  1. Re:VoIP Deathknell? on Cable Internet Service Not Common Carrier · · Score: 1

I would think this wouldn't impact them much, since you need to have the internet access from the cable company to begin with. I could be wrong, but VOIP is just more IP traffic over the network connection you're paying for, and I'm betting that as soon as Comcast starts messing with that, people are going to yell about it. I know I'll be one of them.

100 bucks seems a bit steep. I would love to at least play around with it and give it a go, but not for 100.00. Hopefully they'll either come out with a LiveCD or come to their senses and drop the price to something more reasonable.

  3. Re:Comcast = not free DVR on TiVo to Offer SDK · · Score: 1

I see your point. Unfortunately for me, if I want DVR from Comcast, it would require me to up my current cable plan just to get it. I like my basic+, it has what I watch, so Tivo would be a better investment. Or, for the price of a PVR250 and a bit of time, I'd build my own. Granted if it breaks I'm screwed, but at least I won't be forced into a high cable plan all because I want DVR.

  5. Re:Why I Don't Use Firefox on Mozilla 1.7.5 Released · · Score: 1

Sorry you had such a bad Firefox experience. I downloaded and installed it and did NOT have to futz with config files, and the browser did everything I expected it to do. It worked for me without issue. Just because you've had a bad experience doesn't mean that EVERY user is gonna have the same problems that you do.

I don't think "our User friends" are going to want to replace something free with something they need to pay for, or something that has ads on it. If Opera were free (as in no ads in the free version), then I'd say you have a valid point. But, think about the average user's thoughts. "Hmm, I have a web browser that didn't cost a dime and doesn't bug me with ads, and you want me to pay for another browser". I don't think that would happen.

So, I advocate Firefox / Thunderbird and even Mozilla, depending on who I'm talking to and what they want.

Why would anyone buy an X-box when virtually every title for it is out for the PC?
Well, I can think of a few reasons:
    - The Xbox is now only 149.00. If you have an out of data machine, you may spend at least that much to upgrade it.
    - Ease of use. Some people may not like to use a computer, but they love video games. Open the DVD tray, drop the game in, and off you go.

half of the "new" titles coming out for the X-Box are three year old PC titles?
If you can show me that Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow, Steel Batallion, or Doom III (coming in June) have been out for three years, then I'll give you credit. Otherwise, nice troll attempt.
