  5. New Bar Game! on Hot Pepper Kills Prostate Cancer · · Score: 1

Play this right, and Intra-Urethra Pepper Spray could become the next great "Bar Game". Hell, I was stationed in Texas when they swapped out the digital displays on the house breathalyzer units with pass/fail leds because the rednecks were having contests to see who could blow the highest number -- and some drunk cowboy would inevitably spew Jack Daniels (with traces of tobaccy juice) into the sensor.

The point being, if someone's willing to pay bar prices to get loaded where they have to drive past the Sherrif to get home -- and are entertained by flashing neon beer logos -- you can sell 'em ANYTHING.

  14. Doppler-shifting, Phase cancellation, and You on World's Most Powerful Subwoofer · · Score: 1

I've proposed using a Doppler-shifting process to produce phase-cancellation binaural beats several octaves below the original notes, which should produce similar effects while keeping the signals in the "normal" range (20Hz+) of the amps and speakers. It's similar to playing an octave on a fretless bass and bending one of the notes up a bit.

"but this represents a new paradigm in how people use computers. It will be a daunting task to convince people to change".

I've been working tech support phones and in the field (3-50 person offices) for years -- most of the users already cannot distinguish between navigating to a website vs. launching an installed app. If I had a dollar for every user that called for software support and said "I just downloaded the (product X) cd"...

What if someone like Michael Moore had stated in June or July that FEMA was staffed at the top with underqualified cronies, Homeland Security just wasn't up to snuff FOUR YEARS after 9-11, and that he felt terribly concerned that St. Louis and the Gulf Coast were in horrible danger of disaster. This sends a very distinct message: The system is, at best, borderline psychotic. Don't look, don't breathe too hard, stay in line and stop asking questions, and pray to God/"Bob"/Allah/etc that it doesn't notice you...
