Since Taiwan is currently pushing 50% of their GDP in relations with China [aka, "half their economy" (in quotes since it is a bit simplistic)] , I wouldn't be surprised if sometime in the future we see something similar to how they are bringing in Hong Kong. Obviously there would be other issues to deal than those found in the HK deal (for example, China can't exactly say, "Sorry, deals up, time for us to get this land back...") but if Taiwan keeps developing a strong trade partnership, I would think something could develop.
Doom 3 - I want proof of the game actually being engaging rather than just being a display of a nice engine.
HL 2 - Way they are going, it'll be out for Christmas of next year:D. Oh well, HL 2 will be a more tempting when the mods start coming out for it. Sure, the game will probably be nice but the original hasn't lasted this long on the shelves because of the story and game itself.
GT4 - Sorry, looking forward to Rallisport 2 myself. Comes out sooner, looks great, and will have online capabilities (not that GT4 won't if I remember correctly...just Rallisport will rock online w00t:D). You PS2 people can wait for a long time all you like...I'd rather game now.:)
PC upgrade - Don't I wish:/. What kind of graphics card are you replacing this holiday? Mind if I take it?;)
Xbox & GC owners will buy a PS2 - Not likely. I own both and can barely split my time efficiently b/w them and my PC. PS2 offers me nothing but a chance to waste my money.:p
Surprised no one has mentioned this. While it isn't really a campaign simulation by the strict idea of what campaigning is, it does simulate a particular method of gaining power. Perhaps it isn't totally to the point that this news story is looking for but it is an option in my opinion.
Let me fix what you said: They had to face the orcs and elves in the proper direction.
They didn't run away on purpose...they ran away because they were programmed to seek out an enemy yet they didn't see any close by. Without one close by, they ran straight forward to search for one. Unfortunately, at the time, they were facing away from the battlefield.
Roger that. I purposefully have put both AOE2 and The Conquerors in vorbis format just so I can listen on occasion when not playing the game. Great stuff.
I doubt lots of people would stop using them. After all, most people who own them probably don't even get to drive the speed limit due to rush hour traffic slowing them down.
You can calculate average speed based on the distance between two tollbooths and the time it takes someone with a tollpass to go through them...yet I know they don't in some cities. Why not is what I wonder? (and this doesn't need GPS...)
Well, I believe the parent was talking about Sony, BUT...
All Nintendo related products in the states are dictated by Nintendo of America. NOA is pretty much its own company and can make its own decision...obviously, since it is more sensible, it typically takes lots of advice from the Japanese company though.
When it comes to updates, the worst of them is stuff like the PS2's DVD playing which has had several updates over time...but to get them, most often the best option is to buy a new version of it.
I almost have to wonder how many of them are people buying a new one to replace one that broke from too much play. After all, seriously, it is hard to imagine so many new people getting into the console market every year O_O
GC - 500k over a weekend (I'll assume they mean Friday through Sunday but maybe they only meant Fri and Sat? I dunno...)
PS2 - 1000k over a month (um, right, so now we are comparing 30 days to 2 or 3...)
Xbox - Some unknown number over the period of Thanksgiving week (the amount of days is just as vague as the totals)
There is very little to work with here other than knowing that the GC had a positive couple of days to make up for some lousy months:/.
Maybe it is just me, but Star Wars is expanding itself in anything and everything it can get its hands on. Now, I'm not trying to imply it can't work in role playing (c'mon, KOTOR would prove me wrong even though that is video games and not tabletop), but seriously...it is getting to be too much. In my opinion, they are stretching out SW too much and practically just making it an item to be sold rather than a story to be enjoyed.
Explain the incredible success of DOA: Xtreme Beach Volleyball.
Hormonal Teenage Boys.
BTW, that answer would be valid in America. In Japan, where anime, manga, hentai, etc. all commonly portray series of cartoonish, fighting, extremely disproportionate (you know what I mean) women, a game like that sells to more than just teenage boys. Hopefully you'd realize what kind of marketing base they are working with over there...Xtreme Beach Volleyball is like candy to a huge population of anime-like fans over there.
UT2K3 is easily the best example of user whining that got way too much attention.
I'm not talking about the graphics, which hardcore Unreal and UT fans looked at and said, "Hey, it's Quake!"
No, I'm talking about the weapons. Granted, every one complained in UT about the flak cannon being overpowered, the shock combo being too powerful, the sniper rifle being to easy to camp with, and more. I don't see a problem with listening to that when considering how to tweak them for a new game.
The problem is that the developers paid way too much attention to their forums while making it; gamers were giving them tons of suggestions by the post-load on how to improve it...despite the fact that they hadn't ever even SEEN the game. Because of these suggestions, the game ended up more developed towards a small group (one that apparently was arrogant enough to think the shock combo wasn't strong enough) and when the ancient Unreal gamers touched it, they dropped the game like it was on fire.
To this day I still think UT2K3 is the downfall of Epic. Yeah, their game engine still looks nice enough...but combine the foolishness of UT2K3 with the utter failure of Unreal 2, and you'll see that many a dedicated Unreal/UT player don't really care about the Unreal series anymore. All because the developers cared too much to kiss the ass of a few fans who thought whining enough could get them the features they wanted.
Here's one for you. Explain the incredible success of DOA: Xtreme Beach Volleyball.
That should keep you busy for a few minutes as you once again reply with something that yet again misinterprets a point...
There are several answers to that, but I'll give you one that perhaps you don't know about.
A while back MS fired a bunch of Japanese employees by escorting them one-by-one into an office, telling them they were fired, and having armed security make sure they got out quickly. This kind of action is not taken well in Japan, where employers often enough try to do as much as possible to assist those they have to let go in respect.
That kind of action gives MS a bad name in Japan. So besides Nintendo and Sony being more popular brands, you have the fact that MS shot itself in the foot too.

Well this was certainly a bit of a silly post...
Yeah, but they get to celebrate with a nice steak due to that paycheck. You are stuck at home with a can of soup and leftovers ;).
Dunno where you learned about testing code, but you missed out on something.
A good test of some piece of code is to find bugs. If you don't find any, you did a poor job of it.

You just have to look down a bit for your HUD...in which case, don't you consider that just as unsafe since your focus isn't on the road?

The thing looks like a combo between a Dreamcast controller and a Xbox controller...not too bad I'd say.
When it comes to updates, the worst of them is stuff like the PS2's DVD playing which has had several updates over time...but to get them, most often the best option is to buy a new version of it.
Ah, well, thank you educating me. :)

The comparisons are a joke.

True...I wasn't trying to tie in Unreal 2's development with UT2K3's dev. Sorry if that was not clear.
Did I ever imply it was the biggest factor? NO.
I said that I was presenting a reason that he/she perhaps hadn't heard about and perhaps never considered.
Go back and read man...might help ya out.

I'd take a safe guess at the moment and say that they'd have a hard time cramming it into 3 hours...
