Anybody see the movie? Talk about hitting the nail on the head in an artistic fashion. Maybe what we all need is a nice happy pill that removes any individual thought or freedom. Only -then- will we truly be free from terrorists. /sarcasm off

While I completely agree that the energy crisis is very pressing, I don't think that the solution the republicans are proposing has much chance of successfully resolving the crisis. It does, however, have a very good chance of 'looking' like they're doing something. Yay politics. I vote with you, sir, for the third party.

Not only a cover-up, but in my personal opinion, should be able to be used in court as proof of corruption of the politicans attempting to grant it. As a citizen of this country, I -expect- everyone to follow the letter of the law, politicans and huge mega-corps included. I sincerely doubt that I would be given retro-active unconditinal immunity if I get a speeding ticket, and then a few days later they change the speed limit high enough to where I wouldn't have been speeding. Why should a mega-corporation be any different? Because they can influence the government more than the individual can, which is a red flag for corruption in my book.

Then again, I'm just a registered voter, my opinion doesn't matter in a crooked system like the US electorial system.

I'm glad to see you posted anon, for starters. Ted Stevens is one of the worst corrupt political figures in this country. Quite honestly, with the number of Federal laws he's broken in the past few years, he deserves to sit and rot in prison for the remainder of his life. Won't happen, of course, but it would if you, or I would have done the same thing. He may be your mascot against, "The Will of the People", but unless ya'll are not part of the United States any more, then he, and you, are still required to follow Federal laws. I would be VERY happy if the same investigations were started on every single politician in the US Government of any public office. Democrat or Republican. Ted Stevens is corrupt, and corrupt government officals should get jail time. I'm sorry that you think that you, and the rest of Alaksa, is better than the rest of the country, but I think I speak for the rest of us when I say F Off.

What about the DMCA then, that says that if an ISP or other content provider blocks any traffic then they aren't protected as a provider and can be held accountable for any content that is transferred across their network? I guess if the ISPs can enforce one law and ignore another, why can't the FCC?

Plus, the poorly written bill sets up an unnecessarily wide dragnet, Schultz said. It criminalizes the placement of any copyright work on a computer network.

"If you have a file stored on your computer and your computer is connected to a publicly available network, you may not even know that you are committing a felony, but this law could put you in jail," he said.

So, even if you don't know you are connected to kazaa (computer in a library, for instance) you could still get jail time for it, positivly amazing. I'm sorry I live in Michigan, where someone from my state wrote this pos up.

. In a more rational commercial environment, Corbis could simply have sent Amazon a bill. If Amazon refused to pay, then legal action would start. And Amazon would have the option of paying, then passing the bill back to the people posting copyright material on its site.

This isn't how it works currently though, Amazon is protected under the DMCA for the IP violations of it's marketplace users, they would've been well within their bounds to not pay any bill Corbis could have sent them.
