  1. FreeBSD? on 18 Live Linux CDs -- In A Row · · Score: 2, Insightful

Since when is FreeBSD a Linux distro?

The unfortunate thing is... By based on, do they mean a modified version of libtorrent which they provide the source code for (but JUST for libtorrent - not the rest)? Or a plain version that they write more code to "wrap around" libtorrent, giving it the trackerless functionality? Or do they mean they simply stole GPL code, rewrote it, didn't provide any sort of source, and should be crushed into oblivion for doing something so wrong?

Note well: I abandoned EFNet, Undernet and DALnet a long time ago, when they became almost unusable. There are little networks around now where the *real* IRC lives. You probably don't know them, and that's OK...they'd rather be left alone, far from the crapflooders and the warez kiddies and the skript kiddies and the rest of the miscellaneous lamers who make the big nets a living hell. They'd rather be hanging out in cyberspace together in their little cybernetic communities.

Very true. I run a server on a very small IRC network, around 50-70 regulars. Mainly a small group of anime fans, along with some computer geeks. It's relaxed, and a nice, friendly group of people, bar an occasional idiotic n00b, who gets put in his place VERY quickly.

I'm not going to say the address here, for the reasons you stated. If anyone really feels like visiting, drop me an e-mail, and I might give it to you, if you seem like a nice person. ;-)

The hard drive is the main difference.

The ROM in it (16) is about halfed from the ~32 in other models. But remember, this ROM is JUST for the ROM image, the base OS. Other models have internal flash memory (anywhere from 32-64, if I remember correctly) for user storage. The C3000 DOES NOT HAVE THIS. The hard drive is IN PLACE of that flash.

And the SL-6000 has USB host, so the C3000 is not the first Zaurus to have it.

No, this does not mean that you can steal music and movies legally.

Unless you're outside the States. Then it varies. And it's been that way for a fair while.

Take Canada. We can share music legally, as long as it's for personal use only. Movies isn't so clear cut, but with music setting that precedent, I don't think it would be classified illegal.

  21. Re:Rick Berman and Star Trek on 'Star Trek: Enterprise' Cancelled? · · Score: 1

The new writers seem to despise the "Temporal war".

I'm glad for that... A "Temporal Cold War" as they called it, is, theoretically, impossible. With time travel, a war would probably be solved in a short period of time (seriously, it's time travel, how drawn out can it get?) and even removed from the timeline...

Time travel has always been a little over-used in Star Trek, but season 1/2 Enterprise pushed it WAY over.

Season 3 was ok, but too long a story arc for my liking, and they solved it rather abruptly at the end... So far season 4 is good. Nothing too far outside the realms of believability, in relation to the rest of Star Trek.

And, while having the Borg in Enterprise was pushing it, they did explain it fairly satisfactorily, if I remember correctly. The Borg were frozen, leftovers from the Sphere in First Contact, or at least that was implied. It also implied, again IIRC, that the Borg sent a signal of some sort, drawing the Borg to Federation space. That does at least sort of fit into TNG's first Borg encounter, as that cube was already heading towards Earth, when Q sent the Enterprise-D there... Again, IIRC...

Back on the main topic though... Yes, the new writers are much higher quality.
