The AdBlocker.css file works like a charm. Check out the "Opera config files". When coupled with the autoproxy option in eDexter, and a nice hosts file, you get an excellent AdBlock replacement.
We here in Nigeria are learning from you guys and we have established the first Nigerian Civil Rights Organization dedicated to defend our birth right to scam people. We are currently gathering funds and we need your help. In return, we will name a chapter of our organization after you. Please send us any amount of money you have; $5000 is a good start.
And God Bless You.

P.S. You may be puzzled by the lack of obvious spelling mistakes in this email, well fear not since an English teacher has just joined our ranks.
As long as many reporters/journalists abuse their profession, I will hold back on any info which can help them violate the codes and ethics of their profession. I am surprised that many people still get away with that; under the current administration, anything is still possible.
Nature also has Asymetry every where. I actually think that asymetry is the rule, look at any pair of bOObs near you, they are symetrical only for the unexperienced eye.
I view these developments as steps on the road of Mozilla 2.0
It makes sense that a new major version of the open source browser includes innovations just like what Netscape did for their Navigator.
I had a similar incident where I had to give a presentation.
- I used "Impress Photo Album Creator" OOo macro to import a bunch of images and then save the presentation in a power point format.
- Worked on the presentation with Office XP (better templates and themes).
- I always remove the unique ID and trace features in Office XP Options before I save it.
- The conference room PC had MS Office 2003.
When I went to present the thing, I kept receiving an error. I tried the back up copy on my USB drive and in my email with the same results. So While the "people" were waiting, I had to run to another PC, use OOo to save the presentation as a PDF file (and a SWF file as an additional backup), and then come back to make the presentation as a PDF file. The presentation went well, but I think that MS had included some blacklisting features which gives these errors. I know some people who had the same problem except in a large conference room where they had to present with out any projections! At first I thought that it was the fault of the presenter, or using Adaptec while burniing the CD, but when this happened to me, I knew that it is some nut engineer @ MS who wants us to use only MS products.
I learned my lesson. I was able to give my presentation in time, but from now on, I will install OOo at every PC I use.
Just a suggestion for some people who have ~ 100MB presentations, One can also use Power Point Viewer since it loads every slide as you are presenting.
You have to remember that in some countries, it is illegal to use encryption software. Unless the message is worth the risk, you may very well get caught red-handed. It is always a risk/benefit ratio.
Is it "legal" for non-US citizens to use high grade encryption software inside the US?
I always block acrobat from internet and prevent/disable it from integrating into any browser. All the PDF files are viewed in an offline mode (as far as acrobat reader is concerned). To me the default settings of acrobat are not much different from spyware.
By the time these features are implimented, alternative standardized formats will be available (e.g XML or open document format). Most people will not be willing to trade privacy for viewing PDF files. The problem will be, however, in the private companies and the publishers who will "oblige" people to read their files in a PDF format (manuals, scientific articles, books, etc...) just like many online companies used to (and still) block non-IE users.
Any one knows how adequate are alternative formats in replacing PDF?
Managing major companies as M$ is not much different from running a country. Politics, business and money are intimately mixed in most situations. Look at the current president!
...they would simply have pulled the plug and thrown away the results
No, any company and defenitely MS would not throw away the results. They would check the cost/benefit for improving their product (versus just keeping as it is) and after that, they will decide whether they will
1) Halt funding and hide the data (so others can't use it against them)
2) Halt funding and publish the data (while improving their products)
3) Keep the funding...
MS has a huge budget for research including security related stuff. Stuff like this are expected.

I am aware that the testing releases have some type of support for bluetooth. I am using D-Link Bluetooth DBT-120 on my WIndows to Sync to my Palm for the last ~2 years. It was not easy to make it work on the Debian side. Although I consider it the fault of D-Link for not providing "open specs" or a Linux driver for their product, as a user, and at the time I bought it, it did not work. I have been having trouble finding which hardware is expected to work seamlessly with Linux.
I use PDF as a backup. Whenever I am using a PC at some conference (i.e. one which I do not have previous access to), I keep PDF and Flash copies just in case the PPT did not work. PDF and Flash copies will not show any effects (animations, transitions, embedded Java or media, etc...)
1) Ability to transform the animations in the presentation into Flash animations when the presentation is exported to Flash format. That would be Smashing!
2) A "Pack And Go" option as in "Powerpoint" and "WordPerfect Suite".
As long as sysadmins do not limit browsers to FF/Opera or at least to a non-IE browser, not many people will switch.
For ~ a year I have been providing friends and family members with advice on using FF and even customized versions with improved default features only to notice that no one is using it yet. Only after my sister had to use my desktop for couple of weaks did she start liking FF (since IE is disabled).
The Mozilla Foundation should offer more customizable versions similar to IE so that ISP's and sysadmins (companies) can offer FF more easily.
Opera still refuses to include this in their browser. Their answer is that they do not want to give a wrong messege to adv websites. I have no idea why they refuse to go with the option of "hiding ads" as in the Mozilla extension "adblock". This way the webmasters are happy (their ads being downloaded) as well as Opera users (the ads are hidden in their pages).
The only way to block ads is via a third party application which blocks servers/ads via filters, but the space taken up by the ads still blank. In Firefox, the space is removed.
a whole new host of PRIONS for us to endure.

They are actually five (5). The fifth one is just behind you.

Is this news?
When it comes to Human Rights, countries like Syria and Iran are worse than China. From what I hear, the worst by far is Syria.

Now all the Linux users can enjoy the annoying aspects of up to date Adobe products.

Does that mean that Linux now supports Bluetooth?
O, wait, they did not say Debian
