"They can sound better if you have a good turntable with a good cartridge, a good preamp and amp, and good speakers that are capable of resolving the differences between digital and analog audio. The problem is, you're talking about $20,000 worth of high-end audio equipment there."
You also need a good quality pressing too. I bought a lot of LP's in the sixties, seventies and early eighties and must say that I was not impressed with the quality of a lot of LP's. Pits and warps are just two problems you frequently got.
"You need a TV Licence to use any television receiving equipment such as a TV set, set-top boxes, video or DVD recorders, computers or mobile phones to watch or record TV programmes as they are being shown on TV.
If you use a set-top box with a hi-fi system or another device that can only be used to produce sounds and can't display TV programmes, and you don't install or use any other TV receiving equipment, you don't need a TV Licence."
Everytime I build a new rig I install QuakeII just to do a timedemo.
My last one was 975fps at 1280 X 960, kinda beats the 83fps at 800 X 600 I used to get with my old Voodoo2 card with the 3DNow optimised version on a K6-III 450 that I had when the game came out.
the day I brought home a 48k Spectrum with a few games. My wife said "Why couldn't you buy something ALL the family can enjoy!" Two days later I couldn't get near the thing.;)
Have you listened to a selection of frequencies across the 22KHz spectrum that are all the same level?
"The IBM PC had no joystick ports"
Joystick port add in cards were dirt cheap way before the soundcard mounted ones appeared.
I still have at least one 8bit ISA one hiding around here somewhere.
Unlike us rich bastards that have to pay money into a pension fund all our working lives.
Didn't IBM take over with version 2 or 2.1?
You've never heard of a D Notice?
The Tories were rather fond of those when they were in power.

"there's no engineer out there dedicating his life to polishing wooden volume knobs."
;)
Well as far as I'm concerned, anyone that spends that amount of money on a volume knob IS a dedicated knob polisher.

Nvidia's Soundstorm was the best onboard audio in my experience. I preferred onboard Soundstorm to my then current Audigy card.
Does it go to the basement?
"In reality, subway stations have ads in them that don't collect information about me"
;)
There you go, corrected.
Go forth and multiply. ;)
Considering how bad 2 and 3 were compared to the 1st one?
I think a Big Red Book would be more fitting.

I really don't want to think about the kissing of cow-orkers bit now.
"often so fast I can't even hit del fast enough"
;)
Disable "Quick Boot" in the BIOS will solve that.
If you are quick enough to get in there that is.

I have quite a few and they all work fine. The main difference that I notice between my older discs and newer ones is the level.
Yes, I just love pop-ups that tell me I can have a larger penis.
Geek sports jocks wow the girls with their 1337 wrist action and fingering skills.
Err, Sorry. Got a bit carried away there. That last bit should read "1337 mouse and keyboard skills"
