Outside of geekdom, there are not that many people (when compared with the CD-listening population) who can take their MP3 collections and successfully and reliably burn CDs that play in CD players Huh? I don't think I've ever met anyone who couldn't figure out how to burn CDs from MP3's using one of the MANY popular applications available to do it. Between WMP, Roxio/Adaptec, Nero, MP3CDMaker and others, I don't think there's any one computer task EASIER than creating a CD from MP3s!

    Thank you for contacting SONY.

With the exception of some of the new 2000 Mobile Xplod series, our Sony CD
units are designed to play only commercially-produced and copyrighted CDs.

These units are not designed to be compatible with CDs that are produced on
a CD-ROM or other recording unit. It is possible that some of them may
work, but they are not designed to do so.

We can not guarantee compatibility due to the reflective properties of
CD-ROM media (it is different from pre-recorded CD's), and the different
laser wavelength requirements of CD-ROM media.

If you are able to play commercially-produced CD's in the unit, the unit is
    working up to factory specifications.

  11. Re:It's just getting worse... on Is The U.S. No Longer The Choice For Freedom? · · Score: 1

It`d be nice if people went `wait a minute, i dont like (for example) the `war on drugs`, lets vote for someone who`ll dump it and spend the money saved on free health insurance`. As soon as they do, the war on drugs will go away.

I know that's how I would like it to work, the only problem with that is that the person that might want to dump the war on drugs might want to do a bunch of other stuff that I think is a REALLY bad idea. So the candidate that has the least amount of bad ideas in a decent ratio to good ideas might win, and the next time around we'll possibly get another circle jerk.

But imagine a perfect (in your eyes) system. Wouldnt it still suck if people voted for morons? An uncrackable system is no use if people use `guest/guest` for their id/password. You wouldnt blame the system then, so why do so now?

I'm not saying our system is incredibly horseshit, it's better than most - the problem that I tried to hit in the end of that comment is that part of the reason it's not that great is because of the way the media overexposes the people that want to run for office. Clinton is a good example - he did stuff that politicians have done since the dawn of time. I think it's fairly widely known that JFK slept around a bit, but the media didn't hitch onto that. I don't know why, but things may have been different back then.

and it's probably going to continue getting worse until more people get involved in the political process. This last election was the first time I have ever endeavoured to get involved, and with the way it turned out, it really let me down and made me lose even more faith in the system.

That, and the fact that anyone who would make good candidate material has too many skeletons in the closet that they are afraid of the media uncovering. I know that if when I was older I decided that I had what it takes to hold office I would never run because I have done some bad things in my time that I would NEVER want exposed to the world.

I am also interested in finding out what would need to be done to get this setup working on a Linux box, as running Windows on this simple gaming setup seems very wasteful and it's impossible to do any cool remote stuff, but I have not been able to find any information on using the S-Video out on that card under Linux AT ALL. Does anyone have any information on what needs to be done to activate that part of the card, or if it's supposed to TV out automatically if the resolution is below 800x600?

The games that try to be cool just on the basis of looking pretty alone usually suck, but games that are FUN to play, and have good graphics/sounds are REALLY FUN to play. Star Trek Voyager: EF is a good example. It's fun to play, and the sounds, graphics, etc make it really exciting.

Others that come with a "Companion" CD (Old practice, most don't even do that anymore) have all the .CABs and etc, just no setup.exe. Use the one from the \cabs folder and you're good to go!
