The very fact that Bush specifically mentioned how important it was to kill/capture Osama and then outsourced the job
At the time when this was done, Kerry agreed with Bush that this was the way to go. Kerry said that it was a good idea because it would keep down the number of American casualties.
Now Kerry says Bush was "outsourcing", which is bad, and that he, Kerry, has not changed his position. What a classy guy.
Lay low on the mathematics, and go heavy on the computer graphics.
So then what's the point of having such shows? Without the grounding in mathematics, science turns into a fairy tale. Astrology tells its story, science tells its story, and people pick and choose between them. What people need to learn is that science actually affords us real knowledge. There's no way to do that while ignoring the math.
That's such horseshit. It's just a pack of lies that capitalists tell themselves to ignore the fact that they are committing crimes in order to make a profit. You present yourself as a realist, but a better word for your "realistic" approach is "evil". How can you look in the mirror? No doubt it's a nice, expensive mirror, but how can you dare to look in it?
I was an Emusic subscriber, but they kept jerking around the users. They continually changed the terms of the service. And their support for Linux was pathetic/nonexistent. What confidence can you have that the service you subscribe to is the service you'll eventually get? They've changed horses in midstream several times in the past; why should I think they aren't going to jerk me around again? Has there been a change of management? That's the only thing that would make me think about going back.
The post you linked to was a troll. I think the problem politics.slashdot.org is running into is that it is difficult to talk politics without starting to troll.
The INDUCE act is typical of what happens when a bunch of idiots think that they can legislate against social change. They tried it with prohibition and with segregation. Look how well those worked. The result of this law, if passed? Nothing.
So why bother voting against its sponsors, so long as I agree with them about other matters in which government's actions have a huge effect? If I followed your advice, I'd get loony, harmful laws I disagree with, instead of loony, harmless laws I disagree with. Staying with politicians I agree with on matters where they can hurt me seems like the way to go.
This was actually a pretty good movie, but it was more serious than people who saw it expected it to be. Al Franken is heavy into the world of recovering substance abusers, and he was using this movie to work out some of his own problems. Some people like that notion of art as self-revelation, and others don't. But that doesn't make it a bad movie.
One of the reasons that cities pay so much to help build stadiums is because the stadium brings so many people to the area it creates a somewhat massive economic boom in the area, which over time can be worth more money than the cost to build the stadium.
That's a pretty controversial claim. Roger Noll and Andrew Zimbalist have written an influential book on the topic, Sports, Jobs, and Taxes: The Economic Impact of Sports Teams and Stadiums. Quoting from the Amazon book description, their primary conclusions are:
first, sports teams and facilities are not a source of local economic growth and employment; second, the magnitude of the net subsidy exceeds the financial benefit of a new stadium to a team; and, third, the most plausible reasons that cities are willing to subsidize sports teams are the intense popularity of sports among a substantial proportion of voters and businesses and the leverage that teams enjoy from the monopoly position of professional sports leagues.
Those conclusions may be wrong, but they are shaping the thinking of more and more cities. What evidence do you have that your claims are right?

One bee against a bear in no match, but thousands will eventually come out, attack, and drive off the bear.
I'd like to think you're right, but I'm not sure you are. Do we really have any evidence that community efforts such as Groklaw have had any effect on SCO? So far as I can tell, they are losing solely on the merits.
Life is short, go do something with your lives, don't tear down anyone who chooses to follow through on an idea, rather than just sit around and watch reruns of Friends.
Unless your goal is to watch every rerun of Friends. In that case, you can set up a website describing your experiences of watching Friends during all the different times it is shown. Then you can get Slashdotted.
I have personally met several of the Microsoft employees who are doing the work on Sender-ID. I have ever reason to beleive that they are working in good faith
Microsoft is a corporation, not a human person. Whether its minions have good faith or not is beside the point.
Great comments. It frustrates me when people act as though they can't see any reasonable argument for limiting teenagers' access to sexually explicit material. The points you make might not carry the day, but they at least show that there are serious considerations on both sides of the argument. Public policy always has costs and benefits; people who pretend that there's no trade-off make it harder to figure out how to balance the different considerations.
If that were true, then the RIAA could only sue people who had bought the music and were distributing it. But lots of people distribute music they never bought.

pcHDTV has listed a series of dates. When the date passes, they put up a new one. Now they don't have any date at all.

Do they seriously expect to be able to compete against Infinium Labs' Phantom? Good luck!

You're on the losing side of this fight, Performer Guy. I hope you're being well paid.

No ads. No Slashdot.
Slashdot has ads?!
On Ebay you can find plenty of old, inexpensive tablet computers. They're fine for most things people want computers for.

why are you talking to your right hand?
Why do you assume he's right-handed?
and will never stay up when taken higher..
Do you know anything about the German legal system? Or do you just think that a higher court should overturn this decision because it's unreasonable?
This is a VERY SIMPLE CONTRACTUAL ISSUE.

I would not bust out my $1300 laptop and sit around in a rest stop to browse the net unless I was packing.
This is Texas we're talking about. All of us are packing!
ROTFLMAO! Mod parent up!
