I was more concerned with the lack of standardization of the language. Those were wild times. People placing punctuation at will and capitalizing letters willy nilly. How did we ever survive;)
American English has come a long way since 1836. The When attempting to scan older material, the OCR was probably rendering text that read akin to l33t.
Oh fuck off those with the overrated and offtopic moderations! To hell with my karma on this one. Sorry I'm not preaching to quire. It's funny you can't have an ONTOPIC and DECENTING remark without getting moded down. Oh well I guess I will go meta moderate try to right your wrongs in some small way.
Here's an example post to be moded down as either offtopic, flambait, or troll.
I like my Windows boxes junkware-free, thanks (oxymoron noted).
There is one thing that gets me about slashdot. That thing is the windows bashing. Windows XP IMO was worth the money. No other operating system makes my laptop function so well. OMG could that be the purpose of an operating system... no can't be...
I digressed, back to the topic at hand
Yes I'm a victim of the FUD:rollseyes: but the reason MS Windows sees all this crap is because they have 85-95% of the desktop market share. Now what is going to bring you more profit, targeting 10% of the market or 90% of it?
So this development is not exactly surprising. also their is so much competition in this software market that it's probably in the developers best interest not to sell out. If the developers sell out to everyone then they have lost the point of their business model.
Summation:
Don't bash windows because it has a large market share.
Don't bash microsoft for trying to make an OS everyone can use.. By everyone I mean 99.9% of the world that are not sycotic security admins
This is as common as organized crime in the 20's and 30's. Take the money and look the other way.
I do have a really bad joke on the mind that involves a New Zealander and electric sheep. However I won't share so that I can spare some peoples feelings...
The last time I checked optical cabling like niether virbration or dirt. So is this really a great application? BTW 1394... WHY? it makes some sense but seems slightly random as well.
I would like to see it go on display at the Smithsonian Institute. The vehicle has such an extended and storied history that one could make an entire exhibit around its exploits.
I was up till recently a SL-5500 owner. It was a great PDA. However Sharp's software support was terrible. They had great hardware with great function but poor software support.
The OSS community took-up the slack the best they could by releasing revised ROMs and even roms built from the ground up like Open Zaurus.
Another issue I had was lake of sync support. The sync feature was flaky at best.
So I really think it's a bad move on sharp's part to discontinue US sales. The zaurus is one of those devices that almost was and still can be the killer device.
On a side note. The Zaurus is the best handheld I have ever used for WiFi site surveys!
The tighter you squeeze Lord Annan, the more networks that will slip through you grasp.
It would be like a fist full of jello. The tighter they try to make the controls the more you'll see independent and censorship free networks rise. Such as Area Wide Wireless Networks and sub networks like freenet.
I was really impressed by the OEM heatsink and mounting system. As long as the system runs at its rated clock speed the OEM gear works fine.
I highly recommend AMD chips on custom built machines. Plus you don't need to spend $1000 dollars. My brother does audio production so the audio processor I put in was $270+. Nor do most people need a dual layer DVD RW drive.
I was an ardent fan of intel until the Athlon 64 came out. My brothers new PC has an Athlon 64 along with other goodies (1gig ram, dual layer dvd writer...) for a very reasonable $1,000 USD.
There is no way I could have done that with an intel chip and motherboard and still get the same performance.
Just last week:)
I've been wanting to run Debian on my Vaio r505 with slimdock (getting debian installed using the firewire slimdock is a feet in it's self)
However out of frustration I tried the lattest Mandrake commmunity and Fedora 2 releases with no success under fedora and only partial with mandrake (I was able to get battery monitoring to work).
I'm not sure what the exact kernel versions were in those distros howver I know they were 2.6.2 or newer.
BTW, No I do not use linux in a desktop envrionment because honestly, desktop software under windows is better than linux. However I love linux like it was my own child when I run it for backend things.
I'm probably going to end up with a troll mod but...
I think the first thing should be ACPI. ACPI support plain sucks under linux. I would pay the same amount for a linux distro as I do for MS XP pro ($200+/-) if that distro supported ACPI just as well as the MS operating systems.
So how long until everything in the home has its own IP address and script kiddies decide to get their kicks messing with your air conditioning during a heat wave?
It's a way to store and transport energy.
Hydrogen has to come from someplace. It takes energy to produce hydrogen. Currently more energy goes into making hydrogen than is produced.
But the previous poster brought up Biodiesel which is far more mature and cost effective for the state of the world economy.
Use biodiesel as the tippy cup which well get us off the tit of fossil fuels and then we can move onward.
Meh, I'll just get verizon's fiber to the home service. Then setup a Less Networks node, roll my own NoCat Auth AP or join one of the great Area Wide Wireless networks.
Verizon is just a 500lb gorilla that can't see more than 2inches infront of its face!

Phrack had a nice article detailing how to jam the consumer frequency. I assume cost is an issue so the recievers requiered will use this band.
So without further ado:

BTW: insert lame space balls quote here.

I'm pretty optimistic about the future. I think I may find out, in my lifetime, if androids dream of electric sheep!

But is this the average population of a United States city?
Then again I can't imagine bush holding on to power for that long.
Mod +1 for paranoid

Yeah, that syntax error caused a core dump. Now I'm busy debugging the entire review.
I'll commit my changes to cvs shortly and hopefully folks will be able to finish reading the review without crashing their brains.
Trying to confuse us all with unexpected and possibly illuminating news sources!
Shame on them for providing a portal for world views and domestic issues.
A few charred remains of a failed attempt would be a real crowd pleaser too. Just like NASCAR.
This is a very valid point. Maybe made in the least subtle way possible but still a valid point.
I fear the parent maybe moded down as troll. I ask those with mod points to seriously consider the validity and insightliness of the quoted comments.

who's going to mess with this
More like who is going to clean up the mess when said baboon decides to fling poo.
Davide Libenzi of Xmail Server and Many other great projects is my hero of OSS.
To bad I didn't see this posting sooner.
Check out episode 3 of TheBroken.org.

At the movie theatre avoiding a really bad movie the woman made me go see.
I love my zaurus.
