I think that's a pretty lofty expectation for it. I am a thoughtful and intelligent person and psychedelics have had a profound impact on my life. I've met people who use them who are not quite as thoughtful or intelligent and they seem to get little from the experience besides pretty colors.
This might not make sense to people who have never tried it, but hallucinogens like LSD and mushrooms can have the exact same effect.
Of course, like space travel, it's not for everyone. The experience might make you vomit and it might make you crazy (see Daniel Johnston), but your perspective is forever changed.
I suppose you're talking about meth, which is not flamed directly but is vaporized by hot glass, AFAIK, so the fire risk isn't the same as smoldering ashes from a cigarette (or joint). Of course, if one of your employees is a meth user, you may have a whole other set of problems to deal with.
Java Applets are dead and Flash would be a horrible way to do a word processor. Google's existing Javascript setup could be extended to include most of the functionality of Open Office without introducing all the overhead that would come with an applet. AJAX does amazing things.
X window forwarding sucks for most people in the US who aren't willing to shell out extra money for a faster connection. Also, it can't access files from your local disk, only files on the server's disks.
Does anyone expect a web app to come close to a heavy hitter like Open Office? It serves a different purpose; it will edit documents from any decent web browser at any location. The computer doesn't need access to my files as long as Google has them and it doesn't need any special software, either.
Google docs isn't special because it's a great office suite; it's special because it's convenient.
What do those words mean anyway? I have ADD. Would I still be able to vote? I've got a good friend with bipolar disorder. Would he be able to vote? I've got an in-law who's been diagnosed with schizophrenia, though he's got his act together as much as anyone else.
What's the deal with thing like this (and gay marriage) where some folks go out of their way to interfere with others?
I've completed every quest line on Oblivion for 360 and have had only a couple lockups. It has been otherwise bug-free. I didn't buy the game until it had been out for quite a while, but calling it unplayable is just plain wrong. Pretty much every problem has been fixed by now.
Poll of only 550 voters? That's a pretty small sample to draw such a cruel conclusion about a large group of people. I used to live in the Bible Belt and I dislike it as much as the next guy, but the article is guilty of the same sort of bigotry of which it accuses Texans.
A friend of mine during college used the same technique to duplicate a master key that fit most of the doors in our (somewhat small) school. He's always been an interesting character, though. That was several years ago and today he's a sysadmin but on the weekends he practices blacksmithing.
People use Google or Youtube when they're not sure where to look. grep is for people who have a specific set of data to search through and need a line containing a specific term.
The difference there is that none of those services in your link did anything remotely as important as GMail. Some of them were rolled into other services instead of actually disappearing. Also, it's easy enough to back up your GMail account using IMAP or POP and a local mail client.

Maybe it's more like this:
All of your blocks are belong to us, but so are some blocks from someone else, too.

Yeah, I don't know what the point of that comment was other than to get an easy first.
...but do they sniff out cannabis?

Does it count as recreation when you're expanding your mind?
Also, where's that music coming from?!

Well, you could get the Xbox version instead of whining about the PC version and pretending that it's an excuse for not paying for the game.
It's worked for bullshit vehicles like the Escalade, so I don't know why it wouldn't work for a bullshit smartphone.

Ever heard of corn subsidies? That combined with the import tariff on cane sugar means that yes, the government is forcing us to eat corn syrup.

I bet it'll fry just fine, it just lacks the ability to drop itself into the oil.
"Lying" in the headline should be "laying". The addresses are not liars. They are laying in wait for a user to use them.
Nobody comes here to stay current with the news; we come here for discussion that's better than most other places.

Clearly he has not heard of Something Awful. Yes, we^H^H they do work in groups.
More like "start a newsletter".

What I'd really like to gain control of are those 11 secret herbs and spices.
