I'm pretty sure NASA is "moving", if only they had the funding, cause I think ideas and desires to go where no man has gone before is not what NASA lacks. The congress, and the public, and everyone who thinks spending dollars on stuff that kill others is well-spent money, aren't moving anywhere.
I'm a european (although not sure whether I'm from new or old Europe), and I can say as much that I do not hate americans. Some people do, but I think that's stupid. I can say that I strongly dislike your current leader, but that doesn't mean I hate you all or your entire nation. I believe that most americans do not hate Europe, either. There are differences between EU and USA, but we don't have to let those differences cause unnecessary conflicts, fuelled by misconceptions and propaganda and catchy slogans. Let me in return wish YOU good luck with your Mars rovers, btw! I hear Japan is on their way as well. Going to be exciting.
You're right of course! I guess it's an assumption I make, that what we observe is the reality. And, in at least one way it is, if not the whole reality, so part of it. What we see around us could very well be the real world, or it could be a simulation. In either case it's part of reality, the difference is how big a part of the reality it is, right? And what if the simulation isn't the whole reality either? Maybe someone is simulating they who simulate us, etc.
- you consider the world to be composed of things with surfaces and textures, yet in fact most of everything is interatomic space. Matter is a simulation.
A simulation of what, exactly? Who or what is simulating what? Sure, it's an illusion that there is physical contact anywhere, when it's nowhere. But why would it be a simulation?
---
- you consider yourself to be a being, complete and individual, yet you are built from trillions of cells each with a lifecycle, not to mention hosts of other organisms that cohabit your body, even your gene pool. Individuality is a simulation.
Again, it's more of an illusion in that case. Also I would suspect it depends on how you define individuality.
---
- you think you are reading this text, and yet it is just a sprinkling of letters and dots and random ideas. Language is a simulation, the Internet also.
I am reading the text. But at the same time, I understand that it's a pattern of energy (computer screeen and the photons it sends out) interacting with the pattern of energy that is my brain. This creates new patterns (abstract thinking, imagining, inspiration, new ideas, etc.) in my brain. At least, that's my current idea of things everywhere.
---
- you believe you exist, and yet we are truly just temporary assemblages of matter acting as hosts for the multilevel game of life. Existence is a simulation.
Existence is very real. The matter and energy (basically the same thing) exists. The patterns in which some of it is organized exists also.
I would like to say, that since we are inseparable parts of the universe, in that we are phenomena just like stars and planets and nebulae and everything, that the universe is now both aware and intelligent, to an extent. Universe and its laws of nature made it possible for such structures as us to come about, and here we are, observing and thinking. And we're made up of the same stuff as everything else is, just in a different way. Amazing. The universe is like Lego. Put together the pieces like this; you get a giant star. Put them together like that; you get a snowflake. Or DNA. Or a brain.
The Bible was written by many people throughout hundreds of years. These people were not perfect, they were not divine, they were people. Sometimes, they were people who saw talking burning bushes and angels and whatnot. Where is god today? Where are the angels? If someone would claim he is talking to god, not many people would believe him. They would, however, be ready to believe a really old book about people talking to god.
The problem is that religious people don't seem to know why they are religious and why that specific religion. Why islam? Why christianity? In most cases, I would suppose, it has to do with their upbringing. They were told certain "truths" and eventually it becomes the Truth. Why do they believe the creation myth? What makes THAT story so much more likely than any other creation myths, for example? After all, none of them were based on any observations.
My idea, which may be wrong since I'm not a physicist, is that the big transporters would be set on the 8-shaped trajectory only once. It could use the gravity of the moon or earth like a slingshot to accelerate, in addition to that it would need fuel to adjust its trajectory. Could this work in any way? Would it be economical?
Yeah the "trains" would have to adjust its speed and trajectory when they know how much the total mass will change, probably before it goes around the moon. But I wonder if the whole arrangement still wouldn't be cheaper after all?
And to cut the costs for transporting to and from the moon, we could use a system with three or four huge spaceships that would never land, but rather travel in a similar trajectory as the Apollo ships did. Then, when you want to send something from Earth to the moon, just launch it to dock with the spaceship. Kinda like having trains where you throw the stuff onto it without the train ever stopping. Then when it arrives at the moon, just undock the module then land it on the moon. This way you could transport passenger modules and freight modules and raw materials or whatever... You would only have to launch it into orbit once and then let it piggy back to or from the moon. Just an idea I had, maybe it could work?
Windows on Mars? Hope they will get the units in order this time! LOL! Not that it matters, cause it will crash anyway! Hahahaha! And then it will be a BLUE planet! Get it? Not a red planet, but BLUE, because of BLUE screen of death! Oh god, I can't believe how funny and original I am. Probably because I'm NOT.
One thing that I love about this whole thing is that the missions seem to complement each other. Interesting is also that they will be able to use each others orbiting crafts as relay stations.
"to secure cyberspace". How about that? I am sure the government will do an excellent job as it have been doing with everything else it lays its hands on.

I've known this for years, how on earth is this new in any way?
5 meters would probably be "tall martian alien height".
We're racist? Against what race exactly?
Yes, for example such as the discovery of America :-)
Joke aside, I think that competition as well as cooperation is good. And here, I kinda see both.

Haha, didn't see it like that though :)

My life is probably a perl script or a piece of lisp code, which explains a thing or two...

You can't patent information. Especially not since it's been around everywhere all the time. You can't even copyright it.

Those videoclips only makes the person looking at them unstable.

Well you are right of course, and I didn't think things through completely, it seems. Heh.

In boxes under my bed. In my desk drawers. On my desk. On my computer. In the bookshelf. Etc. etc...

You should try it!
It's clearly a hoax! I can't believe how NASA always forgets to add some pretty stars to their faked images from space.
