Ya, an X38 loaded with Asus flagship features and doodads. If I want a new Asus motherbord featuring X38, I'll wait for their "lite" version. Obviously, their reaching out for the highend market first.
Here's an example. Currently, Asus as five boards featuring both the P35 chipset with ICH9 south bridge. According to Newegg.com, their cheapest P35 board (ASUS P5KC) lists for $99.99 while their "flagship" (ASUS P5K3 DELUXE/WIFI-AP) lists for $239.99. With Asus, this is the rule, not the exception for how they develop and market their products around a chipset platform.
I've never used nLite, but I have slipstreamed manually before. It's not hard at all! You can find a nice walk-through on performing your own slipstreaming and ISO building (bootable) here. The instructions are practically spoon-fed. =)
I would rather "troll" and be *correct*, than call someone a troll and be *wrong* (like you).
As for your statement on buying some prebuilt name brand... get real. My clients have moved past that stage and realize by spending a little more they get a vastly more reliable PC because I know exactly what goes into them.
Actually, I've found custom built PCs to be the most *unreliable* for every customer I've provided IT services for. I'm not talking about one blueprinted custom PC that's been built for an office. I'm talking about the hodgepodge of clones each with their own set of hardware combinations. Supporting them has also been a huge PITA. For what I charge an hour, by the time I diagnose and correct a hardware issue on my own (and I can do it rather quickly with my experience), then go out and purchase replacement parts (failed fan, HD, CDROM, etc), my billable time has already exceeded the cost of the machine.
Sorry, but your clients are uninformed regarding TCO (total cost ownership) with custom built PCs. PCs with a 3y warranty from Dell, HP, IBM have been proven to provide a lower TCO. Examples include on-site hardware support, and ability to only need a few clone restoration images. With custom built PCs, you may have rebuild them from scratch in the event catastrophic hard drive failure. Unless of course, you want to keep a copy of a cloned image for each custom built PC of different blueprints.
Microsoft marketing drones have been gaming tech site comment systems for a while now. Any discussion of Linux, GPL3, ODF or any other topic which threatens their monopoly will be swamped with red herring and troll posts.
No doubt you have your Microsoft fanatics perusing topics regarding Linux. But, are you serious about Microsoft employees doing the modding? I find that very hard to believe as it sounds too conspiratorial.
If what you say is true, than there's a solution. Slashdot could block the IP ranges belonging to all of Microsoft's branch offices including the main one in Redmond. What I mean by block, is to flag and prevent these IPs from modding users posting in topics marked "Linux". Technically, it could be done. Getting the correct IP ranges however, would be the difficult task.
Yes, I am advocating censorship for astroturfers. If a Microsoft employee still wants to mod a Linux topic, they can damn well do it from home if they still feel that passionate about it.
There's a market for them because they obviously sell. But when I'm talking about "our" market, I'm talking about the Slashdot crowd. I will almost guarantee that most people here do NOT want an "all-in-one" board.
These all-in-one boards are for two types of people. The first type are for overclockers that want all those extra tweaking features found only with these type of boards. The second type is for entry-level PC builders. No serious enthusiast will DARE build one with the idea of actually using these on-board features. Those that do, simply disable them and use their own expansion cards.
So you want to tell me again that I don't know WHAT THE FUCK I'M talking about?! Go on buddy, just try it!
Because of the price, this mobo will be a total flop. Unless you're an overclocker, most PC builders want a simple board that still provides the latest in North/South bridge technologies. No WiFi, no super mega 7.1 audio, no dual nics, no on-board video. None of that crap matters in our market. If we really wanted all of those features, we would purchase a thin client PC from Dell which includes a nice warranty should any of those on-board features fail.
I hope your not putting up with that level of service. If that's the quality of your digital cable experience, you should call them ASAP to schedule a technician. The issue won't magically correct itself; YOU have to call it in to them.
Digital cable is great technology that yeilds an excellent picture. But in the event of trouble, you should get it corrected and ask for a refund on your bill.
The interesting thing about stealth technology however, is that it is almost exclusively used for aggression rather than defense if you play your strategy according to tradition.
That may be the historical case, but stealth technology is very useful for defense. I mean, if you're going to defend your home land, I doubt you will want your defenses shot down by an aggressor before they go after civilian infrastructure.
I've spied on the Daily Kos and other such blogs, so I have a well informed opinion on why they want Ron Paul elected.
They know none of the Democrat presidential candidates stand a chance against Rudy Giuliani or Fred Thompson come 08. It will be even worse for the Democrats should Hillary Clinton win the primaries for the 08 election. If you though ABB (Anybody But Bush) was nasty, wait till you hear and see in-action ABC (Anybody But Clinton).
So here we are, with liberals backing up Ron Paul to help him win the Republican Primaries and for only one fucking reason. ANTI WAR! That's it. Never mind the fact he goes against liberal ideology with is other views. It's the defeat of America to spite Bush that's the most important to them.
Nothing is foolproof. However, Memtest86+ comes pretty damn close to it. If you're getting error events while running the program, it's %99.999 (BS made up number, don't hold me to it) certain you have bad memory, incorrect timing and/or voltage settings, or a failing north bridge chip (Intel systems). I've also seen error thrown because of an overheating CPU or one with faulty cache on-die. Either way, if you have a hardware program regarding memory read/writes, this program is sure to expose them.
Now if Memtest86+ would test hard drive cache and the south bridge chip, THAT would be the "cats meow"!
The ability to spend $5k on a cable indicates to females that you have higher social status than the rest of the ordinary spuds who only spend $5.
It's all about your audience. If your goal is to attract females, do NOT do so with large amounts of money and spending. Sure, you will be making progress in your goal, but in the wrong way.
Let me put it to you this way. Chicks that are attracted to money are just as likely to leave you when they find some guy with more. Basically, you're setting yourself up to be dumped and/or divorced in the future. So never, ever, reel women in with your display of wealth!
OTOH if you're looking for some limited pussy and ass action and *not* a real meaningful relationship, disregard my advice. Good luck.
I remember back when 30pin SIMMs (Used with 486 computers and older) were the latest technology. The #2 rule was to NEVER mix tin contacts with a gold socket and vise versa. The #1 rule was to avoid ESD which is still an important rule today.
They actualy result in both less memory usage and FASTER processing
Less memory utilization, sure. But, faster processing?
Technically, processing of any data that's compressed will require more processing cycles. Perhaps you mean more "efficient". In other words, you will get faster rendering if all your textures reside in the on-board memory. If those textures were decompressed, you risk having them swapped in and out of memory across the AGP, PCIE bus which in turn causes a rendering bottleneck. That is of course assuming those uncompressed textures are very large.
Asshole or not, I'm please that he/she reports them.
I'm sorry, but if that person is the only one in the vehicle driving in an HOV lane, then that jackass deserve to be reported! People need to learn to be considerate of others and the roads they drive on.
Side note: Hang up the FUCKING CELL PHONE while in rush hour traffic!!! I sware to God, if I get into an accedent cause of someone not paying attention while on the phone, I WILL subpoenia those phone records and sue!
Just for clarification; I think you mean the *practice* of Christianity has become diluted by society. However, the core principles and beliefs in of themselves have not become diluted. In other words, more and more people choose not to walk the path of Christ as He intended.
Interestingly enough, Christ was a true Socialist. Yet, most die-hard Socialists (Communists) don't or refuse to believe in a higher power than them selves. In their eyes, only Government is to be look at and revered as the central source of power and authority. I wonder what changed... and why?
Basically, here is what's in store for future Americans in the next 50 years.
1. English is still the primary language, but learning Spanish is a *requirement* in public education. 2. Not an official requirement, but learning Chinese is required if you wish to maintain competitive via tapping into the Chinese market.
So one could say that future Americans will learn English, Spanish, and Chinese. Combine them, and you've got Spanglishinese!
Medicine is not the place to go - there is an insane glut of grad students and postdocs. Competition is extremely fierce. If you're thinking of going for any sort of specialty practice- forget it. Everyone wants to be a *insert narrow specialty* doctor; nobody wants to be a general practitioner or go into pediatrics where we really need doctors. So, we have 50 zillion hand surgeons, and a line a mile out the doors of all the family docs.
As for medical research - our lab is chock full of foreign students. The lab director prefers them because they're basically slaves- they want desperately to be in the US, and the lab holds their visa. They'll put up with shit pay, no/little credit for their work, insane hours, and unreasonable demands.
This is a good thing, right? Simple economic theory should state having medical care being as cheap as your pet's veterinarian or hair stylist. So just why is it so damn expensive?
by exploiting technology developed for students who are deaf or hard of hearing, as well as other accent reduction techniques
Call it what you will, but know this; if you live in a 3rd world nation and have a hearing and/or speech handicap, your economic chances for a quality life are next to none! This technology will provide employment opportunities that they would otherwise not have. In a 3rd world nation, this could mean the difference between being malnourished and having a comfortable place to sleep at night.
I really wish would some people would stop looking at employment as a form of exploitation. Why not look at the positive aspects of a developing nation. In other words, you should compare their quality of life before, and after. While working in a factory may be slave labor and beneath us, ask your self why they still work there. I'm willing to bet it's because they hate working in the farm plowing fields for even less money.
Maybe it's just me, but I've always placed value on any system or method that helps people raise their standard of living. I don't compare my standard of living with someone else. What I *do* look for is if *their* standard of living has improved. That is what's important. Too look at it differently would be ignorance and class-guilt.
It's not just for frame buffering. That memory is also used to store texture maps, Z-buffers, stencil buffers, etc. Basically, Almost all of it is used for 3D games/applications. If all you needed was a 2D card, you could get away with just 64MB of on-board RAM.
Well yes, but the only "right condition" currently know to happen is "life"...
That's called Biogenic theory. It's also the most widely excepted theory in geology.
However, some geologiests subcribe to the Abiogenic theory which states crude oil was formed naturally durring the development of our planet. While unlikely, it's still possible for Mars to contain pockets of crude oil without ever having life.

You DO know that local cable co's have been providing this service for years now. Right? If you've got Comcast or Time Warner, give them a call.
it's back to man-vs-man... like it should be
True, but this time with "Predator like" cloaking technologies. Thanks to the University of Tokyo, big strides have been made in this area.
My solution would be to cover yourself in mud... Hey, it worked for Schwarzenegger!
That may be the historical case, but stealth technology is very useful for defense. I mean, if you're going to defend your home land, I doubt you will want your defenses shot down by an aggressor before they go after civilian infrastructure.

Don't forget "Time".
In the real world, I charge money for my Time and Services. There's more to an economy that just raw resource availability.
Isn't Duck and Cover still taught to Japanese school children for in the event of an earthquake?
