    Joystick port add in cards were dirt cheap way before the soundcard mounted ones appeared.

    You also need a good quality pressing too. I bought a lot of LP's in the sixties, seventies and early eighties and must say that I was not impressed with the quality of a lot of LP's. Pits and warps are just two problems you frequently got.

    All the default settings are in config.cfg iirc.

    Everytime I build a new rig I install QuakeII just to do a timedemo.

    My last one was 975fps at 1280 X 960, kinda beats the 83fps at 800 X 600
    I used to get with my old Voodoo2 card with the 3DNow optimised version
    on a K6-III 450 that I had when the game came out.

    Nvidia's Soundstorm was the best onboard audio in my experience. I preferred onboard Soundstorm to my then current Audigy card.

    I have quite a few and they all work fine. The main difference that I notice between my older discs and newer ones is the level.
