Since the industry is moving away from OpenGL and toward DirectX (hence Microsoft's exclusion of full OpenGL support for Vista), is this guide even needed? Vista will be out sometime next year, and I doubt that anything decent could be developed with the use of this book in that amount of time.
Besides, given OpenGL's proprietary nature and lack of portability, I don't see the need in its existence. It's obvious that if you want to write graphics code in a portable fashion that the choice of API for you is Direct3D and not OpenGL. Sheesh.

More than likely, this is a PR spin. In fact, I read somewhere that the reason Google uses Linux on their public service is because it's slower than other operating systems. This gives people an incentive to pay to use Google "premium" services, powered by Windows and.NET.

I agree. I love Eclipse; the best thing about it is that when I get done typing a line of code, I usually have about 10 minutes to run and grab another cup of coffee since it takes Java that long to bring the insertion point down to the next line.

I work on Windows and Linux servers and my opinion is that the Linux servers are more reliable and cost less to operate.
