FilePlanet is indeed very Full these last weeks... gamespy doesn't seem to care either. But that's why there's also an archive.org link with no lines or registration bull.
Don't forget you can't access that game in AC, and a couple others, like LoZ, without using an action replay or similar cheating device. If you have one already, great, but who's going to buy that just to get the games in AC when you could just buy the games?
Me too... after I moved the old installation to a backup directory and went to install 0.7 to a new directory, I noticed the installer wouldn't even let you create a new folder! I had to make one myself and then pick that in the installer. After it installed, it locked up on starting. I couldn't even ctrl+alt+delete it to kill it, and it was using 100% cpu, and had to hard reset to kill it so I could uninstall it.
Now, if you were running Win 9x... that's be a different story
Just an FYI, I've got the same windows 95 installaton for 4.5 years now and it works fine. It would be even longer if my hard drive hadn't died back then! I still use it because I never got a copy of 98, ME sucks, and 2k/xp are too slow for my 450 mhz.
Why do the Metroid videos on your site use savepoints? So that the player can go back and try a section of the game over again if they mess up, of course. That's "cheating" too, at least by Twin Galaxies rules.
Yawn, more confusion from a coward. First of all, who made TwinGalaxies god? Just because they publish a book doesn't make them more legit than me, I'm not in competition with them. Anyway about saves in games and TG... allow me to provide some links. Here is TG's press release from May 2003 about a new Metroid prime record in 1:46. Guess what, it was recorded WITH SAVES! Here is proof of that. And how about a run of the original Metroid. No saves in that game, so it's in a single seg.
Don't forget about my site. But what's a shame is that the existance of this cheated emulator site causes people to not want to bother doing speed runs for NES games anymore because then they'll just be compared against these and told they suck. I've been trying to convince TSA to do a LoZ run for me, he says he can get less than 29 minutes, but that'd still be almost 2 minutes slower than their "perfection" that I have no interest in watching.
Yeah it's dark, but if you go into your DivX settings and turn up the brightness you can still see it fine. I've already got a dark monitor and that makes it quite viewable.
If you use actual legal copies of Microsoft's development tools, the cost is somewhat significant
Many universities have deals with microsft that let you get their software either free or really cheap. That's how I got my copy of MSVC++ 6.0 which I used to write a freeware compression program and puzzle game.
He means that it's an extension of SDA... used to be all about Quake but now it's expanding. Of course Quake wasn't the first speed run game... even on the internet, I think that would have to be Doom.
I have 1:05... I started to record it a few weeks ago and then BrightStar comes out of the blue to do a 100%. I wasn't expecting competition heh. I'll finish mine soon though and it'll be on the same page. Maybe I'll get 1:04 or even 1:03 but I don't see how under an hour would be possible.
how do you know you have 100%? Super Metroid was the first game to bother keeping track of your completion rate and I have yet to find complete maps of the game anywhere
100% is just getting every item... pretty simple:-) Since the weapons respawn and are in different places, we just decided that you have to get each one once.
As for a complete map, check GameFAQs, I just submitted once recently.
Because most of these videos are NOT a mere five minutes. They tend to be several hours' worth, because most records, even speed runs, can't be completed any faster. If someone tries to "marathon" a classic game that he's previously mastered, it can stretch on past a day's length.
And why would anyone care about the failures on the rest of the tape? You crop out the part that's the artual run and you've got a 5 1/2 minute video. Since TG won't host it, you contact me and I will!
OK, please buy me a new computer and I'll get right on it!

Id much rather seem movies of some one clearn all the levels perfect then this :)
That's what the 100% runs are for.
No mirror except the google cache that I know of, but I can assure you that metroid2002.com will be back by the weekend.
I walk 23 minutes to work every day for nearly the last 2 years.

So, my web site is larger ;-) I added it up to 16GB last week.
Pokemon GBA proves otherwise.

It depends on the site and your definition of "real".

Several of them ... speed run movies :-)

By being a normal weight and not being mean? I'd better be carefull or I'll get labelled as a terrorist!

Recorded with emulators using thousands of save states and slow motion too.
Everything at SDA is on the real game.
