    Yes, you are correct to reject those who
    willing to spend their time to answer 100 mostly
    unrelated questions. Most competent persons
    will laugh at you if you ask them to do this

    The GPL demands money if you want the code under a different license. You have to pay if you want to remove the GPL restrictions; whereas, for BSD sofware do not have to pay.

    I don't know if Makedonias were allowed to
    compelte in the Olympics. It is a fair
    indication that if Makedonias were invited to compete
    with other Greeks, then Makedonias were also Greeks.
    Please remember that Larisa is only a short
    distance away from Pela (Makedonia), and Larisa
    was a Greek city famous for it horsemanship --
    the Kentucky Derby of ancient times. On the
    surface, it seems more probable that Makedonia
    was considered Greek among the Greeks.

    Your definition is not very intresting. Almost all other groups state that they also stand for freedom, liberty, responsibility, and prosperity. Same thing for peace.

    common thinking, at least of the humans I meet

    With the logic of 'welcome to the real world' I should be allowed to rape your daughter. Defective public bridges should also be allowed to fall, and should take your chances when you fly on the airplane.

    The issue is not whether you must accept the realities of life (or life is not fair) and just deal with it. The issue is whether you desire a better life and to help make it possible.

    And do you suppose the seed of the farmer
    are 'just a liability'? The seed, the manure, and pencils,
    are all directly contributing towards generating his income.


    The toilet paper in the bathrooms (to you, 'liability')
    is actually more important than the last sale. Is it not?

    According to your logic, all I have to prove
    is whether looting brings down prices. Well, it
    does! After 20,000 laptops are looted, prices
    will tend to decrease since a lot people already
    own laptops and demand for laptops is less than
    before.

    People, there is no such thing as right and wrong
    it all depends on where is your self-interest. This
    you call 'right' and 'just'.

    I always knew that the term 'GNU' was not
    a trademark, and you can still observe this
    in software named with the prefix gnu.
    Yours was the second post that keeps claiming
    the 'GNU' is an official trademark, and the
    first post insited even more bluntly. I understand
    that at /. everyone writes whatever comes
    to their head, as the thoughts arrive and without processing, but
    I am begining to feel too much disorientation.
    A quick search at Google has yet to clarify
    who is right; could someone who actually knows
    inform us if 'GNU' is a trademark. Thanks.

    A small correction. I remember that the person
    who first filed to trademark 'Linux' and then
    asked for royalties was a computer programmer
    (not a lawyer). In fact, he fired his lawyer
    after the lawyer advised him to settle the
    lawsuit brought by Linus and the Linux companies.

    Most people have a price, where from that point
    the rewords are worth the risk. Surely, the
    more you pay the higher the chances
    to buy loyalty. But they are already
    earning more money than their compatriots?
    That is irrelevant: I also have my price,
    and if the money are attractive, and
    attractive enough, it is easier to flip to
    the other side; nothing to do with comperative
    salaries.

    How can you steal SSN numbers? These numbers are
    not meant to stay secret, they should be treated
    in the same way we treat telephone numbers from
    the telephone book. How can you steal telephone
    numbers from the telephone book? In similar way, the SSN numbers
    are public identifiers, not secrets.

    Yes, but the REAL point is that the terms
    of GPL does affect prices. When everyone is
    allowed to distribute unlimited copies it
    does not take long for prices to drop all
    the way down to zero! This is a direct
    result from the terms of the GPL (which speaks
    nothing about price).

    This is what is passed as "news". Is the

    Finally, the parent post has some clue where International waters start. I personally thought they start at 12 miles, but only 6 miles around islands.

    Furthermore, since I think Reagan, the US (unilaterally) declared that its waters extend for 200 miles: the first 6 miles belong to the state, and the rest 194 miles belong to federal government.

    Either way, 3.5 offshore is not International waters.

    What? If a stranger or relative requests as a favor to drop him at the airport, do I have to honor his request or provide a lengthy explanation why I choose not to comply? No explanation is needed. And so what if the stranger chooses a commercial alternative by hiring a taxi cab?

    Unless of course you imply that kernel developers should be slaves, either to CA or to 'the common good', which for you means Linux market share. The kernel developers have their own personal goals, it is their own time, and have little obligation to follow other peoples interests.

    If speed is such a major concern, would it not be simpler to
    adjust the gas intake of cars cannot run above
    the highest speed limit? Such modifications could be optional, or
    they could be mandated by law -- depending on what you want accomplished.
    Issuing traffic tickets via monitoring systems mostly indicates
    a desire to collect money, not a desire for public safety.

    is well known (through court rulings) that
    they don't play within the confines of the
    law. I am afraid, this empire does not always
