    I know I am probably the exception amongst most of you. We don't have an ATM card, we go down to the corner bank to get money out the old fashioned way. Everyone at the branch knows the wife and I and no one else could get money out without generating a lot of questions. There's a lot to be said for the good old days.

    Surely you aren't suggesting that there were some other "understandings" the MS and Novell came to during their recent business agreement that weren't announced, are you? That would almost be suggesting that the two companies aren't being completely above board in their business dealing...

    I guess I still think of hacking as the old definition that was not nefarious, rather than a cracker or cybercriminal. Now the mere suggestion that a hacker is not a criminal gets you labeled as a troll. Curious how far the PC police have taken over the Slashdot board.

    That's why you should have an ISP that filters, then have filters on your box. Some of it still gets through but it is manageable.

    I saw the answer that they make sure it is faster not slower, but so far 2.0 feels slower than 1.5 did. I also had one crash so far when it tried to load a plugin.

    Even accepting that you are correct that they are talking about crackers, I have the feeling that most of the script kiddies will not make the list. I assume they are talking about the real deal type guys that make their own cracks and then the other guys try to imitate them. Many of whom may even fall under our common definition of hacker. Those people that will discover a neat hack and then inform the other party of the problem. If not, if it is the script kiddies, it will be a very long and meaningless list.

    Your mixing them up some. When our kids were babies, we were told to lay them on their stomach so that they wouldn't aspirate their own vomit if they spit up during their sleep. Then suddenly they decided that doing that caused SIDS. It would be nice if they actually came up with a cause rather than just pulling theories out of their ass.

    You must be kidding. When did you ever see a car in the landfill. They go to junkyards, which after salvaging what they can in parts, they are smashed and then taken to be recycled. Not sure about appliances, but every time I have had a new one delivered, they have taken the old one away with them. As much as most metal prices are now, if you throw something that has much metal in it away someone is likely to take it out of your trash and to the scrap yard.
