Amazon.com does something similar with their website ads. I search and buy a lot at Amazon.com, and their ads on other web sites (I've noticed it at crooksandliars.com, at least) apparently read my cookies and display item suggestions that are the same or similar to items that I've searched for or purchased at Amazon.com. It doesn't matter if I've logged out of my Amazon.com account, closed and restarted my browser to clear out any active cookies, etc, the targeted advertisement results still come.
I'm not sure if it was the same bug causing my problem, but I was running Firefox 3.0 RC2 (on Windows XP sp3) and suddenly lost the ability to save logins between browser sessions. If I closed Firefox and reopened it, I would have to log back in to my homepage (MyYahoo!) and any other site that requires authentication. To fix it, I uninstalled Firefox 3.0 RC2, deleted whatever was left in the install directory, restored my Firefox profile from backup, and reinstalled the most recent Firefox.
I upgraded to Firefox 3.0 (release version) last night, but this time I uninstalled Firefox 2.x and deleted the install directory before installing FF 3.0. Firefox 3.0 managed to find and re-register the plugins that were originally stored in \plugins under the old install directory. So far, things are working ok for me.
I don't run a lot of Firefox add-ons, but the ones that I normally use are all compatible with FF 3.0: ColorfulTabs, FlashBlock, Forecastfox, FireFTP, and Card Games. with the upgrade to FF 3.0 I have also starting using a new plugin named "oldbar". Oldbar makes the address bar in FF 3.0 work more similarly to the address bar in FF 2.x. The only add-on that I have loaded that is listed as incompatible with FF 3.0 is "AVG Safe Search 8.0", and I had that disabled anyways because I didn't like it.
There is an extension named "oldbar" that will revert the address bar functionality back to something similar to Firefox 2.x. In addition to loading the "oldbar" extention, you may want to use about:config to change "browser.urlbar.matchOnlyTyped" to "true" from its default of "false".
I was trying out Firefox 3.0 RC2 on my main windows XP PC, and after a couple of days Firefox lost the ability to remember passwords between sessions. I could have probably fixed the problem by blowing away my Firefox profile and recreating it, but the whole point of upgrading to 3.0 with an existing user profile in place was to keep important things like passwords. I ended up restoring a copy of my Firefox user profile that I had made before upgrading, uninstalling Firefox 3.0 RC2, and reinstalling the most recent Firefox 2.x. That fixed my problems for now. I'll try Firefox 3 again later.
Haha, that "Aggie Cube" is pretty darn funny. When I was young I had a book of Texas A&M Aggie jokes. The jokes were probably Pollack jokes with the target changed to "Aggie", and I didn't even know anything about the team, but the jokes made me laugh.
There are three or so new sequences to learn in order to properly reorient the center squares on your Pacman cube. The page from which I learned these moves is no longer available, but this page looks like it may be of help to you: http://www.alchemistmatt.com/cube/rubikcenter.html
The exact same thought was going through my mind when I read your post. I currently use "My Yahoo!" as my homepage, and almost always use Yahoo for my web searches, but would change both of those things immediately if Microsoft acquired Yahoo. I think that I would try to switch to Ask.com, though would probably end up using Google.
I placed an order for for an XO through the "Give One, Get One" program on December 31 and haven't received mine, yet. I have received a couple of status update emails, though, so I'm not that concerned. Hopefully I'll receive it soon. In the meantime, I've loaded up the newest XO OS image file in QEMU to try things out. Kinda interesting, but I'll probably try and load an alternate OS on the XO hardware.
Oops, I misread your question and didn't provide an answer for you. According to the manual for the PCChips V21G (available for download from PCChips website):
Memory Support
> Two 240-pin DIMM sockets for DDR2 SDRAM single channel memory modules
> Supports DDR2 533/400 memory bus
> Maximum installed memory is 2 GB
I can verify that the memory is single-channel only. I can't verify that maximum memory is 2GB, as I only have 1GB sticks available and the board has two slots.
dolcraith, I own a PCChips V21G motherboard, and it is the twin of the motherboard showcased in this article. Every color, component, and label (except the product name stenciled on the motherboard) is identical. I have 2x1GB DDR-II 533MHz memory modules installed and it is working just fine. Current install dual-boot WinXP and Fedora Core 7, but I'm about to blow away FC7 and install Fedora Core 8.
This motherboard has the identical layout and specifications as the PCChips V21G (1.5GHz Via C7, CN700/VT8237R+, etc.). I've owned one for several months, but haven't used it for much. It's currently set up dual-boot with WinXP Pro and Fedora Core 7. Video playback is kinda sluggish in Windows, and I haven't really messed around with multimedia playback in the linux install.
If the update was mandatory, then it would be listed under "critical" updates instead of "optional" updates at the Microsoft Update site. It's not, because it isn't.
I was using the stock cooler that came with my AMD Opteron 165 dual core CPU until recently, and was able to run overclocked to 2.4GHz without any problems. I used it for about a year. The stock cooler wasn't loud, but I wanted silence and so replaced it with a Zalman unit.
It's been a while since I've done this, but I think that you may be able to start media playback on XBMC by utilizing the built-in web server interface (XBMC has a built-in http web server). Start the web browser on your PC and connect to the XBOX's IP address. Then, use the web interface to start playback of whatever media you want to see/hear/shag.
In the OpenOffice.org application, you could have used menu item "Tools > Customize > Menus" to arrange the commands in an order that would work for your dad.
Thanks for the reply. I had tried the software installer utility, but had forgotten that I needed to add additional package repositories. After adding a "distribution source," I have the option to add games from a fairly extensive list.
I downloaded mandriva-one-2007-gnome2.iso and it doesn't seem to have any games? What kind of distro is this? I'm not expecting something like Wolfenstein Enemy Territory, but a card game or the like would have been nice.
No lie, a local "Movie Gallery" video rental store used to have 5 or 6 of the Overfiend episodes available for rent on VHS. The tapes were on display in the children's animated section and there wasn't any minimum age requirement for rental (Movie Gallery doesn't even intentionally stock porn).
Depending on how the lime interacts with the Sun's Corona, it may create a tasty drink.
Thanks! I cleared out #SharedObjects and the targeted ads are no longer targeted.

Microsoft probably doesn't care what OS Dell installs or ships, as long as it is a Microsoft Operating System. They will still make their money.

If the source audio is recorded and processed digitally, would this negate the "warm nuance" of pressed vinyl?
