He just showed a sample PODCAST.. as in, what could actually be recorded.
I gathered a similar idea from reading the article: 1) You plug in. 2) The device starts recording. 3) You plug out. 4) The device stops recording. 5) And it starts uploading the file.
What Nuffsaid showed could actually happen, if the above is true. But I probably should not feed the trolls here.
On a sidenote; The device does not make much sense to me, if the above is what is actually meant in the article. How would someone be able to mix, edit, and process the audio file, so that it is ready for consumption?
I know it's slow... but I do get results after searching and clicking the Podnova Top 40 link. (TWiT is at #1 in the Top40, followed by Diggnation, Slashdot Review is listed at #16)
Oh you mean something like PodNova?
They have a Linux client, that synchronizes your desktop with your online podcasts list. And you can listen to these podcasts online.
and that'll be my first home console since the days of the NES that I'll buy. Now I've had my share of handhelds (Sega Gamegear, GBA, and now the DS (phat)), but I've never had a home console since the NES. And I will be buying myself a Wii.
I have an media-player (a cheap Korean 'Tekmax I-one-it') that also supports OGG, and I love it.
And sometimes I encounter mp3s I simply can't play with it (funny thing, incompatibility within 1 single format, some software players are also incapable of playing those mp3s) But when I transcode those faulty mp3s to ogg, there is no problem whatsoever.
I have yet to find a single.ogg file that I cannot play with the device.
Don't worry about platform compatibility with a WM PDA. PocketMac (http://www.pocketmac.net [pocketmac.net]) is a great piece of software (used it form the HP 4350). It's actually more reliable than ActiveSync, in my experience.
So you only have Windows and Macs as platforms? Nice...
You are forgetting about Linux (for starters), so yes, I'd worry about platform compatibility, if you prefer not to use Windows.
My experience with PocketPC devices and Linux is that they don't match. There are programs out there that can connect the two, but they are not stable, and often don't fully sync the device with your system (either files are forgotten, or it's one way only).
I haven't had much luck either with the Linux based OS' on PDA (such as Opie or GPE on an iPaq), but I'll peg that to mistakes made by me.
Funny though, these people apparently do know how businesses are supposed to be run, because EA is one of the largest brand in gaming at the moment. They might not recognize a game, if they tripped over it, but they do make successful businesses.
That is not to say, that I particularly like their franchises, but apparently there is a profitable market out there for them.
No, perhaps not, but the accused was the one who died... And once dead, in my eyes, you can't be sued... And you're still innocent until proven guilty.
But I'm not a lawyer. And perhaps too naive and too idealistic.
Wii's online service will use the same friendcode system as the DS... So I'm not sure if the online service will be comparable to Live. But they probably will have something like Marketplace, for their Virtual Console stuff, and perhaps indie developer games.
You seemed to imply government should stay out of parents' parenting. Yup, that's what I meant. The government does not know my personal family situation. Kids come in all sizes and you can't slap on some generic law on that.
Next thing you know, the government will force you to have a certain religion, do this, do that, and in essence lead your life for you. One misstep (one broken law), and you are a criminal. You don't want to make everyone a criminal, because that will backfire, and essentially make it a lot worse.
I don't want some bureaucrat telling me how I need to raise kids. Parents should learn that they have the main responsibilities over the upbringing of their children. (heck they are responsible for their kids until they reach a certain age (different in each country)) Luckily most parents know this, and bring their kids up responsibly.
of course you would have spotted that my comment was sarcastic. But no, I do not think that any government body (aside from schooling) has any right to determine how I raise MY kids. And yes, parents have responsibilities, and if you notice that a kid isn't being looked after correctly, there are people where you can talk about this, and perhaps even report those parents. (perhaps you could talk to a guidance counselor at their school?) Though of course, what you think is proper parenting, might not be the same as that other person's idea.
But making more laws to actually do the parent's work, is NOT the answer, it never is. How would you go about enforcing those laws? Install a policeman in every home?
it makes me wonder, if those people had any taste at all. :)
What games were they playing?
or in WoW Gold...
5.04 was called Hoary Hedgehog
5.10 was called Breezy Badger
6.06 is called Dapper Drake
And 6.10 will be called Edgy Eft
them's the facts...
You're missing the joke, mister.

Too bad you misspelled the name. :)
It's Baldur's Gate.
"You own the "original book", not the words on the pages."
I'll sue you, you are using words that I used... Clearly that's copyright infringement!
*mutters* Blatantly copying words that I used in my texts, the nerve...

oh wait, never mind.. I just saw that you had to put down some Nintendough to get it. My apologies
as far as I know, the Opera browser comes standard...
oh you mean like PlaysForSure? :)

> Who comes up with these names?
Mark Shuttleworth comes up with the names. Or at least he has the final say in it.
And it is different and notable, it's refreshing. And it doesn't bother me at all.
But if you want you can say "Ubuntu 6.10" instead.

well, there are still many people buying the Madden, NFL, NHL and FIFA series (almost every year?), and The Sims and their many add-ons.
So, why don't they sue him then?

too bad of the glaring typo on page 4.. "Lunix"?
hmm which Vista version do I want...
Yup, they really don't offer any choice, do they? And they aren't confusing their customers at all, right?
I'm looking forward to 13 March 2007 :) (Go ahead, write it down in the dmy fashion) :)
