With the design of the Linux kernel (macrokernel instead of microkernel) it would seem to me that porting something like DTrace to Linux would be impossible. Without features like this, I don't see how Linux could compare in the enterprise.
This could be a difficult thing for Linux users, as all protocols must have a kernel module in the current kernel (including things like BitTorrent and OSCAR, the protocol for AIM). If this goes through and no module is written, Linux will surely be crippled.

I eventually got the machine stable through various combinations of drivers.
Now, fast forward to last year. I build two boxes with Abit IS7-E2 boards and 2.4 GHz Pentium 4 HTs. Flick the switches and they just work. I have uptimes in Windows XP of several weeks or more (rebooting only for the monthly security patches) on these compared to uptimes of maybe a few days on the Athlons (not just the Asus board). Hell, they even run cooler; 112 F under load on the P4 compared to 150 F under load on the Athlon (yes, I used a heat sink and all that jazz).
Now, can you explain to me again about how AMD is better than Intel? Sounds to me like the opposite is true.
