This card is made for high-end ray-retracing renders, this accounts for the high price tag. For instance, most users would not buy a xeon for playing hl2, since a prescott pentium 4 would provide better gaming performance.
As for linux support, it looks like your going to have to wait till the get around to releasing decent drivers that still are a pain to work with linux.
Subject to the rather big assumption that your printer's capable of it. The effective resolution of Preview.app is far greater than that of most printers.
Most computer moniters display images at 72dpi, while printers can easily print far beyond that. Take for instance that when doing quality printing, the standard is 300dpi.
hmm I would like to know which video game it ran to get equal performance. Also, was the game software rendered or was there a graphics chipset involved?
so were paying $100 more for something that may or may not have a hard or run the other cool games that we own. Seems like a waste especially since the planned games for the xbox2 don't look all that great.
Alot of the reason why reactOS works is because of the developement in wine, which is linux based. Keep in mind ReactOs still really isn't windows because the source code is different and it doesn't bare the microsoft name.
The reason why people program software for open source is to benefit mankind and allow people to use it the way that they would like it. I wonder how you could find a more "realistic" or "useful" endevor as you say.

I like to think of this as a change to create more peripherals that interact with the screen than more of a chance to show that a tablet pc is capable of getting a decent framerate.
This means the release of things like card and board games that will work with a special peripheral.
Though, the lack of interest may be the thing that prevents this from blooming.
You can't expect a major game to come to linux, unless the game is made by Id.
Though personally I still don't think linux is ready for high end gaming anyway. Now this is mostly due to drivers and a confusing install process for newbs to people who are proficient in windows.
Now we won't start seeing more games move to linux until installation becomes easier (both for drivers and software) and linux is being used in a large portion of average American homes, which will just take time and improved interfaces.
Yes, american public schools are poor, well depending on the area. In reading, Pennsylvania, the average spending per student is about 6,500 roughly. While in areas of New York, New York, the spending goes down to about 1,600.
This is why the No child left behind idea doesn't work, many schools are starved for funds already, and money is important for needing to correct the problem.
No child left behind is a act started by Goerge Bush that basically gives the schools tests, then if the score is higher than the other schools, they get more money, if it doesn't do better, then well they school looses funding.
also if we want to talk about hardware, macs can be fairly upgradeable at a price.
xserves allow easy drive swapping; Ati still continues to make video cards for the mac; companies like sonnet will continue to make upgrade processors for macs; and several companies make ram for the mac. So upgrading shouldn't be a problem, but the problem is that the hardware upgrades will cost quite a bit more because there is less competition for upgrading macs.
US Army creates a mine detecting lobster! US Army creates strawberry grenades! US Army creates Penguin Missles! US Army creates glitter cannon, which utilizeses little stored rays of sunshine to defeat the enemies.
and all the how-to's to build these will arrive on slashdot in two weeks...
I onced used voodoo on someone. I ended up writing a program by accident. Go Figure...
This is definetely a step forward in process of being able to fully supports games like Half-Life 2 and Battlefield 1942.

I've seen a variety of these types of cases, but this is the first one that I've seen that didn't require drilling.
with enough wifi nodes, you could play a massive game of minesweeper too.
ummm, yeah, this is for people who enjoy putting together stuff themselves...
Interesting a distrobution that actually has support for a ati video card, where 3d is already setup. Heck, its worth downloading just for that.

All we need now is a bluetooth module for the gameboy and you do all your car sensoring right from the back seat.
Man, I wish my ipod's battery lasted as long as some of these laptops.
But now I can play Tux-Racer on windows!
