Actually, the files fill the window horizontally to the width of the window, then scroll vertically off the bottom. Doesn't matter how many 1000s of files are in that folder.
Well, apparantly it bothers a little more than some. Try over 28 million so far, not counting those who have signed up on state lists.
It's just like spam. They need to figure out that a large number of people aren't intersted in their "service".
This should be a benefit to the industry anyway. Think of they money they are losing by having to pay telemarketers to call people that are just going to harass or hang up on them anyway. By having access to a list of those people they can then concentrate their efforts on the people who are not on the list and actually don't mind getting their calls.
It's too bad people have to lose jobs over this, but it's not like this would be the first industry to have huge layoffs after some cost cutting.
And it's not as if the industry is being outlawed. People want the power to prevent marketing calls. The government has the power to make such a law. The government is petitioned to pass the law. And so it goes.
Unfortunalely, when I call home from work, it also shows up like that, so my wife can't just ignore the phone. Yeah, we could play the game where I ring once, hang up, and call again, but we shouldn't have to.
Christ, this is the tiredest argument of them all.
Do you believe it's legal to sneak into a movie theater or concert without paying? Those seats would have been empty anyway, so nobody's losing any money.
Do you steal cable? If you spend the money to buy the equipment to tap into the line and a descrambler off eBay with your own money, then Time Warner or Comcast or whoever isn't losing any money, so it's got to be okay, right?
Just because you can't afford something doesn't give you the right to take what you want. Maybe the solution is to do what I did in college and GET A JOB.
Whether you think music downloading is morally ok or not doesn't matter. Bottom line is that it is illegal. I thing levying hundred-million dollar suits is excessive, but if you get caught, you deserve what you brought upon yourself.
My current home sits on 1/3 acre. That's enough for a patio and a swingset and some space for the kids to run around. These houses are in the type of subdivision where the homes are about ten feet apart, and if you add a deck, you might have a strip of land about ten feet deep before you hit the edge of your property.
I'm not looking to grow crops, but I'd like a little bit of room to stretch out...
Actually it does cost triple. I paid about $150k for my home. The homes around my place of employment start in the "low $300s" for a little shack and go up from there. Unfortunately, people are willing to pay those prices, so they can get away with charging that.
because I *chose* to live here to be near to work (smart eh?).
I wish I had this option. Unfortunately, to live within 15 miles of where I work, I'd be paying triple for what I live in now, plus with half the land. I couldn't afford it.
Excessive perhaps, for just the room, but if their dorm is anything like mine was with a den down the hall or a study room in the basement or grassy areas out in front, a wireless connection like this would be pretty sweet.
Since most of the time I listen to my iPod either in my car or in a noisy office, whatever artifacts there are probably get drowned out by the backgound noise. While I certainly go for good quality audio for my home theater, as far as portable music is concerned, 128 is good enough and all recording at 192 will do is take up space.
Just like any sport (football, tennis, hockey) there is an element of human error. It's just one of those things that we come to accept.
I'm all for technology that helps to prevent game-changing bad calls, such as instant replay, but I think something like this is better suited for the ESPN analysts and home viewers.
Apple has stated that they will be releasing a firmware soon to update to the official spec. I would assume that other vendors would be following suit.

...is why there is no recall on older bills? What's to stop me from ignoring the new bills and just forge a 10-year-old bill without the embedded strip, etc. and stamp '1993' on it?

Riiight... I'll just be headin' out to WalMart right away...

Not really. People have coax cable running through their houses already. Using firewire instead of coax wouldn't be difficult.
Except that there is a 4.5 metre limit to the length of Firewire cable.
Then, once we're all comfortable in our Utopian lifestyles, bad things start to happen...

It is Dolby's encoder.

So what's stopping me from putting one on your car and knowing everywhere you go?
Or even worse, something like this which happened in my hometown.

This story kind of explains the speed thing. The actual throughput speed has not changed at all since 802.11g first came out.

Apparently Kobe beef isn't the best Japan's got.
That would be Mishima Beef
Considering how much damage something as small as a paint fleck can do, at high speeds, a 1.5 pound chunk of anything can be dangerous.
I hear that those jawas are the worst...
Sounds kind of like UTM coordinates...
If you're eligible, the Education Store has them for only $1499!
