    I think the so much loved MS Passport. Take it one step further... Passport + wireless device = New Payment method? I guess it could be done now with PDAs. However, I'm one of those people that can't stand PDA usability and do not use them. However I love my Archos GMini 402 and I have it on me almost everyday.

    They are making money on the float. Any excuse to delay funds and keep the money in their accounts means more money on the float for them. Same thing with PayPal. They could have a 48hr turnaround with deposits into your account. However it can take up to a week. Really no reason for it other than to maximize the use of your money for their profit.

    In this case they are using a very bad excuse.

    Win2K and XP Pro have had this feature for a while now.

    runas /user:DOMAIN\Administrator %ApplicationLocation% Now it would be a wonderful world if that worked in all cases. However installing HotSync or ActiveSync using another user does not work. You have to temporarily promote a user, install, then demote.

    My hope is garbage like above will be flushed out with vista.

    Freediag is stagnant because people have lost interest. If they want to implement new protocols within the 0BD II standard they should pick up Freediag and continue the development. Freediag is almost completely finished the portability portion of it's development. It compiles under most operating systems.

    I guess Yay! for GPL being upheld in court. Yay! For independent an DIY auto repair folks. However, bummer for a project that really needs some new blood.

    Now we see the benefits. John Ashcroft was an ardent supporter of mandatory sentences. With the recent supreme court decision that upheld the sovereignty of a Judge's judiciary powers in determining sentence. Had he been sentenced just three months ago he'd be looking at 5 years in pound me in the ass prison.

    I'm thinking that the cops use devices that are small and relatively cheap. So they probably use consumer available GPS receiver chip sets. Also most other GPS (differential and the like) are large and costly. So I think it's a safe bet that local law enforcement GPS trackers are easy to jam.

    This assumes I use MS SQL. I personally use Win32 ports of proven OSS on my Win2k machine. This includes Apache, MySQL and others.

    Interesting comment by the author about SP2. It made me think about my upgrade practices. On my Win2k servers I wait nearly 6 months before I upgrade or apply any patches. I just need to know all the bugs are out before I put it into production.

    However on my linux server I love installing the latest stable builds. Maybe that is because the software tends to be of better quality?... Possibly masochism... maybe... Then again I do run Win2k server.

    I cringe when I flip past VH1 on the television. It's always where are they now. Most of the time it's a tragic story.

    However I think in your case a "catchup interview" on a morning show or a late night would be greatly welcomed.

    This brings me to my questions. Have you had offers to appear on shows such as NBC's today show or CBS's Late night with Dave Letterman? If so did you turn them down and why? If you have not been offered do you feel that there is a stigma around you? Could it be something a kin to black ball in the 1930's?

    I enjoy your blog and I wish I could have made your reading in Portland, OR a few months back.
