I personally have no question that they regret that decision, and we'll see what happens with IE7 this summer.
I suspect you are right about this, Microsoft is certainly tired of IE issues flogging them. This is why I suspect that IE7 will give Firefox a run for it's money of even possibly kill it. MS knows all eyes will be on IE7, and has probibly done a lot of work from the ground up on it with security spacifically in mind. I think all the FF fanboys my be dissapointed when IE7 comes out.
On the other hand, we are talking about Microsoft, so who knows...
I've got to find out about any problems, before my customers/suppliers do; no matter where I am, especially when I'm: camping in Eastern-Washington; back-country skiing in Whistler; or driving down to Oregon for Mother's Day.
I know of a good sat pager solution, but it only works while kicking back with some babes in a cigarette boat off Miami. Funny thing.
It uses your existing AOL or AIM screen name @aim.com - so no conflict with @aol.com
Yes, of course. BUT, for NEW users, the issue will be the same as with AIM/AOL screen names: Not a lot of human readable ones left, and seems like AOL does not like to free up inactive ones.
The only reason I used to maintain an AOL account was because when I was in (just about any) tiny little shit hole in some foreign country half way around the world, I could get a dial-up connection. Many people subscribe for this spacific reason.
Well, my employer must have an effective virus filter, than. Been a long time since the LAN Shop guys made any noise to us "users" about such issues. Dunno...
On the surface, it looks to me like the Mozilla boys want to bring down Bill and Microsoft so bad, that they are perfectly willing to dance with The Devil themselves. Reminds me of an old Twilight Zone episode...
Odd. Very odd. I never have these problems at work (100% Microsoft Products), and at home only when I visit porn sites in IE. Visit a lot of porn, do you? Really and honestly, it's not at all difficult to eliminate most spam and avoid most malicious code. It's sort of like sex: If you have unprotected computer, you may pick up a virus.
An interesting thing about Groklaw is that if you post comments that PJ does not like you will get banned without even knowing it. You will see the comments, but no one else. Kind of a slimy thing to do, really. Sort of a LACK of jurnalistic integrety maybe???
So a magazine chooses not to publish an article, the author than pays to publish it in the same magazine, and a few people tell him it's interesting. Maybe I just don't get it, because to me there is no story here. Or at least not much of a story.
All my company gives out is yes he/she worked here for such a length of time and wether or not the person is recommened for rehire. Nothing more. nothing less
Yes, but it's that last part: and wether or not the person is recommened for rehire. Withholding a recomendation for rehire is equiv to The Kiss of Death.
You know, strictly speaking, it is his responsibility to find a replacement for your position, not yours. You should remind him of this in no uncertain terms.
There's no "stricly speaking" about it. You have no responsibility on this point.
If everyone knows your current boss is a nut case, just try to live with it until you leave. If you can't stand it, just walk out. You already have a follow-on job, and you don't need this guy, if he's going to bad mouth you anyway, cut your loss and don't show up tomorrow.
Oh yeah. Every few years I spend 5 or 6 weeks in Biloxi. The first time I flew down there scared the shit out of me, I took a taxi just about everywhere, and the drivers where straight out of Deliverance. All the same, after a few trips, I grew to like the people and find that they are much more friendly and honest than here is Seattle.
I too get very little spam. My personal email server uses Clam Anti Virus & SpamAssassin, and though I understand that not everyone has their own mail server, I get almost none at my gmail account as well. And, I haven't had an infection on my Windows internet surfing box in several years, even without a firewall.
Well, you know, this is Slashdot. Leave your original opinion at the door, and follow the line of sheep into the group-think machine. Let us be thankful we have Slashdot. Slashdot more. Slashdot more now. Slashdot. And be happy.
wasn't it last week that we declared the spam capitol of thw world was china or was it that one eastern european country?
Spam is the direct result of the freedoms and capitalism that our great democratic republic is a great nation for. If you don't like it, than move to China...
First of all, someone needs to call these companies and scream at them until they stop using PDF. If they never intended to print it, there's no point to PDF for a manual. HTML is just fine, and most browsers (including Mozilla) are more lightweight than the official Acrobat Reader.
Perhaps they never intend on printing it, but they know many end users will want to, and honestly, HTML is not "just fine" to many people (like me) who appreciate the formatting of the PDF documentation, not the least of which is not having tables and images cut in two (and many other formatting issues)...
Second, if you need to read any sort of electronic document, why not read it electronically?
Because for many people, searching and cross referencing data are much more efficiant with hard copy. Many people like having a manual open next to them when they work, and do not like having to flip back and forth to some electronic document.
Actually, Ballmer has his had FIRMLY gripping McNealy's nut sack. I smell a buyout soon...

Anyway, GoZilla is hooked up to a DSL conx (netcraft says): dsl254-055-066.sea1.dsl.speakeasy.net
Microsoft is bemonaning the lack of H1B talent, not talent per se.
I know of a good sat pager solution, but it only works while kicking back with some babes in a cigarette boat off Miami. Funny thing.
Oh YEAH! O'Gara hit a home run on this one! The Zealots are all foaming at the mouth, spitting all over everything, just amazing...

Are there even any reasonable email names left @aol.com? Will all the new free accounts use random strings for the UID?

No, actually it's because the majority of women don't realize that most geeks have big cocks and are love doctors in bed. Word.

I dont get this. EVERYONE (well, most) have p4s an athalons. What am I supposed to run this thing on?????

Naaa! Actually, it's just so fun to poke at the zealots.
He said he'd been there 6 or 7 YEARS. I think he needs it on the resume.
There's no "stricly speaking" about it. You have no responsibility on this point.

But honestly, it is an ugly design.
