"Seriously, the people we send to the moon and especially Mars need to work as a unit and either get along or be married couples."
I can just see it now, the astronaut is being nagged by their wife the entire way about how to get there. "Maybe you should stop and ask for directions honey." "I'm just going to adjust the temperature, it's a tad too cold in here, don't you think?"
I've found that off-the-shelf ginseng and ginko biloba make really good replacements for caffeine. Although not approved by the FDA, they are usually good for boosting your energy level and clarity of thought. Other herbs like yerba matte also do the trick. While these are good replacements for caffeine, nothing beats a good dose of daily vitamins.
Not to be anal or anything, but if something is 100% better than something else, then it is 100 + that other quantity, not 100 * the other quantity. I do think that's what he was going far. Your remedial math skills are in dire need of improvement.
This is the reason I trust open source software. The power of peer review (in one form or another) catches these kinds of things before they are sent into the wild.
This guy must have just had his XP box sitting in his office owned by some student sitting at a Linux or *BSD box in their dorm, so now he's lashing out in an impotent rage. It's pretty funny to read other people's ignorance, especially when they are so proud to display it on the world wide web.
Of coarse Windows is more prone to malicious code execution. An OS that doesn't truly enforce permissions based code execution is going to be ridden with these problems. And yes, even those OSes that are permissions based like Unix and Linux will still have certain vunerabilities. Nothing is perfect. The difference? Bad software engineering (Windows) vs good software engineering (Unix and Linux).
Our Slackware also is not subject to many of the security problems that YOUR "Modern" distributions are so prone to. And no, we're not desperately trying to catch up. Ever heard of pkgtool?? Redhat, Mandrake, and Suse are by no means cleaner distributions compared to Slackware.
"The Consumer Product Safety Commission has announced a voluntary recall of the Segway human transporter..."
For a moment, I thought they were referring to a human teleporter...
LOL...That is SO true. I recall many..MANY times when my friends would ask to borrow my HP48G(X) for a test and later be told that they couldn't use it. They said everyone kept looking at them because it kept beeping at them when they tried to do anything with it. I sure miss those days.
Nope, but it just goes to show that the RIAA is using very sloppy methods in their whore-mongering crusade to harvest as much money from the masses as they are "legally" able to. I find very little difference between the RIAA and SCO in this respect.
*cough*BETA RELEASE DUMBASS!!*cough*
Seriously though, have you tried an install of Redhat 9? As a general rule, never expect much from a beta release. It still has alot of "under the hood" details to be worked out. I would be willing to bet that when it is released as stable, you won't have these problems. As far as Linux needing serious speedups, get real, it's damn fast already. Your problems are with the desktops, not the Linux kernel. If your complaint is based soley on your experience with a beta release of one particular distribution, then you seriously need to widen the periphery of your view of Linux. Perhaps try another distribution like Mandrake or Suse if you're into a quick-to-setup desktop. If you're really into a fast desktop, try Slackware. It doesn't hold your hand like other distributions might, but it's damn stable, and damn fast.
A memo to a higher office
Open letter to the powers-that-be
To a god, a king, a head of state
A captain of industry
To the movers and the shakers --
Can't everybody see?
It ought to be second nature --
I mean, the places where we live!
Let's talk about this sensibly --
We're not insensitive
I know progress has no patience --
But something's got to give
I know you're different --
You know I'm the same
We're both too busy
To be taking the blame
I'd like some changes
But you don't have the time
We can't go on thinking
It's a victimless crime
No one is blameless
But we're all without shame
We fight the fire --
While we're
Feeding the flames
Folks have got to make choices --
And choices got to have voices
Folks are basically decent
Conventional wisdom would say
Well, we read about
The exceptions
In the papers every day
It ought to be second nature --
At least, that's what I feel
"Now I lay me down in Dreamland" --
I know perfect's not for real
I thought we might get closer --
But I'm ready to make a deal
Today is different
And tomorrow the same
It's hard to take the world
The way that it came
Too many rapids
Keep us sweeping along
Too many captains
Keep on steering us wrong
It's hard to take the heat --
It's hard to lay blame
To fight the fire --
While we're
Feeding the flames

LOL!!!....this guy obviously isn't a tech. I've seen my share of people like him who talk bullshit to impress their ignorant audience. So tiring.
or do you mean death-rows??
:)
Rather than send an error report to Microsoft via the internet, you have to mail these in.
But does it run Linux???

Isn't Doom3 slated to have a capped fps?

No, it's not a feature, it's about keeping things simple.

This sucks more than anything that has ever sucked before.

You must be referring to SCO's crack smoking Linux distribution. :->
grow up.
The Gnome developers, of coarse! :)
If it's pronounced as "noppix", then that's gonna cause some confusion for people talking about knoppix. Maybe it's G-noppix???

I think a firing squad would be in proper order for McBride and his team of flying ass-monkeys.
I want one.
