Incidentally I just turned Java off the last time I heard of an exploit. Unless you're using some particular web app that requires it you probably won't even notice.
I haven't run into a useful (interpreted) Java app in years.
What's so hard about that- even the URLs are clean and logical. Not to mention iPods, iPhones, Airports, Displays, Laptops, Desktops, Network Backups, Keyboards, Mice and Software of all kinds, both by Apple and 3rd parties.
Compare to Apple, with only 2.2 Million in contracts, with less than 22k (>10%) listed as Not competed.
I don't have a comment really except that competition is good.
You can't get dial up anywhere. Not even in America. Not even in California. I lived off the grid, and miles from the nearest phone lines last year. No cell service to speak of either. The only way in without planing new poles is satellite.
At the very least $3000 isn't an accurate figure. Any plain jane white Macbook will perform just fine for audio ($1000). Discounting the fact that the FOSS audio apps he's using are also available on mac, Logic Pro 9 is only $500 brand new.
Cute article but I'll skip the angst, thank you.
I am writing from Africa on a shoddy internet connection that 12 of us share, Sometimes even when you're the only one on you can't even log onto Google talk.
Not to mention caches, transparent proxies and firewalls.
Please give those of us who pay for the game LAN play.
OSX to run games because they will run better do to how it manages memory and devices. You get more performance out of a slower chip.
Ok I was following you until this. If anything OSX adds overhead and makes games and the like run slower. Especially due to the way it manages memory. The upside is that the OS itself is fairly robust.
LaserWriter II.
Tiny. Cheap.
I once had a Mac IIcx boot OS7 in 14 seconds- that'd be with networking and quicktime.

Now if only they bundle this with manufactures.
Clever.
Not to mention Apple's search is pretty handy, complete with AJAX shortcuts to many items.

It's just that Apple started with a plan.
My favorite thing to uncheck.
I don't know what you're smoking but Chrome has a title bar. It's an easy drag target. Here, have a look: http://www.google.com/chrome.
See. Title bar. Big, double-clickable, dragable, resizable, titlebar.
I'm not a Chrome user but if you're going to complain, at least get it right ;)

Ha! Maybe you're writing for the tards at the MLA- I think the rest of us can agree that it's syntactic suicide (just like quotation marks).
People typically say "my car is broken"
I try not to do work I hate.
$/own where own=0 is infinity
This just in: [Most] People don't choose their browser.
Call it "Internet" and lay people will actually use it ;)

I don't get it.
There's a big difference between searching google
Just a registry value away. Say hello to millions of crapwares that "Fix Autorun". Not to mention malware itself.
