My Aunt got one of these video's once. She returned it after a couple of weeks... she could figure out how to put it into the computer. I didn't come with any instructions.
I think this will suck the soul out of the thing. It was exactly these low-tech touches that make it what it is. The imagination required to watch and enjoy these shows will be stunted. They'll be come the same old eye-candy type of sf show that's already prevalent. Granted it's the same dialog and all... but it will distract from the essence of the experience.
Well, that's overstating it a bit. But I would have thought that all the money being poured into this thing they (M$) could at least come up with something original. Instead they put out a product that is orthogonal to it's nearest competitor.
Lame in my opinion. Oh well. Perhaps a quick hack to turn the WIFI feature into something cool...
Put a tray of 100 twinkies out in times square and tell the bums they can only have one to eat.
Then expect they'll follow your instructions. And you gotta know that at least one of the twinkies will be used for something other than eating.
It's absurd to believe that the world at large has the same goals as you for a given project. It could be Chocodile kinda crowd. Then the twinkies can be ignored and they move on to something harder like RingDings. Then where are you?!
Damn those Twinkies and their evil lure...
$15k for what?! Just the software and a few DSP farms.
Let's talk about a console: ~$150k Let's talk about the outboard gear: ~$250k Let's talk about the microphones: ~$100k Let's talk about the recording space: -Initial building: ~$1.5m -Initial fitting with rooms: ~$50k Let's talk about the engineers: ~$85k/person/year Let's talk about the advertising: ~$25k/year
And there's more... instruments, specialists, A&R,...

Someone sounds jealous... heh... It's easier to tear down someone else's ideas than create new ones yourself.
