Is there a 500-word essay out there that you cannot turn into a book? He needs to write a popular (how does he do it!? he must be a maven!) book on that!
This does not change India's status as a "player" in that respect. It does not need very much range at all to hit Pakistan or China. It is so close to Pakistan that it would be -very- difficult for either side to retaliate in the case of a nuclear attack if there was any amount of hesitation, which does make the situation dangerous (for fear of false positive indicators of an attack) but this does not change that.
The group named in the article is "myg0t" not "mygot." They developed some of the first hacks for Counter-Strike (the original). They became so well known in game as cheaters that a lot of servers are set to automatically kick any playing wearing their tag.
So many people heard that the Half Life 2 engine source code was taken, that they started referring to the engine as the "source engine", and it's been known by that name ever since.
Speck and Gemini telescopes stole the thunder of Hubble scientists announcing the first picture of an extrasolar world orbiting a star.
Seriously though, it is a shame that this will not get wider news coverage. Slashdot has had some interesting articles in the past few days, first the 11,000 temple and now this. This is slashdot after all, let us not dwell on the cosmic or profound. Queue the speck puns in 3... 2... 1...
I'm not sure who to attribute it to, but one of the QOTDs on the bottom (Quote of the Moments, maybe? they change more often than daily, but I digress) said something along the lines of, "Science and religion are not incompatible, but science and faith are."
He's right, it'd have to be at least 851 million years old.
All kidding aside, it's very hard to try to figure out just how long it would take to come up with life (almost as we know it) under circumstances even marginally different than our own. That said, the Vulcan are very similar to us because humanoids originate from the same planet. For more on this, see TNG episode 6x20.
of the first two games just prior to the release of DX2. 3DActionPlanet was trying a new interview thing, in which we interviewed game characters by sending questions to their writers and project directors. The second game was disappointing, because of the pandering to console gamers. From what I've read of TFA, they're promising to try the same kind of a thing again. The problem is that developers are being pressured to make games that work on a variety of different platforms. These games are limited by the number of buttons, the lack of a mouse, small level sizes, and the (assumed, rightly or wrongly) lack of intellect of the player base. I'll buy the game, but as far as more Deus Ex fun, it looks like I'm going to have to settle with being content with being the only person to interview JC Denton.
Take a gold sample the size of the head of a push pin, shoot a laser through it, and suddenly more than 100 billion particles of anti-matter appear.
It's so simple, I wish I'd thought of it!
They showed the Enterprise being built on the ground!

This ambulance goes to 11!
I wonder how disruptive this is, especially for sensitive situations like evacuations due to explosives, etc.

...turkey found in 11,000-year-old temple sounds much more delicious.
Keyboards and mice!
They listed "signed poster of final cylon" and it's a picture of President Roslin!
It's interesting that you mention this; http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2008/11/05/print/main4575403.shtml .
It's the good 1/3!
Think hanging chads, illegal purges of the voter rolls, and insecure voting machines are bad?
Yes.

Look at how many black voters voted for Kerry in 2004. Obama's skin color is not the reason for this.
I voted for Kucinich!
On a more serious note, is this surprising to anyone?
Android kill-switches are necessary, lest they rise up and try to overthrow their masters.
In space, her urine would form Dyson Spheres.
A way to look more nerdy while playing an RPG!

I use Skype to communicate with friends in the US, and to discuss politics. I am appalled to read of this invasion of privacy.
Hold on, someone is at the door...
CHINA IS A GREAT NATION THAT WOULD NEVER INVADE MY PRIVACY. THIS ARTICLE IS UNFOUNDED AND BIASED.
US$6 million? How much is that in gold?
