little food in, and you're good to go.
I've even seen tanks with the beta sealed inside, with a plant providing oxygen and food. Just add light.

Segway creator Dean Kamen recently purchased 10% of RockStar Games.
No word if this has anything to do with RockStar Games making the Segaway look like a reasonable form of transportation in their popular Grand Theft Auto 3 game, rather than the slow piece of shit coat rack that it really is.
In (more) other news, I've recently aquired a Segaway. The keys seem to be missing, so I will part with it for only $100. First come first serve, and cash only please.

I've noticed in Asia that space is limited and gasoline prices are high, so the solution has become little scooters.
They're less than 1 grand, can keep up with traffic (30-45+ mph depending on model), and get 80-100mpg. Why aren't those taking off in the US? I'd rather drive a scooter than spend 5 grand on a 25mph top-speed golf cart.
Only reason I don't drive a scooter is because I have to share the road with humongous trucks, SUVs and 18 wheelers and I don't want to be squashed. Until the laws change to make such vehicles illegal I'll have to stick with a reasonably large car.
"why specialised hardware is not used more often for tasks that are often performed..."
It already is. Video cards are specialized hardware to help game framerates, and several cards are available to help with video rendering. Your modern 2ghz processor is suitable for every other task, and at less then $100 it's much cheaper than purchasing a few specialized chips.
Are you like me and disappointed that the customers that bothered to stay not only missed two of the best minutes of the movie but didn't even get a pass to see the movie again?
If so, here's the address to complain to:

FREE POPCORN?? They screw them out of the best part of the movie and all they got was free popcorn next time... IF there's a next time... they come back??
That's crap. The people that left got what was owed, but if I had stayed that movie theater better give me at least one free pass if they ever want to see my face in that theater again.
Besides, they missed the best part, they should have at least been given one free pass so they could come back and see the part they missed!!!
From securityfocus.com "But then, the film does take place in the future. Is Zalewski surprised to see unpatched SSH servers running in the year AD 2199? "
Ugh, will someone please that author the movie is NOT filmed in the future?
It's suppose to happening in our current view of reality, but suggests that our view is not correct, that it's really two hundred years in the future and we're just living out 1999 in a computer simulation. So that scene in the movie is happening in 1999, not 2199.
Aw crap, why'd you have to go and say that?? Now if it fails FlexPlay Technologies will blame it on DVD rippers, and it'll be another reason for makers of DVD-copying software to be sued, and somehow the RIAA will stick their big nose in.
The end of the article has quotes from Don Pavlish, host of DonsBossPage.com, "a Web site for slackers".
Went to the site and some of his "Stealth Surfing" advice seemed a little low-tech... then I noticed the dates:

1996! That was 8 years ago! And the best slacking advice in the past 8 years is to set the task bar to auto-hide??
I'm not picking on him for one old tip either, all the Stealth Surfing tips all 7 or 8 years old.
"Typically, if you haven't touched your computer in a while, the people you chat with online see an "idle" message next to your name. Diehard slackers can crack into the program settings to make themselves appear perpetually available."
ummm... since when did changing program options become cracking?
Guess if I add gas to my car I'm a mechanic? If I brush my teeth am I a dentist? Does building a toy rocket make me a rocket scientist?
Great, but what DVDs do you plan on playing when the device uses micro-discs? Can't throw your regular DVDs in, and if you could how big is this device going to be?? If it really did use standard DVDs then it's almost identical to a PSOne with LCD attached and the ability to play DVDs.
Nice they threw in a place for the joystick and 6.1 surround sound, but exactly where does my huge HP laserjet printer go?
Anyone else have the feeling this is the last time we'll be hearing about this chair? Wonder what their eBay user id is, I'd like to see what stuff they'll be selling off in 6-12 months.
Laptops are almost never worthless, as long as they work you could easily resell them. Many 10+ year old 486 laptops are for sale on ebay and they sell well.
oh, and thanks for the nice picture on the school's website;)

wrong. CS people have to sit through Ethics lectures too. In fact that's the first required class.

Point is a beta fish would live quite awhile (years) in a small container. What, you think ants are happy in those narrow cases?
you know, with one more cent you'd have enough for the electrodes

Seriously though, didn't someone on here say these are virtually impossible to crack? 128-bit encryption or something?

That would have made it more interesting. They're stuck on foot, no ship, Squids after them... yeah that sounds like a good "to be continued" part.

"Lifetime warranty" on the internet means two to three years, the average time between the .com bubble bursts.
