I'm a Microsoft head myself... but actually even I have to admit, MAC was the first personal PC with a GUI in the home, not Windows. Of course DOS was REALLY first so...
And that's exactly why we're sticking with Sunbelt's version instead of going with Microsoft's (Giant's). I personally like Microsoft but as for spyware we'll stick with http://www.sunbeltsoftware.com/CounterSpyEnterpris e.cfm.
Um... you DO realize the "home" and the "business stuff is basically the exact same now. You're not paying for better quality, you're paying for support and consistancy in model lines.
I've work on many a home Dimension and 1000's of Optiplexes. Trust me...it's basically the same beast inside and now even the cover. Might want to get your facts straight.;)

Given that OS X has shown us the power of this method, why haven't any distros latched onto it? Yes, it means that the OS must promise a base set of shared libraries, but the user experience is so much better!
*cough*.NET *cough*...and even Java if you want to stretch it.
I don't assume what MAC's do or don't do, but don't assume XP doesn't already do something MAC's do. So help me if I hear one more person say the phrase DLL help in reference to anything other than Office 97 or Windows 3.1...
ha ha, yeah no kidding... because Microsoft is just a little pissant upstart with no real influence or stronghold on the technology industry. NOTHING like the mighty Linux crowd!
Where's Triumph the insult comic dog when you need him.;)
You aparently know nothing about the Stars Wars universe. I'm not Star Wars fan/geek or read any of the books and even I know there's more story written beyond Ep. 6. Hans and Leah get married, etc, etc...
They will NEVER go open source on that stuff. The IBM programmers were paid by the line on a lot of that code. It would be an imbarasment to let it get out. Yes, it was stable for the times, but it was slow as crap because the code was bloated. I was force to work with OS/2 a lot right to the end so I know. There's too much crap in there IBM doesn't want or is at least too embarrassed for you to see at this point.
I'm a Windows sell-out myself, but even I recognize that Linux and open source has come so far there is very little to gain from the now-ancient OS/2. It's time to move forward not back and the gains you would get from a decade old 32-bit OS are barely worth looking through all the lines of code. Spend the same time working with newer code.
Um... okay? Who said anything about acedemic? I never mentioned the kind? In fact, more to the point that's where the tax-dollar kind would go, the non-acedemic reward ones--i.e. we pay the poor to get rich.

An alternator never "kicks in" btw... it is always on whether the electrical power generated is being created is used/stored or not.

You know they must be hurting if they feel they have to do this to make a profit at this point.

You are correct. Now all you have to do is get spelling down. ;)
Actually the Han Solo Cold Point index has now been replaced with the more accurate Dentine Ice Freeze Point Indicator unit of measure.
