CMOS chips are used in canon DSLRs, even their EOS series. CMOS chips are great for pictures, and better than a single CCD for video, but, and this is debatable, not as good as 3 CCD for HD video. i'd imagine not as good as 3CCD for SD video as well.
this should also be noted: serenity on amazon is still listed as april 18th, tuesday.
million dollar baby and all them were pushed back about a week ago, this is old news to anyone reading engadget.com. and certainly doesn't mean the doom of HD-DVD, since blu-ray is still set for june/july, AFAIK.
have you USED VB.NET? or C#? i can do anything in vb.net that i can do in C#, and it makes my head ache less. i can do C++ programming all day long, mind you... but in terms of getting things done quickly and powerfully... i'd much rather write VB.NET code than anything else. especially if i'm getting paid to do it. you must be talking about VB 6, in which case i'd agree with you. VB.NET is an OO, structured, efficient, powerful language. and i'm a microsoft hater as much as the next guy.
clever marketing of a proprietary product is monopolistic?! hell no! the competitors could (and are) creating products that mimic the success of the ipod, but they can't make a budge, because apple's made a name for themselves, not because they've been doing anything monopolistic. it IS a long shot, and with due reason -- its not a monopoly, just a successful product. because a company decides to only let their software work with their product is nothing new. look at sony with the minidisc. after all, you CAN burn CDs from itunes, and transfer that to something else.
i think they should hire Puffy or P. Diddy or whatever his name is this week.
"vista or die! the world is changing, and only you can make a change. if you don't vista, you won't have a say in how the world works. one vista makes a difference."
if they're moving FROM sql server TO mysql, then they shouldnt have much of a problem. AFAIK, SQL server doesnt support two tables with the same name, regardless of case. and if they keep their data in tact, case should be preserved. its really not a big deal. actually doesn't MySQL still search a table no matter what case you use? like if you do "select * from releases" it will search the Releases table if its there? i would hardly call it a "major, important consequence", assuming they are half decent database admins.
IIRC, apple patented "it just works" technology, leaving all other software and hardware companies with "it might just work... maybe." technology, hence your floppy problem (and yes, i am referring to your computer disk drive, not something that can be cured with medicine). microsoft quickly grabbed that patent up though, so linux users are left with "g-d damnit, i'll hack this til it works" technology.
was it available in jaguar or panther's xcode? i havent done much development in tiger. if it was, i dont know how i missed it.
but still, i started using it today after finding out about it from other/.ers above, and its no where near as usable as microsoft's intellisense, although it is a big help. for example, i was looking for the runModalInDirectory function or the setAllowedFileTypes and setAllowsMultipleSelection of the NSOpenPanel and it didn't show any of them at all. maybe there's some modifier key i'm missing or something, but they aren't showing up. intellisense is more intuitive.
interface builder is great. xcode is pretty good. but the whole thing could be easier to use for people like me that don't have the entire NS* libraries memorized, and don't feel like going to developer.apple.com for each call we want to do. meaning: they need "intellisense"-like support..NET allows me to get programs done really fast because i can quickly find the proper name for a function by hitting period. xcode makes me go to developer.apple.com, and doesnt tell me its incorrect until i try to build. sure, this is like old days. but we're past the old days. xcode is *NOT* a tool for rapid app development. and other solutions like wxwindows and all those others for mac are a joke. x11 development for mac is a joke. real basic is a joke. we need a RAD solution for mac, and apple is almost there with xcode. they could even do the intellisense with the bracket notation, like whenever you do [NSString then space it would show a list of methods or whatever. its just too hard to get anything done. java makes things a little easier on the mac, but i still have to look up every NS* call i have to do.
if you're a moderate sized business, i'd imagine you've got 10 people in your IT department that are working on this problem. say their salaries are $40,000 each. since a solution is obviously not overnight, if it takes you 2 months to convert to openoffice, and we'll forget the time that it'll take to train people on the differences, it will cost your company $66k in labor in time spent converting it, and that's a modest figure.
$65k for office 2003 doesn't sound too bad, considering rollout is usually quick and painless.
sadly enough, this is very true. i have fundamentalist friends that believe the crap jerry falwell was spouting on TV after katrina, that they deserved to die because new orleans was a sinful city. that is not the god i know.
but from what i've found, evolution fits perfectly with the creation story in genesis. 1:20 "and god said, let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that hath life" - first mention of life, and where do most evolutionists think micro-organisms came from? the sea. and after that god created creatures "after their kind", which implies that different kinds of creatures stemmed from common ancestors, and there is nothing in evolution or natural selection to say that god didn't invoke it. but hey, just my $0.02
to be fair, you didn't RTFA, you just LATFP (looked at the f***ing pics), and even then the pics showed a headphone adapter with an optical cable through the middle. this is not uncommon, the apple airport express uses the same technology with an optical cable through the middle of the headphone adapter. the technology for that (optical through the middle of a headphone jack) is available today, but what they do on the other end is another story.
$499 for a desktop computer that is half the size of a cappuccino pc that is usually more expensive for the same components is a premium? how about $1999 for a machine that is comparable to an alienware box? its not a "premium" if you compare it to non-cheap-ass PC hardware.
and you write off the software as if it isn't a big deal. the software, tied in with the hardware, is very important and is what makes a mac a mac.
i have never heard a hard drive that was even near completely silent. both my xbox and my HD cable box / DVR have no moving fans, but i can hear their hard drives across the living room, sometimes even with the TV on.
... and it's coming from Ted Kennedy's mansion.
turn off your pagefile / swap partition and it should last a while. otherwise, i wouldn't give it more than a year.
did you RTFA? it beat the MBP's X1600 in almost every graphics test.

you do remember correctly. actually, safari passed it long before opera did.

how is this a "new" report? this is all we hear about during hurricane season in florida on the radio.

are you effing serious? i've been struggling this whole time? *hits self on head*

can we say jager bombs?!
their best bet would be to install one of the new H.264 encoder chips in the box.
very true, i will concede that. but in that case, it might be worth it to switch to an open document format at the same time.

just playing the devils advocate.

huge magnetic field + ipod mini's internal hard drive and electronics?
doesn't sound like a good idea to me. i'll stick with throwing mine on its dock.
indonesia peat burning emits 1/7th of global CO2
i'm surprised this wasn't mentioned as well.
