Actually, I specifically avoided mentioning it because I rather liked it. Yeah, it's another role that is rather silly (c'mon, let's face it), and noone's heard of it, so it fits in well with the example. But, oh well.
Actually, the FIRST attempt was by an act of the FCC, which was smacked down by the courts. The LAST attempt was indeed by law, in a piece of appropriation legislation, according to TFA. It too was smacked down. The LATEST attempt is also by law, in a budget reconciliation bill.
Thanks for the info - for some reason I when reading the article I couldn't get an image of the DC Sandman out of my head. No, not the Neil Gaiman creation, the other one, with the sand gun thing.
This just goes to confirm what I've been suspecting for some time: apparently I'm the only one on this planet that actually liked the Hulk movie. Sometimes it seems like everyone else expected it to be like the TV show, or perhaps the Saturday morning cartoons...
It's when they start putting multiple big names in villain roles that these superhero franchises usually start to go straight to hell.
I like to think that's why they cast the likes of Thomas Hayden Church and Topher Grace in these roles. Though both are well-recognized, neither really has the amount of star power where they could do any real damage. I mean, have you seen the typse of roles Thomas Hayden Church has taken lately? George of the Jungle 2? Rolling Kansas? And Topher Grace is still most recognized as the guy from That 70's Show.
Not that I fully agree with the casting, but I do think they are pulling from the right echelon of actors - underappreciated veterans for whom a role like this can be a huge step for. I certainly wouldn't cast anyone along the likes of Schwarzeneger (too lazy to look up the spelling) or Jim Carey or Tommy Lee Jones.
Now, let's see someone use 2 of these devices to film a 360 degree film in 3D. Or would you need 3rd camera, to fill in those spaces where one camera blocks the other? And how would you begin to display the result?
While it seems a lot of advanced users on Slashdot seem to love being derived of features by our Google overlords
While my features may not be much to look at under normal conditions, once you take the 1st derivation of my features, I start to become quite the looker. Around the 3rd or 4th derivation, well, all I can say is "move over Brad Pitt!"
The only thing is, since I started trying to integrate myself back to my original look, I keep getting one that's real close, but something's just not fundamentally exactly right about it...
Many Democrat Slashdotters are just hoping for a different version of "selected not elected" for the '04 election.
Oh, I've worked my share of support jobs. I'm fully prepared to believe that majorities can make stupid decisions.
For the record, I'm not a Democrat, nor am I referring (solely) to the last US Presidential election. My cynicism has reached such levels that it cannot be contained to any one political party...
Actually, part of this is already accessible - under advanced settings, you can set it to "Warn when closing multiple tabs". Just having this box checked has helped me make the minute adjustment, and has provided all of the retraining I've needed. I will hit the wrong red x now maybe once a month, and given the amount I use the web, this is rather negligible.
Still, the other options would be nice. They're just not all that important to me.
For an organization of the small-to-medium size, I rather like Trend Micro's SMB options. It's really nice being able to administrate all of the individual AV applications from one console. It provides active scanning, and isn't a huge, bloated app that acts like the purpose of the machine it is installed on is to run the antivirus program. I've had it run quite well on many older machines without a noticable performance hit.
Now, the drawbacks: You'll probably have to find a vendor, it won't be free (though from my own experience, the cost isn't real prohibitive either), and to fully capitalize on it you'll need to have a machine run as the AV server. Good news is that server can be an old machine, or a shared server, as it doesn't use a lot of resource.
I've been very happy with this, but of course you'll need to further evaluate it for your own needs.

I've been playing GW for a long time now, and if I may, I would like to add a few things. First off, about not having anything to do once you reach level 20: This (usually) is not at all true. Most people reach level 20 well before they reach the end of the game, and for some before they are even half way through. Also, after you've beaten the "final" mission of the story, there are still more missions off the beaten path, as well as a couple of areas specifically designed for the highest level of players to challenge just about anyone. And of course then there is the PvP aspect, which is like another half of the game...
Some have complained that there isn't enough content for those who enjoy PvE, that the game isn't long enough. Now, someone who is really intent on it, and buzzes through as fast as they can (and in the process skipping a large portion of the content) can beat the game in a week or less, but if you're an average player, there's all sorts of content in it.
Yes, there is a major content update coming up, to be released on Sept 7th, which is the middle of next week, that will open up 2 new regions. These, too, will be aimed for higher level characters. Nice thing is, late in game development they had come up with some new tools for game design, but didn't have much of a chance to use them before release date. These new areas where made with these tools, and apparently a lot of the developers are really happy with the results. It looks like we get a sneak peak at where the game is heading for future expansions as well...
Holding down the mouse button on an opponent tells your main character to go to town.
No no no no no.... clicking the mouse button on an opponent should tell your character to kick the opponent's ass. If I want to go to town, then I'll click on the town...
He did... his whole deal was that some webcomic authors that wanted to make a serious living off of their work were using the web basically as a means to garner the attention that could get them picked up by newspapers in syndication. Thing is, most papers get the majority of their comics in large groups from a small handful of syndication groups. Kurtz's argument was that this business model was past it's prime, and that real money could be made from their own websites. Instead of using the web to promote a print comic, they should use the print versions in newspapers to promote their web version of the comic. So, he was offering his comic archives to any paper who wanted to run them. A handful have taken him up on it. My own local paper has as well, or so I hear, though they apparently run it sporadically, and not in the comics section, but rather in the middle of another.
Now, Blank Label Comics was started by a group of artists who had pre-existing webcomics via an existing webcomic publishing group (I think it was Keenspot, or maybe Keenspace, or something like that.. hell if I can remember). Anyways, they felt that setup wasn't meeting their needs, or were otherwise unhappy with the arrangement, and struck out on their own. From what I can tell, Blank Label isn't a publishing group really, but rather just a coop like group of artists helping each other out. One of the nice things about having a publisher is they take care of the hardware, the woftware, the promotion, the advertising, the product sales, etc. Now that they are taking care of this all by themselves, it's more work of course, but they also have to learn how to do it. They are just sharing their expertise in areas, helping promote each other, etc. They have already attracted more members (I know Greg Dean of RealLifeComics wasn't an original member, but instead has been independent for some time, and I believe has really been helping the others by sharing his experiences), and seem to be off to a good start. I wish them the best of luck.
Just a nit-pick here, but an important one - Scott Kurtz actually has next to nothing to do with Blank Label Comics, but rather he just gave them a few plugs on his website upon their creation.
There are definitely some good comics there - go check them out, see if there's anything you like there.
You know, if they were really shrewd about this, I could see Pabst, who are the current owners of the Olympia brand of beer, really taking advantage of this situation...
(But given the way he's worded things, I don't think he's planning on doing it with experts).
That's ok. Since he's a Slashdot user, he's already an expert. At least, that's what I gather by the posts here, where everyone seems to be an expert on every possible subject... Why, I can feel my level of expertise increasing right now, just by making snide remarks!

Still, that's not as much of a change as the actors playing Harvey Dent from the 1989 Batman to the later Batman Forever.
