How about this: Will Roe vs Wade get to stand? Yes. Will more Americans have (private) health care available to them? Yes. Will we have to pay taxes on health benefits? No. Will the rights of gays, minorities, city dwellers, non-Christians, and other real Americans that the Republicans seem to exclude be better protected? Absolutely. All sounds pretty good to me...
Similarly, if you want to work with people from India, China, the Middle East, Russia - get a job at any software company in the US. No need to go abroad!
I grew up in Buffalo, and never used (or saw others use) tire chains. Then I moved to Seattle - where if you drive in the mountains, EVERYONE uses tire chains. They even have dedicated areas on the highway to pull over and put your chains on. I thought this absurd, having driven in the snow not only in Buffalo but also in Colorado, New England, and other mountainous regions without a problem - until my AWD vehicle got stuck in the snow on Mr. Ranier on August.
Someone at work told me about the plane being found - I asked "Whose?" and they said, "you know, that millionaire that flys around the world in hor air balloons" to which I replied "Oh, Richard Branson!" True story.
I attended Pittsburgh Public Schools - and I still remember getting "Scared Straight" when I got a 30% on a test one day. If it was a 50%, I might have thought that wasn't so bad and not tried as hard. Pointless.
I'm surprised by all of the anti-union sentiment here, which I guess explains why IT has no unions. What other group of workers would stand for wage cuts, unpaid overtime, reduction and benefits etc. all at the whim of management? Where I live, Nurses and Teachers are both on strike because their salary increases are not keeping up with inflation - never mind a salary CUT which is standard operating procedure in IT. Sure, that might help keep some business afloat, but at what human cost? And what is the logical extension of this - back to the days pre-labor laws of 6 or 7 day workweeks and no minimum wage? Back to the days of slavery? Now THAT was "great" for business - workers for free!
In case you haven't notice, politics and religion are now practically the same thing in the US - Evangelical Christians == Republicans. That's why major party platforms like stands on abortion, stem cells, etc. boil down to the politicians religious beliefs.
hence my use of the term "mainstream" - most computer manufacturers were contrary to Apple for each of those. And yes, Apple took their idea for the OS from Xerox PARC, etc.
Not really a good analogy - it would be pretty boring to watch any actor on any show actually working on a computer - the implicaction was that he DID use it (I think they even referenced him using the computer to work on his material at one point)
As others have pointed out, Apple wasn't always the absolute first. But they did help popularize each move, contrary to MOST existing personal computers at the time.

Has wireless - but still less space than a Nomad. Lame.
Dude, you are lucky that you (sorry, your "friend") are not currently spending time in a Turkish prison.
but what if its not released until 2012?

Everyone I work with uses it. Oh wait I forgot - I work at Microsoft.
Near Disaster? Really? In spite of popular perception, Vista has made millions for Microsoft.

So the are saying gamers don't drive as much, since they stay home playing games all the time, and therefore their insurance rates are cheaper?
Need more than just 10 minutes - looking at all the web sites for the now-defunct companies I used to to work for!

No, but they do have moving parts.
Not only that - but the first iPods were NOT solid state, they used a small hard drive - so his invention has NOTHING to do with iPods.
umm - they're not?

The same residents who left me waiting in the Emergency Room because, I was told, they were "getting their donut on"? Yeah, right.
...did I mention I work in XBox Support?
Thats because the Vegas exhibit was centered around the next gen series.

slashdot.

Except, from what I understand Apple did NOT pay him in the 90s - he had those Macs in his show because he genuinely liked the product.
