It's a versioning and indexing program right (keeping track of file changes and so forth) so is it used on itself? Kind like compiling a compiler in another?
I can't really check since the article's slashdoted.
I'm the proud owner of 2x 40GB 60GXPs, fastest things i've had, not very noisy, all around a good drive. I upgraded it's firmware (which was a pain to obtain) after it once "Click Click Click" on me. When it does that, the drive isn't recognizable by the OS and the CPU just freezes at IDE detection.
When i brang it to the CPU shop for checking (was still under warranty, now isn't so i pray), the next day they told me i was crazy and it didn't do it again since then...
Very, very weird problem. How come it hasn't failed yet?
"In the whole world, the market for 64 bit desktops is like 5-6 computers at most." - Some guy at IBM forget which, but i'm sure someone will append it here.
Seriously, anyone who says 64 bit computers aren't necessary are the same ones that tell me my 40GB HDD is huge. No, it's not. 40 MB once upon a time was huge, but now it's laughable. Haven't we learned that short sightedness brings problems? Like IDE adressing problems? How many times did we have to hack around THAT problem?
"I want to burn in the Sun (or at least the egomaniacal part of me.)"
Oh i guarantee you will burn in your wholesome completeness sir. Not just that Egomaniacal part. In fact, you won't even get there you'll burn much much sooner.
"Many continue poring through the easily available medical information even after their doctors have given them a clean bill of health."
And they should, because doctors can't differenciate a Headache from Meningitis if they caught it contagiously and then they died from it. Seriously, a 2 minute talk with a doctor and i can get out of there with about any brand of pills i actually researched a little. For example.
"Hey doc, i'm having panic attacks, do you think i should get Rivotril? My friend's friend used to have those, and she said it works well."
"Sure, here have these, take X per X hours/days"
"Thanks doc"
2 minutes. Only 2. It's come more to social charisma contests than actual diagnostics. Not to mention about doctors who dont even try anymore. You have panic disorder? Try some Morphine.
Every time i hear Symbian i cant help but think about the porn device. Fans of Kazaa will get my drift.
On topic, i think having two OSes will just take away needed ressources to put on OS 6. I think it's more Marketing than anything else. Much like Win98/98SE/ME. They're doing exactly the contrary of what MS is doing and creating one single end user/server line. I don't know if that's a good thing.
It's all about whos responsible if it fails in some way. No one can come and take you away if you're in Australia let's say and you cheat on the American vote. You can't use the Internet to vote plain and simple because there is no liability to do so.
To have a succesfull electronic means of voting, you'd have to have some kind of Intranet. Then you'd be able to make legitimate accusations against people. My work can fire me for misusing the internet but what i do at home is pretty much the hell i want to be. It's pretty easy to track the blame to me at work but think about how you'd have to track people through the globe, it's impossible.
When will slashdotting become illegal? DOS attacks pfff, that's so old school. I only need to post a link in a story that has 500 or more comments and bam that site's dead.
Isn't this a tad specific? Why not a magazine about processors period? Is that too big? Just how much content can you have being specific about Embedded Systems Programming. Seriously, I'm asking.
And if it's about Programming, why is this an article about processors? I'm so lost, and i don't think it's my fault this time. Flame away boys i'm bored.
Since the GameCube spins discs in the opposite direction or so i heard (and outside the rim towards the center to read them) as a copy protection mechanism, i really wonder how they did it.
Arial would have been plainly a better choice. Times New Roman is hard to read cause of all the curvatures in it. It also looks italic all the time. Arial, big round letters, so sexy.
I have to use PS/2 cause retarded games dont feed the USB keyb/mouse enough so i get decent frames so i like the faster 200Hz port better than the USB. Theoretically USB would be faster but not by my experience.
Radical change? What, are they going to manufacture their OS in 0.10 micron? Wait wait i'm confused.

Yes he is and he'd be right, Netscape is a slow bulky piece of crap. And it still is, go download it and check it out. It needs a tray icon to load fast. It's dead really.

Hahahahahah oh my god i haven't laughed this hard in ages, you sir are a genius. Why haven't we thought of this before? Oh right, that's we're doing right now, and nothing's being done.
Too bad for you it doesn't have an integrated spell-checker.
"sell two versions of its ubiquitous operating system"
Doesn't that make 4 OSes?
"Copyright occurs at conception"
What if i'm pro choice?
It's nice to see an editor with a backbone for a change.

No they don't most don't even read the article before coming here. And since it's down, so am I ironically.
But i like to download something that someone else legitimately owns is that a bad thing?

Bottom Line :
LCDs better for long hours work environments text processing for example, less strain on the eyes.
CRTs better for gaming/graphic workers.
Dual LCD/CRT solution for PC is one of the best for IT Professionals or enthusiasts.
LCD TVs too expensive, not sure they'll last as long as CRT. So it's a gamble.
And Plasma sucks.
Never, ever forget porn. Psssh amateurs.

Internet voting is dead even before being born.
They should have used Globalserver's Virtual private servers (VPS).

Try "copy file.zip a:" in a CMD box works very well
