I don't fully understand your situation. If you were only working somewhere for two days, or a week, or similar.. you'd receive a 1099, not a W2. There are no tax withholdings in a 1099'd ("subcontractor") position. I, like many of us, have been self-employed for years and am more than familiar with this mess. Please explain your situation so that I can better help.

How do you prevent cache poisoning? The system you propose would have to work something like BitTorrent. How do you determine who's authoritative? With BitTorrent, no one is "authoritative" on a single torrent. There still has to be a trusted "seed" (the root servers). DNS has to remain centralized in SOME sense in order to work. It is already largely decentralized in the sense that you can use any ISPs nameservers and get the same generally reliable data.

The robotic StratoSail will have a stabilizing wing suspended several miles below it.

I realize all of your points, and agree with the majority of them. However, it's important to note that for whatever reason, in the local news here, several stories are about violence/gang activity at these cafes. These cameras/guards aren't about spying on you using the net, but about curtailing gang activity. Installing security cameras/personnel was the alternative to closing them all. We should be applauding this city for not having a knee-jerk reaction and shutting down all of them. Yes, I know. I've opened up an onslaught of +5, Funny's involving gangs and the internet. Enjoy.

PO Boxes are expensive and only accept USPS mail. I have a box at The UPS Store, formerly MailBoxes Etc. It accepts mail from any service, and they will even hold UPS/FedEx packages for me (ones that obviously don't fit in my box.) One large advantage, IMO, is that it allows me to put my address as "12345 Culver Dr. #A144". This looks like an office suite, instead of a PO Box. YMMV. Good luck.
